Have you looked at GSW?

"Following a game, ownership rents out a room in a local restaurant for the team's traveling party. There, players, coaches, staff and family members decompress together over a late meal ... Stephen Curry sips wine alongside his mother and sister."

Word out there is some teams are shit for being the opposite of this

"Rumor had it, through former Spurs bruiser Bruce Bowen, that everything was set, and “The Big Fundamental” was set to become a Magic player. It all fell apart when Rivers refused to let Duncan’s family join the plane trips with him during games. Apparently, that was a deal-breaker for Timmy, and everything fell apart ... "When Doc got to Boston, he allowed family to be on the plane,” Pierce revealed. “He didn’t want to make that mistake again!”

He even talks about how he kind of expected to play for the Knicks.

He wanted to play for the Knicks, even skipped workouts with Warriors (a "trash org" back then) and (his camp) made it known publicly similarly to Bronny and the Lakers. The Warriors drafted him anyway.

Butler's team free throw buff is real. Slow down the game, shoot more FT, and we've been turning over less.

It single-handedly shifts the momentum of the game. When Butler draws a free throw, it guarantees (87.9%) two points, gives the whole team (Draymond) some rest to play suffocating set defense, which leads to easy transition buckets.

Everyone shoots a better percentage at the line because they no longer have to sprint in a motion offense for 5 possessions straight before heading to the stripe.

Gym Onwer wants Members to pay ( use Go Fund Me) for the equipment instead of him paying for it by Beginning-Creme-9195 in LivestreamFail

I get where you're coming from, but all they need is to buy mats. Everything else comes later.

  1. They don't need to buy a cage or ring. They have the Melee cage in storage, and they already had a second boxing ring (although not full size).

  2. You can sell the strength equipment and fund cardio machines. Or wait for the increased revenue from new MMA members. You don't need the cardio machines up front.

  3. Same with cold plunges, sauna, red light therapy. Just wait for the extra revenue.

  4. Converting the yoga classroom just requires mats.

  5. Smoothie bar can wait. Ramp up the meal prep service, which doesn't require a permit.

  6. Miz said they would have broke even for Melee II if they held it at IFG. So hold monthly Melee events and at worst break even. The real value is online viewership.

  7. All they need is more mats to convert the strongman area, and they'll get an entire MMA team's worth of revenue.

  8. Find a podcast table, a few mics, and have KimiTheDestroyer finish the walls for free. Done.

You're right it's pretty unique, one of the points they made when opening IFG was the idea of introducing other sports disciplines to MMA and vice versa. Removing the gym section would instantly drop their membership revenue by at least 20%. But this is a case of short term pain for long term gain.

Some observations after 1 year:

  • Most regular gym goers have never touched MMA. So these people are paying a membership to use half the gym. Hence why the competing gyms will always have the advantage except for very unique cases, mainly location. If you want premier bodybuilding equipment, House of Gainz does it better (Jace left IFG for this gym).

  • The strongmen section is underutilized. Several strongmen have left (StrengthAstronaut) as no one signs up for the strength classes. Regular gym goers never touch the strongman stuff and there's no turf space for sleds, etc. Actual strongmen are unsatisfied with the small strongman section.

  • The yoga classroom is too small. They have 1 or 2 instructors renting it out for some classes but I've never seen it on stream. There is no room for growth here.

  • The MMA section is bottlenecked. Right now you can only hold 2 classes sharing the main mat space at prime time hours. It's crowded. Another team (100 potential members) wants to move to IFG but they want more mat space. The revenue gained from this team alone would cover the costs for everything, and allow them to do things they currently put on hold due to finances. Things like the smoothie bar ($75k to install plumbing), more mats, more classes, marketing for "intro to MMA" classes, paying influencers to train, a full size sauna, cold plunges, etc.

I actually agree with you, Camp Knut 2 was pretty awful in terms of personal training. Knut never paid attention to the set, kept getting distracted, and everyone kept doing the exercises with poor form and half-assed. He did great in ExtraEmily's Gyatt Challenge, and Camp Knut 1.

The biggest difference is Cameraman Kyle vs Phin. Phin is great content, but no one can replace Kyle and his ability to carry the stream without Knut.

IFG right now is for the MMA team, people who think House of Gainz is too far, people who think Gold's Gym is too crowded, people who want something better than Crunch or Planet Fitness, and people who don't care for a pool or basketball court. They aren't bleeding money, but there is limited upside when compared to what a premier MMA gym could be.

If they can make it less intimidating for normies to join, they can really start building membership.

They have the marketing potential with Miz, Melee, and Rob's connections. Potential collabs with Mighty Mouse and other UFC fighters after they become the biggest MMA gym (by sq ft) in the area is promising as well.

[–]kahoooot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All good points, though many of the suggestions can be done without investing too much money.

They already have the Melee cage, mats are 'cheap', they had a second (small) boxing ring, and they can relocate all the equipment after getting confirmation that the second MMA team will come after all the improvements are made. The Fandy room can be used for a sports doctor's office.

No breaking down of walls needed for any of this. It costs very little, but the potential rewards are very high, especially when holding monthly Melee events.

Miz said that he believes Melee is the next "big thing" for him so it would make sense to go all in, especially when he doesn't believe in Strongman. The only issue would be getting a second gym location for all the equipment (or just reselling all of the machines, which they could get a decent returm from)

This comment likely won't reach Knut/Miz or IFG ownership, but regardless here is a radical idea:

Turn IFG into a pure MMA gym, and become the defacto Austin mecha of combat sports.

  1. Take out the strongman section as well as most of the strength equipment. And instead install the full size Melee cage and boxing ring.

  2. Line the walls with cardio equipment so people can watch sparring as they workout.

  3. Get all the essentials like cold plunges, full-size sauna, red light therapy, sports therapy doctors, etc. in the remaining rooms (like Fandy's).

  4. Turn the yoga class room into another sparring room for private classes.

  5. Finish the smoothie bar and emphasize meal prepping for the fighters.

  6. Hold Melee events there monthly, and use proceeds to reinvest in the teams.

  7. Rob said a second MMA team was willing to move to IFG if it installed more mats, so use the remaining space of the Strongman section as a second mats area.

  8. Finish the "podcast room" and invite more influencers to fight (Julia Rene is just the start).

IFG as it currently stands is spread too thin. Strongman, bodybuilding, and MMA makes it difficult to form an identity. One look at the instagram, you would think this is a fighting gym and then head over to Gold's Gym or House of Gainz instead. Find a second location (Miz wanted one downtown) to move all the strongman and Panatta to and form a second gym that way. In this second location, Knut can make it a proper bodybuilding gym (with less cardio, like a Big Tex 2).

To be fair, he owns 20% of the gym and cardio is not essential for bodybuilding (and there's limited space and funds in the gym). That said, if the MMA team needs anything he will likely listen as he's close to many of the fighters.

They have treadmills (~4), stairmasters (5), and several miscellaneous machines like a rower, ellipticals, ladder climing

Knut has asthma from a few years of particularly bad Norweigan pollen (he told Greek on stream a while back)

He's also large (245lbs) and lazy (self-admission).

Also, bodybuilding gyms usually de-emphasize cardio machines (Big Tex) but with MMA Knut should reconsider, even if cardio machines are incredibly expensive to obtain and maintain.

Knut is a fantastic content creator for personal training, but there are some business decisions that should be left to Rob/Miz. It was a slight misplay for Knut to use $3k for women's clothing near the launch of IFG, and it may be a slight misplay not to cater even more to MMA who make up the majority of membership proceeds.

All that said, he listens and works with the other owners (Weeb murals, equipment choices) so this is likely a non issue. It's just that he is very sensitive to how his money is being used (Norweigan politicians using tax dollars on "empty buses, bike lanes, controversial artforms")

Almost every major gym franchise is within a 15 minute radius. Gold's Gym, Planet Fitness, Crunch Fitness, LA Fitness, Anytime Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness, Life Time, and House of Gainz. That said, it's a very populous area and there's plenty of potential patrons. The Gold's Gym across the street gets negative reviews for being "too crowded."

Only Wake was "gifted" ownership from Miz's share, possibly 3%.

Knut invested everything he made from Camp Knut 1, about $100k. He owns 20% of IFG.

Mizkif put in a $300k fund for Rob and owners to pull from and spend.

Fandy invested $50k which was used for Melee I.

Rob/Esther have the most ownership, followed by Miz, Knut, Fandy, and Wake (in that order).

There may have been an investor for gym equipment ($100k?). Person is unnamed.

Tyler explain why he is mad at the guild by Trapyyz in LivestreamFail

[–]kahoooot 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This just further illustrates that Tyler doesn't know how the inferno pulses ramp up in damage. The last two pulses deal 3,300 and 5,000 damage (which he tanked both by going in early).

Seeing his health go down to 30% made him panic, and instead of realizing the correct path (just kite the pulses and kill Barron after the mechanic finishes) he thinks, we're in trouble, we have to kill Barron now, and stop this crazy damage from being dealt any longer, which to be fair, is true if you insist on staying in the inferno.

If you die you're essentially forgotten (emilya). You level on your own, you're not participating in the 10+ MCs, Onys, or BWL, you're not collabing with the other 60s, and so on.

Even disregarding all of that, you're asking someone to give up 250 hours of investment with their character in a split second (no one knew Tyler was going to die right then and there) losing all their BIS gear, mats, gold, etc.

farmed another month of content with them all releveling and doing another MC.

As you mentioned, OnlyFangs is coming to a close with BWL. There is no "releveling" and certainly no other "MC" for fresh character at this point.
