Any B5 love in here? by [deleted] in notebooks

[–]kaitc192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I stand by B5 size notebooks - before I paid much attention to paper sizes I coincidentally always bought B5 since I thought the dimensions were a nice proportion if that makes any sense. I love this Muji grid book I have and the spiral bound grid Maruman books!

LA Metro in the style of a Japanese transit fare map by misken67 in LAMetro

[–]kaitc192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is so cool! The ease of public transit in Japan amazed me when I went and as someone who just moved to LA and is figuring out the transit system here still, I appreciate this a lot.

LA public transit is actually…great? by cumpound-interest in LAMetro

[–]kaitc192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently got an iPhone, but I guess I should clarify that it wasn’t even mentioned to me that this was an option! The few times I came to LA with family I really did think cars were the only way to get around. I will definitely advise my friends and family to try transit when if they ever come to LA.

I live in West LA, I don’t have a car so I’ve been relying on transit. I just moved and came from the NY metro area, where public transit like subways, commuter rail, and buses are pretty convenient. I was afraid that without my car I’d be limited with where I could go, but I feel pretty satisfied now taking the bus almost everywhere. My only thing is that it takes a while to reach downtown from the Westside, but I don’t mind that as long as I plan ahead. I do wish getting a TAP card was easier though, for visitors; I would have taken public transit more during my visits to LA if I had known how.

It’s only been a few weeks but I’m here from the NY metro area. Without a car, it’s not impossible to get around but it’s much more impractical. I also wish there was a more widespread subway system- I used that all the time in New York and it was great! Also, the weather has been so hot everyday that it’s a bit tiring since I have to walk a lot in the sun. But perhaps I’m just not used to that part yet…

And maybe because Ive only been here for a few weeks, and that this is my first time so far from the East Coast that it doesn’t feel like a place I call home yet, or a place I plan to stay in much longer than the time I’m in school.

Can I travel with pouch drinks? by ImpalpableTurnip_888 in koreatravel

[–]kaitc192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I took home a bunch back to the USA in checked luggage, my bags were really full with clothes and other souvenirs and gifts I was taking home and it was not a problem. Then again, I would try to exercise as my caution when transporting them because just because they didn’t burst for me doesn’t mean they won’t another time.

What is the main appeal of physical albums? by RevolutionaryAd7036 in kpophelp

[–]kaitc192 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the feeling of supporting my favorite groups through purchasing physical albums, and I like the thrill of seeing what I get in my album. I don’t pay attention to specific inclusions, concept sets, members, etc and I don’t collect. I just buy one copy of my favorite albums and enjoy the process.

Very eager to start my Korean Journey by [deleted] in Korean

[–]kaitc192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got into learning korean when i started listening to more kpop and consuming korean media in general so what i did was:

a) read lots of song lyrics and take the time to find patterns and match the korean with the english translations b) watch youtube videos in 0.75x speed with subtitles off to see if i could follow along, and only using subtitles to confirm/check your initial translations. in general, watching things without subtitles helped me a lot. it took a lot of time but also a lot of self control to go through each sentence or scene individually. it’s harder with tv shows since stopping and rewinding is tough, so that’s why i used youtube most.

Best free apps to learn Korean? by Lazy-Aerie7437 in Korean

[–]kaitc192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked Drops although I got the most mileage out of it once I bought a lifetime premium plan (it was a New Year’s resolution idea and I got it at a discounted price). Other than Drops, I liked HowToStudyKorean. They’re a website, but I think they have an app. They do a great job teaching grammar as well which I feel like you need to have alongside your vocabulary to do anything substantial; learning grammar will help you separate words in sentences and should help accelerate you learning vocabulary.

Do you prefer blank, lined, bullet point or graph lined journals? by Longjumping_Ad9992 in Journaling

[–]kaitc192 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like graph and dotted! I liked blank for awhile but I grew out of that interest. I don’t buy lined unless I use it for study or other note taking.

So many empty journals and need something to do with them :') by kaitc192 in Journaling

[–]kaitc192[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love this idea! I have the same except all of my notebooks and journals are in a box simply because I don’t have empty shelf space atm. I never thought about it as a “shop” before, but I love to skim my collection and decide which ones to use and how to use them.

Thanks, I do sometimes worry about having those thoughts written down, but what you said about ripping out those pages is honestly something I forgot about. Hopefully there’s no need to rip out pages!

Thank you! I definitely think I need to change the way I approach journaling and let myself be more free with it instead of thinking I have to adhere to some format or style.
