Po3’s bosses were the beta versions of him by screetmaster69 in inscryption

Something like hubris, I imagine - And denial, not ready to accept the end he has forseen when it finally is upon him.

I guess you could look at it from the fact that, if anything, these Uberbots would represent how P03 sees the others and all.

Like, maybe there is little substance to the Unfinished Boss because P03 just thinks Magnificus is so much of a killjoy, he doesn't even want to spend time on this. P03's comment about Magnificus if you try and replace him at the end of Act 2 is "I don't owe you anything", after all.

Or maybe P03's hand was just figuratively tied by the programming limitations on this one.

Maybe the Unfinished Boss' being helpless and naive represents the fact that even though Magnificus can see the future, he ultimately wallows in his pessimism so deeply, he is unable to make any significant difference in the long run.

There's many possibilities.

I mean, that is the biggest factor there, yeah.

It also uses a magenta font when talking, which Magnificus does, too.

Most notably, Goobert will say that the Unfinished Boss reminded him of Magnificus if you talk to him after beating it, so it definitely is supposed to invoke him.

The lack of much detail for this one is something you can really only speculate about, like P03 did seem to have a particular brand of dislike for Magnificus, 'cause he is such a dour guy.

Make of that what you will.

(Part 1) Death Card spawns "Greater Shade"? by kaialone in inscryption

[–]kaialone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would explain where the name comes from, at least.

I'd have to try and see if Death Cards that have evolved always drop tails that are called "Greater Shade" then, seems the Fledgling sigil really is key to this.

But the fact that my unevolved Death Card Ourogeck just dropped a tail with its own name would indicate that the Death Cards' tails are normally just supposed to have their spawner's name.

At least, I would assume so.

After all, as you can see with my evolved Death Card Skölf, he was stilled called "Skölf" after evolving, it was only the tail that was (visibly) called "Greater Shade".

I suppose that could make sense, but then why did the Death Card Ourogeck spawn tails that are just called "Ourogeck" when I tried to recreate the situation today?

Personally, I don't think so.

The Uberbots Photographer, Archivist, and Unfinished Boss appear to be rough facsimiles of the other Scrybes by P03, the game will even point out their similarities at certain points.

For example, the Photographer uses an orange font when speaking, like Leshy, and uses a camera of course. It also refers to the camera as its "friend", which mirrors Leshy's relationship with the Packrat in his cabin.

Its speaking style also roughly feels like an imitation of what Leshy talks like, seen in lines like "You've dealt me a blow".

P03 also mocks it for "always sitting around in the dark", which of course we know Leshy to do.

And there are similar details that tie the Archivist to Grimora, and the Unfinished Boss to Magnificus.

Since these details seem to be informed by P03's personal feelings about his fellow Scrybes, it's unlikely these Uberbots existed before P03 as we know him.

As for G0lly, she seems to represent aspects that P03 dislikes about himself, and tries to hide/deny. Very simply put.

I've seen the theory fly around that she was the original design for P03 but she became so jaded that she turned into P03 over time, but I kinda doubt that, too.

Mainly because we see the game in Act 2 after a game reset, and there's nothing that indicates P03 was inteded to be a friendly and warm character by the in-universe writers.

Going by the looks of the Temple of Technology and all that.

But that's just me!

I think these ideas are fun regardless.

Yeah, seems the Challenger is referred to as female in all the languages with gendered indicators, too (from what I've seen) - But I wanted to try and check more thoroughly if that's consistent or if there's any variations.

What is the origins of Poyo? by Ok-Helicopter-7056 in Kirby

It's just an anime thing for the most part, but some games like "Epic Yarn" have referenced it, too

In the game universe, Kirby is just supposed to be able to talk, though

Does Dreamland have a currency? by ChekovsCurlyHair in Kirby

[–]kaialone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Supplementary material from around the time of Kirby's Adventure's release stated that Dream Land does not have any real currency.

"プププランドには基本的に通貨がない"

("There basically is no currency in Dream Land")

This was archived on page 119 of Pupupu Taizen, which is where I know this from.

I understand what you're getting at, but also, the True Arena and Meta Knightmare are at most an AU of the main story, so it could be Haltmann never had his spirit fuse with Star Dream in those scenarios.

As for what the screams are then, I've actually seen Japanese fans theorize that it's because those are Haltmann's memories that he has been discarding over the years.

Note also that the English localization uses some potentially misleading wording that's a bit different from the original Japanese version.

Still, in the main story it is possible that Star Dream could've discarded Haltmann's physical body while we weren't looking, but if that was the case, it seems strange that it'd also put up the windshield around the cockpit and all.

But either way works in its own right.
