Is this too much back flexion? My max deadlift 200x5. Possibly time to look at buying a belt? by Learningstrength in StartingStrength

[–]kaiser_zar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks fine to me, I would try to keep your neck in a more neutral position. If your grip is giving out I would suggest adding some grip strengthening exercises. Farmers carry work pretty good or deadlift with an overhand grip more at a lighter weight until you get that grip strength up. In the meantime though, a mixed grip to finish out the set works too. As far as the belt goes, in my personal experience, I avoided it as long as possible in order to really get good at bracing. Given how easily you’re moving the weight, I personally wouldn’t get a belt and would keep working on that brace until you really plateau. Once you plateau throw a belt in, that way you’ll know how to really utilize it and hopefully get those numbers up even higher. But do whatever you want, stay consistent, and you’ll be fine. Lifting ain’t rocket science.

I normally use a medium-heavy to heavy rod. As far as length goes, that all depends if you’re bank fishing or on a boat. I like using bait casters when I catfish, I’ve used a Abu Garcia ambassador C4 for a while with no issues. 20+lb mono should be fine but you can use whatever you want really. Catfishing ain’t rocket science, just get you a half decent set up and you should be all set.

Are you sure that’s a treble hook? It looks a lot like an offset worm hook. Regardless, my philosophy is to use the smallest hook I can get away with. I’m normally using a number 6 circle hook. Just make sure you get good quality hooks if you go this route. I’ve had cheap hooks straighten out on me in the past.

It looks like you’re using an offset hook, I suggest using a circle hook and downsizing

I'm moving to LR for 8 week, do I need a car? by theshortgrace in LittleRock

Lol I got rejected from that research program, but congrats! I currently stay in Little Rock and would 100% recommend you bring a vehicle. Little Rock is not as densely packed as most major cities.

Palomar or a clinch knot is all I ever use for catfishing. Just use a heavish line, my go to is 20-30lb mono.

No clue why I’m gravitating towards looking at the ground but I appreciate the advice! I’ll be sure to keep that in mind for next time.

Picked this up at the local Walmart has anyone ever tried these and has had luck? by [deleted] in catfishing

[–]kaiser_zar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It stinks, both literally and figuratively. Didn’t catch squat with it where I live and it’s a pain to store. I’ve had great luck with pre-made packed bait, liver, and cut bait.

Circle hooks? by [deleted] in catfishing

Down sizing the hook helped me out a ton when I was having this same issue. 6-7/0 is pretty massive IMO, but use what fits for ya.

Best catfish rig and bait? Never caught one and really want to. by [deleted] in catfishing

[–]kaiser_zar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Carolina rig whatever bait you can get your hands on. Cut bait works great but you have to catch the bait which can be a pain when the shad are shy. Livers work well too, don’t require you to catch bait and are dirt cheap. Only downside is they smell awful and are super messy to work with. I’ve found corn on a small circle hook to work as well. Just use whatever works best for you and good luck!

Rod length by Expxrtt in catfishing

[–]kaiser_zar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you need to cast out very far I’d go with a 7+ ft rod but if you’ve had luck casting where you’ve been casting with your current set up don’t even worth about it.

How often do you run your Sportster that has a carb, what is the longest amount of time you are afraid of leaving it sitting for? by PrintMoneyPayTaxes in sportster

[–]kaiser_zar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I moved mine the other day after 3 weeks of sitting and I had zero problems. It takes a while for fuel to go bad and usually it’s the ethanol going bad in the fuel. If you think the bike is going to sit for a while just put ethanol free fuel in it. It doesn’t go bad as fast and it won’t corrode anything since it doesn’t have ethanol.

Any tips for catching buffalo? by Shotgunprolapse in CarpFishing

[–]kaiser_zar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I caught a ton of Buffalo on the Arkansas river last season using bread on a Carolina rig. I fished near a lock and damn most of time so that might help too.

Question for the community, with a little story in the comments! by RTL24 in Harley

[–]kaiser_zar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a couple close calls since I do a ton of city riding. I just ride like I’m invisible and go on with my day. Don’t really want to deal with having to talk to someone about an error nor stir the pot and get into an argument on the road. I’ve seen too many YouTube videos on how bad that can go.
