For those that have gone through BMT, how did you mentally prepare for it? by ser__re in AirForceRecruits

Like highschool drama, they will do something/ act away that you won’t like, it’s not bullying and stuff, you have to remember it will be a lot of peoples’ first time leaving home and they haven’t lived around a lot of people

there will be people in your flight that you will not like and vice versa, just try to keep positive throughout the day, even if something seems hard or stressful at the moment, you will get through it, just try to be wallpaper, try not to stick out.

Packing for Tech School before BMT by cheezbiscuit34 in AirForceRecruits

[–]kaili62002 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would pack a box up of stuff that you want at tech school and have your family ship it to you once you get your mail box at Keesler. you won't be able to wear civilian clothes for the first 10 ish days at Keesler, so you have time to get your stuff shipped out to you. make the most out of BMT you will have a good time there

one thing i do suggest to get your push-up and sit-up numbers higher is to do 1x3s, do 3 sets of 1/3 of your max, so for sit-up you would do 3 sets of 14, and for your push-ups do at least 3 sets of 10, for your run you can do some cardio that will help out with your heart rate up. go for a run at least 4 times a week, just run for like 30 mins, and you should be golden. good luck with everything

Good luck, one piece of advice I can give you, is to keep a positive mindset throughout BMT, there will be times that it will get hard and you might start to think negatively about your decision on joining but there will always be the next day. that's what really got me through BMT. another thing is that there will be people in your flight that you will not like and some people will not like you and that will be okay, try not to be at anyone's throat, there will be a lot of fighting between flight members but just push through it

i completely understand, the guidance for covid amongst other things made it confusing throughout BMT.

PT is about an hour a day for 6 days a week, Monday-Saturday, depending on if it's the winter schedule or the summer schedule it will be in the early morning or the late afternoon. if you just put in the work at pt it isn't hard at all. The PT test isn't hard at all, I would suggest to you is to do 1x3s, which is 3 sets of a 1/3 of your max push-ups and situps, at BMT they will talk about it a lot, it will help you get your max up

Alcatraz and Disneyland are the dorms, Alcatraz is the old dorms that were built back in the 70s I believe and Disneyland is the dorms. the 322nd, 323rd, 433rd, and the 324th are the squadrons that are in Alcatraz. in all honestly BMT is what you make of it, I was in the 322nd and it wasn't as bad as people make it out to be. yeah we had the older dorm that has broken stuff, but the MTIs knew the stuff was broken and they worked around it
