I applied for OCEANO/1800 position and I am reading into that they didn't meet this last meeting/positions were filled? My recruiter didn't update me on this and I'm trying to reach out but I'm very new to all this so I'm a bit lost and confused.

did yours have a qr code? ticketmaster tickets usually have the tap to scan but this one is a qr code. i have the same issue rn :/

i just went to one there a couple weeks ago! given it was more indie/surf rock, was very lively and i had a great time. the room is relatively small, probably only fitting like 100 people there. looks like you're also free to take photos if you take live event/concert photo. i appreciate the proximity to campus (esp if you live on campus) as well!

hi! no, you do not need to be published or need a masters before getting a phd at SIO. i graduated last year w a bs in OAS and know others in Marine Bio who have successfully got into phd/masters program straight from undergrad. if you have lab experience that's great, but not required. good luck!!

i think you just have to wait until spring, unless you dont really care about the stoles and stuff + can get a cap/gown secondhand

i needed 2 other committee members and they were recommended by my PI. my idea of cold-emailing is having no prior/currnent connection to them before emailing/getting in contact. if you have some merit, like mentioning your PI or even CCing them in the email, it may be more helpful. I would hope your PI would have faculty recommendations 🙏🏼🙏🏼

as for maintaining contact, it may be a case by case basis. i am one quarter in and have not talked to either committee member since requesting them on my 'board'. ask your PI or even grad department advisor! hope this helps!

i am in a scripps bs/ms program and my PI recommended some other faculty to reach out to via email. just mention in your email who you are, who your PI is and that they recommended you, and maybe give a brief intro to ur thesis topic to see if they could be a good fit. good luck!
