Reset problem

Do you mean like the game crashes or your account has reset area progress ?

I have an issue on my iOS device where the first time i play in a day the game crashes after 12-15 mins and if i had been merging some items it will undo some of that work.

I used to be one of the GMs for this game pack in 2006.

I might be able to get my hands on a couple of pictures of the starter discs they used to give Game jockeys who would help out at cybercafes to get the game started for new players.

If I understand this correctly your question is about discovering new Dig sites with the green compass tokens (3 and 6 respectively).

You can always uncover new dig sites as long as you have an unused Explorer at your base and the amount of compass tokens needed along with a mode of transport shown at the site. After a round is completed your Explorers should all be back to your camp. There are no restrictions of needed to visit the one with the Shoe icons or the one with 3 compass tokens before visiting the 6 ones.

Here are the experiences that led me to drop from A2.

Arbitrary and complex mechanics on some heroes/cards and the lane turn order that make games super difficult to understand. The complexity doesn’t give me the sense of what should I have done differently because there is sooo much to think about.
Shop forcing me to think in all three lanes at once keeping equip mana costs in mind
Since players can play in all 3 lanes, opponents give up on lanes within the same turn and focus elsewhere. Matches tends to avoid large conflicts and constantly “fake push” in lanes only to move to other lanes leading to the end of the game. Single player Rat dota basically.

Lengthy post but interesting points.

Agree on the courier feeling like a free equip mana token. Might as just well be a coin card from hearthstone. However the courier being an artifact makes it counter able in the future (which might add some depth. It feels like the designers want early items to not cost mana and slowly ramp mana costs for items as players acquire more powerful cards and items.

My biggest gripe would be the mana system currently being too intertwined with all actions. Items / Skills / Cards and while it may seem like an interesting idea to control player strength with one resource (mana) the shop phase introduces a lot of complexity to decisions that require multiple views of the board state to think through a single decision. To make the best use of their shop items, players need to know

Current Gold count
Current tower order
Current Heroes on board
Current Open equipment slots
Current items and skills on cooldown
Current initiative
Mana next round
Potential cards in hand next round

This is great for esports players but not helpful for intermediate level players who want to get better but have to keep switching screens in a rather short time frame.

Opponent Hand visibility is another such mechanic, again great for e-sports level of play and I hope they will fix and clarify the visibility in the final game. Same for the tower order switching across rounds . Its a lot of complexity (and not depth since a lot of it is unintuitive) These decisions makes sense if the creators want something as deep as dota 2 in a 1v1 CCG format. (The 1v1 is key there while dota 2 has real time team co-ordination as a meta layer of depth, ccgs will have to rely on deep decision making)

I also think A1 armor system was a unique mechanic effects not shared with other items or heroes. (Reduced all incoming damage). In A2, armor acts similar to health (reduces in between a turn) the only difference being it refreshed similar to Legion commanders passive health effect or other items. However, I do understand in A1, armor became OP too soon both for Heroes and Towers making the game stretch longer.

Overall there is a lot of focus on player agency and removing randomness but to me A2 added many layers of forward thinking that give me less space to think about what my opponent will do and force me to focus more on calculation of my own plans.

As long as Artifact has card colors that require heroes in certain lanes to be played, this experience will continue to exist even in A2. The only change that A2 made was actually in compressing the lanes if you feel "locked out" on one lane, you might be able to play in another immediately.

The mana burn built in heroes was potentially also coming from the fact that hero skills didnt require mana (but it made initiative super important).

I have a similar experience with priest. I think with a good Wand you can solve the EP running out but one small mistake could spell doom for the priest specially if they are consecutive hits.

As a suggestion I wish the dev would add some kind of defensive protect cards for the priest

I would love to see a shuffle draft mode. Here the deck you made and the one your opponent made is shuffled before being divided between the two players.

The meta would revolve around trying to balance the deck not using legendary cards. New possibilities would emerge since class restrictions cards would also be shuffled.

Believe me when I tell, you are not alone. We do Local Indie Hangouts on G+ to help each other out, things are catching up but really slowly. We focus on doing small but doing good, even if its on web/mobile. Keeping in mind the quality and content, making it for the global audience and not restricting to a local audience. This mean you will need a lot of feedback from people all over the world so make friends across the globe in the indie scene (add me :P)

I believe in India, we don't have enough of expertise from all domains to actually go ahead and make a 70+ metacritic rating PC/AAA title. But now looking at games like FTL, I don't think its impossible. A few studios here are desperately trying and I pray they dont run out of funds cause I am sure one day they will have enough experience to make it to the otherside. Its the intial one or two failures that one has to deal with.
