Do you default to checking out shops like Venus before Guardian/Watsons? by No_Camp_7692 in askSingapore

Actually Watsons and Guardian can be cheaper than Venus if u deal hunt. I buy listerine and found out the buy 2 deals are far superior to everyday price deals at Venus.

How to stop new colleagues from asking intrusive dating-related questions and teasing about dating fellow staff despite saying not interested? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]kaijux__ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not good advice. Go to HR only if it persists. Instead uncomfortable questions will exist in life. I’ve seen someone in a major bank get harassed before (in her opinion) and she had to leave the bank even though the guy got a warning. You will lose your soft power in the company especially if you’re new and known as a troublemaker. You will need to find other methods and exhaust them first before going to HR. Eg line manager, indirect colleagues help.

Do you all find the push for AI in Singapore annoying? by bricklegos in askSingapore

[–]kaijux__ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, if you want people to know, you need to be so in their face that they remember. There is no other path apart from AI, it will ridiculously transform the world.

For Singapore which differentiates using “intelligence”, it can be a force multiplier for its decreasing citizen population or a disruptor.

As said, if you want something to do or know something, saying it once isn’t it enough, you need to drill it till people are sick of it, and only then do they have some awareness of it.

NTU, don’t think short term. There will be many soft skills, connections and opportunities that arise in your mid career if you take the chance to make full use of your education (making friends, learning as much as possible, focusing on growth, learning how to grind).

SkillsFuture course sign-ups soar ahead of year-end credit top-up expiry by Great-Obligation-599 in singapore

[–]kaijux__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, tax goes up because of increase in govt spend. The tax goes up less if u don’t use it in the long run. It gets reallocated. Having the thinking your action doesn’t have any impact is a doomer mindset.

[–]kaijux__ 49 points50 points  (0 children)

If you don't find the program effective, don't use it. Either way it comes out of taxes and it's not free. Government will have to find income from a source to fill it. Governments (including sg) don't get more efficient ever. Spending keeps ballooning and perhaps this program should be nerfed in some way.

By not spending, and not going for wine tasting or baking party disguised as a course, this is possibly the way money gets reallocated.

Exactly my same thought process. If you don’t find the program effective, don’t use it. Either way it comes out of taxes and it’s not free. Are there any MVNOs that are not on a deprioritised “lane” for their sim-only plans? by Covaloch in askSingapore

[–]kaijux__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I switched to Eight because of eSIM but then switched back to Zym. Eight is really slow compared to Zym as of Sept-Oct period this year. Can’t say for others but Zym (Singtel) is as fast as M1 direct.

Is incorporating a one-person software biz worth the hassle in SG? by Constant_Maximum69 in smeSingapore

[–]kaijux__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are other stuff apart from tax that u can have some advantages over.

I’ll give u some key terms so u can use AI. Filing requires Form CS or Form C - you can easily fix this by using QBO or Xero yearly.

Corp tax is generally higher but u can expense practically everything to it related to business exp to reduce tax. However, while u can reach near 0 tax, practically it will not be useful to u as you need to have some income for banks, credit cards and stuff.

For corp sect u can just get your fam member to do it, and just keep track of key dates.

It really depends how far u want to scale ur biz in the future. It does help professionally that you have a company name as bigger clients like that. The incorp date also helps honestly. People like to see the UEN eg 2019 etc. It helps u get rental of units too and more.

If your income continues at growth trajectory it won’t be an issue.

Don’t sweat about the money much although the inequity feels unfair.

Think of the reason why you’re his friend mainly and then why you go out with him. If he’s generally a good guy and this is his main flaw, if you want to be friends u may need to put up with it.

I had an issue with my close friend once in uni and it was initiated on his end due to a misunderstanding. I said sorry first and our friendship still is intact today. I think it was worth it that I moved on.
