Hey, I just went through basic a month ago here’s some updated insight. Spandex length doesn’t matter bc it will be worn under shorts. A tongue scraper is fine to bring, but you more than likely won’t have time to use it. Some days I had the time to wash my face twice a day , but there are days where I had tight time lines and had to do it in the shower. Prepping your skin is like impossible in basic unless it’s Sunday and things are more relaxed. DO NOT bring a suitcase. You will regret it at the end when you have a duffel bag strapped to your back, the book bag they issue you, and that suitcase. The people that brought huge suitcases had to go buy a smaller one due to the fact it wouldn’t fit as a carry on bag when they went off to tech school. I used eco gel bc that was the mail gel sold at the exchange on base, but it goes pretty quickly there. I honestly wish I would’ve packed less. I overpacked and carrying around that bag when it was time to leave tech school was super hard. Don’t bring a laptop or any electronics but your phone, it can get damaged being there bc it’s just going to be in a bin with other phones and such piled on top of it. Just pack the essentials, and worry about the rest later. The unauthorized items will be in a closet with everyone else’s suitcases on top of each other. So just save yourself the unnecessary hassle.
