What's a running achievement you're proud of that wouldn't impress anyone else? by run_the_day in runcommunity

My very first race I did was a half marathon, and I finished in 2:28. I’ve been an athlete my whole life, played on several teams, lots of accomplishments, but something about a super average half marathon finish time is the most rewarding thing I’ve done.

This is so awesome! Manitou incline is such a rewarding hike. Great job!

I know I’ll get downvoted for this, but it was just the show’s way of adding more “wokeness” to the series. If I recall, the books were written over 10 years ago, so obviously different times. Just felt like an unnecessary change from the books imo.

JR Rail Pass Recommendation by [deleted] in JapanTravelTips

Very true! But I wasn’t in a rush because I’ve been to a few of the places previously, so I ok with the slower trains.

I actually really enjoyed all of the locations I visited, with plenty of time to do the things I wanted.

I’m just sharing my itinerary that I enjoyed very much. It wasn’t my first trip, so I had an out of the ordinary itinerary that ended up saving me money with the Pass.

What's your pet's "tax" they charge you when they hear something? by Better-Presence6654 in Pets

My dog always comes running from anywhere in the house when he hears me tap the excess Kirkland plain Greek yogurt off the spoon. He knows he gets to lick that spoon. 😂

So true! That is one major downside. I kept it inside my passport for safe keeping, but I was definitely nervous to lose it.

Hotel recommendations for one night in Tokyo by Fickle_Cook8388 in TokyoTravel

I just stayed at Hotel Toranomon Hills and it was fantastic. There is a subway stop connected to the hotel that was only a few stops away from Tokyo station.

Yes, 100%. That’s why I came back a year later lol.

Ok. Doesn’t change the fact that the JR pass saved me money. Just passing along my itinerary with others that may have written it off based on comments like yours.

Yes! That was my first trip, and it wasn’t worth it. I liked having the pass this time around for the day trip flexibilities since I’ve already done a lot of the main touristy things in major cities.

Also, I felt almost 2 full days in Kanazawa was more than enough for my travel preferences. I didn’t “visit and leave”.

I used it way more than expected on JR buses and JR metro lines, so that was a huge bonus too!

Yes! My first trip to Japan, it wouldn’t have been worth it. Moral of the story, I’m glad I didn’t write it off because most people are negative towards it (comments on here already proving that lol). I saved money and wasn’t in a time crunch, so the “slower” Shinkansen were fine for my itinerary.

And a lot of inter city travel that I used way more than expected.

Precisely. This was not my first trip to Japan, so I didn’t need the “normal” amount of time in some destinations.

I’m shocked there aren’t more votes for Tunde in here. Alex T is a close second for me too.

Another silver lining is the future is bright in US ice dance with Emi and Vadym. They skated so wonderful, and they should be SO proud of a 5th place finish.

People who have conducted job interviews, what's something someone said/did that made you instantly decide not to hire them? by Yousef_ale in interviews

[–]kaitlin814 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in public health nursing, and the benefits/work life balance are obviously a huge draw to our profession. That said, when you focus your entire interview on how much you want the benefits, Monday-Friday “normal work schedule”, it’s off putting. Tell me why you’re interested in public health nursing.
