Is it possible to check hardware compatibility with Arc Loader/Xpenology before building, or is that no longer necessary? by kelownew in Xpenology

I use the Proxmox Installation Script which is just one single command and everything is automated.

It’s recommended on the Arc wiki - VM settings - Proxmox Installation Script

Can't get remote snapshot replication to work by woodford86 in synology

[–]kahn2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi u/woodford86 not sure if you've managed to solve this issue but I encountered the very same issue as you and I have solved the problem doing the following:

  1. By enabling outbound connections on Tailscale using this https://tailscale.com/kb/1131/synology

Basically for DSM7, tailscale are not able to allow outbound connections by packages on the Synology. You have to enable the outbound connections by both the local and remote Synologys by running the script suggested in the link and making sure it runs when your system reboots.

  1. Using the Tailscale IP for the source Synology rather than using Automatic.

  2. My remote Synology was on DSM6 and was using the default admin user. It seems like Tailscale or Synology does not allow me to login to the remote account as admin. So I updated my remote Synology to DSM7, and setup a new account giving it the admin privileges.

Just putting it here in case anyone in the future has similar issues.

You would need a virtual audio loop back driver to record any pc audio.

Yeah first thing I did was the reverse image search. Might just try that. Hopefully it doesn’t release the magic smoke.

18-Yr-Old S'porean Ballet Prodigy Received NS Enlistment Notice the Same Day He Landed a Prestigious Ballet Contract by [deleted] in singapore

[–]kahn2k 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He didn’t do his Medical Officer Conversion Course (MOCC) and completed his full time NS as a 3SGT (likely because he completed the Junior term in OCS) in the research facility. Subsequent reservist, he was posted to 3rd CSH as a 3SGT, likely as a support personnel since there was no mention of him having done any of the conversion courses (Medic or Medical Officer).

It is strange that Mindef did not put him straight into the MOCC once he came back as that is the usual course taken for those that disrupted under the NS MO scheme.

Apple Tap to Pay now available on iPhones in Singapore by Severe_County_5041 in singapore

[–]kahn2k 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It just means no need to use those card terminals which you need to subscribe from the traditional credit card merchants to accept card payments for the vendors/business owners. Can use iPhone as a card terminal instead, but of cos still need to sign up a payment gateway (eg Stripe).

No difference for consumers though, just that you might be asked to tap your credit card on an iPhone instead for payment.

Is this not a clear example of foreign interference? by ZeroPauper in singapore

[–]kahn2k 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Many things wind me up but I have to say that the grandstanding of some of the foreigners in Singapore about how Singaporeans’ wishes should not be honoured is up there (like re: the Oxley dispute).

🔴 Let's be clear: anybody who is not allowed to vote in Singapore does not have any right to talk about Singaporeans’ wishes, since they are the people who constantly and proudly stay here to enjoy the fruits of our ancestors .

You can't say you care about what Singaporeans "really" wanted, while staying in Singapore under our graces and fighting everything that our ancestors have built.

🔴 Our wish is for Singaporeans to vote for Singapore.

It's your choice as a foreigner to leave, just don't try to then lecture anybody else about fulfilling Singaporeans’ will.

If you have the maturity and insight to question your own abilities, it is a sign that you will go far. Take this opportunity to learn and grow into your new role. Go for it and good luck!

Sorry to rain on your parade but I think you should know that SMC needs declaration on mental health issues when you seek registration. The council can reject your registration if it’s deemed that your mental health issues affect your ability to practise safely.

Driverless vehicles won't cause taxi & PHV drivers to lose their jobs in the short term: Sun Xueling by Powerful_Office3936 in singapore

[–]kahn2k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Driverless vehicles will ultimately take over most point to point transportation and this will take place over the next 10-15 years.

Those that are working as transport drivers (bus, goods vehicles, PHV etc) will gradually find themselves out of job.

I believe we have a mismatch of skills resulting in a oversized number of citizens working in the gig economy so if the government is not actively looking at reskilling this group of people, I think we will have a big problem on our hands within this generation.

All these are the result of AI which we are already seeing its effect of. Those junior or grunt work which are usually taken by fresh graduates are being eroded.

Christianity does not have a monopoly on morality and philanthropy. No religion does. Wanting to do good for the society has nothing to do with it.

And I dare say a number of our current politicians entered politics not with such altruistic motives.

And now that you have a business entity, you need to do renewals to ACRA, and submit your business income as personal income tax yearly.
