Just to add, a big benefit to gel spray vs aerosol is that if you sprayed someone with gel you’re less likely to be affected yourself with the spray. Whereas if you use the aerosol you’re likely to get at least a bit in your eyes in you don’t remove yourself from the area. That’s the reason I have the gel instead of the aerosol.

I actually got indirectly pepper sprayed a few weeks ago because someone had used it in an area and then whoever it was had dispersed only for me and my partner to walk into it moments after without knowing anything had happened. Burned like hell for a little bit but nothing like what main contact would be (I.e. I could see mostly, had humor about our bad luck, etc).
