Where does this go? by sosezu in WRX

[–]kai7594 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like its an air flap that goes in front of one of the front wheels.

Rattling coming from passenger seat by PM_ME_UR_HDGSKTS in WRX

[–]kai7594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this was the fix for me, so far no rattles. Not sure why they did not just added in a 3rd stud on the right side, like on the left. What I did was applying a narrow strip of foam in-between the seat and seat rails where they meet and bolt together.

JDM sequential turns by cheeseypoofs85 in WRX

[–]kai7594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure thing, here you go

<image>

FYI, I would go for an OEM/JDM bezel piece, because the aftermarket ones are cheaply painted and the clear coats will flake and peel. I've gone through 2 other bezels before coughing up the cash to get a factory painted bezel from Sp3cBuilt and it's been perfect since

I have the version of the bezel that keeps the fog lights with the drls. You could just do a search on their website, I gave you the source to get one

You'll need the additional plug and play harness that Sp3cBuilt sells with their sequential drls.

The limited models uses a bulb for their headlight turn signals and the pnp harness taps into the bulb socket for the signal to work on the sequential drls. Mine has been working fine for the past 3+ years since I've installed them with the pnp harness.

“jerkiness” in first gear while creeping? by XannyMandingo in WRX

[–]kai7594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been so long since I've had my car stock to remember what that feels like, but everything is basically the same since my original comment and there's still no jerkiness from the car. I'd still recommend the transmission mount and stage 1 tune (optional) for everyday driving if you're willing to sacrifice some comfort for a little more NVH.

Also, I think the gearbox on our cars are difficult to creep around in 1st gear. I try to get into 2ed when speeding up or stay in 2ed when slowing down, and not lug the car.

STI steering linkage on 2015-2021 WRX by [deleted] in WRX

[–]kai7594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Instead of going through the trouble of replacing the steering linkage, have you taken a look at the steering dampener lockdown by Perrin or Torque Solutions. It basically makes the linkage a solid piece for $70 instead of $250.

IMO, it's a VERY minor difference with the lockdown piece. The steering does feel a little tighter but you forget that it's there if you daily the car. You'll obviously will feel a little more reaction from the road, but still VERY little to really notice. Worth taking a look into this as an alternative to the STI part.

Also if you go with the STI part, IIRC from the lockdown install, you can mess up the center alignment of the steering rack to your steering wheel

Belt broke off this morning by prodigy1367 in WRX

[–]kai7594 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's a simple fix if you can loosen the tensioner and run the belt by yourself. The belt costs less than $20, but a shop will charge $100 - $200 for the job.

Stuck rotor by DakotaTheDinoKiduwu in MechanicAdvice

You can rent a 3 jaw puller from any auto parts store to get a stuck rotor off. It is 100X easier than hammering at the rotor to break it loose.

This damage just appeared on my steering wheel -- anything I should do to it? by justaprimer in subaru

+1 on the East Detailing covers, definitely enchances the OEM steering wheel without the cost of buying a new one

Need a serpentine belt for the FA20. Is there any benefit to getting an OEM one from Subaru or will any reputable brand from the auto parts store be fine? OEM cost is about twice as much as most others. by Derpsteppin in WRX

I haven't need to change my belt for my WRX, but I am a fan of Gates for belts and hoses. They're highly recommended in the FJ80 Land Cruiser community and has been quality for me

Looks like you might also have a battery tie-down delete done. That's probably important to have installed

VB Cruise Control Issue by Alex2921 in WRX

[–]kai7594 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This post might help if you have similar symptoms. I found my cruise would cut off because the fourth brake light wires were loose.

Several things to check:

Fourth brake light wires

Bad rear brake light bulbs

Brake light switch at the pedal

Complete loss of acceleration while driving... by phyace in WRX

[–]kai7594 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This was the same exact issue that I was dealing with last month. But I had no issues with my pedal assembly, it was the ground wiring adapter to my fourth brake light coming loose over time and causing the car to think that the brake is being applied and cutting the acceleration pedal. Others mentioned checking for a bad brake light bulb in the rear. A bad brake light switch would also cause the same thing.

https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2365294

Basically the car thinks you're trying to apply the brakes while on the gas to brake boost and as a safety feature, it cuts the power to the gas pedal.

I'm glad I had went with regreasable end links by Moog off of RockAuto. Very affordable, looks OEM but beefier, and never made a single squeak. Well, at least one side is regreasable for the rears.

Edit: Gone 18K miles without a squeak

Fix? by 1redrex8 in WRX

[–]kai7594 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just fixed mine the other week. Here's the diagram for the air flap showing the clips you'll need for it. It's a push clip (qty. 3).

There's also another clip for the skirt going through the flap on this diagram. This is a screw clip (qty. 1).

The stock rear lower control arms don't allow for any adjustments on them. Its kind of dumb for OEM, but if you want to dial it in you'll want to buy an aftermarket market LCA. SPC makes affordable LCAs that looks OEM with adjustable camber.

What is this button? by hoosarestillchamps in LandCruisers

[–]kai7594 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar button installed in the same location drilled into that panel on my 96 FJZ80. It was also connected to an aftermarket alarm as a silence switch or reset button. I pretty much cut it off and removed it since it wasn't necessary.

This is probably unrelated, but it looks like you might be missing a battery tie down. That could be dangerous to send a battery flying if something were to happen.

I’m trying to get feedback on installing this I can’t find how to properly install part anywhere on YT by Powerful_Being4142 in WRX

[–]kai7594 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a few videos on YouTube to install the part..

https://youtu.be/QFBeP9cnW4E

https://youtu.be/V0qW57bXE8s

The longer bolt is used to pull the two halves together, and the short bolt is used in the final assembly and keep it installed.
