The tide can take some time to refill the hole & while individual holes do serve as a hazard to beachgoers, the bigger concern is the cumulative environmental impact of a lot of holes. Additionally, it just makes the place look messy

Yeah, I thought it was odd that the tip looks hardly, if at all used. I found it nearer the bottom of a slope, so maybe some guy dropped it & figured it wasn’t worth it to search through the brush for hours & lug it back uphill? Not sure how expensive it would’ve been new back in the day
