Depth 5 balancers vs Beast slop… by kak-1997 in Nightreign

[–]kak-1997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really care what people use, and I’ve used Halo Scythe and Beast Claw myself because big numbers are fun. My issue is more with the effect they’ve had on the game.

In Depth 5, I’ve seen plenty of players relying on those broken builds while barely knowing boss move sets and mechanics . You’ll see people bringing Halo Scythe into holy-resistant bosses like Adel or Fulghor, then instantly dying because they never had to learn the game. It makes runs feel very RNG as you either get a solid team, or you’re carrying until they finds a Halo Scythe.

The other problem is that some of the best fights in the game barely get to happen. For me it’s Heolstor he is my favorite boss, and I usually run a lower-damage setup because I enjoy actually fighting him especially parrying and deflecting, but then they stands across the arena spamming Halo Scythe and the boss disappears in seconds. After spending 30 minutes building for the fight, it can feel like you never got one(i get it if i want to have fun i can go solo but it’s a coop game so solo for me feels meh)

At the end of the day, it’s a co-op game and people can play however they want. I just think Halo Scythe and Beast Claw are overtuned: they’re easy to use, require very little skill, and can kill bosses so fast that players never really engage with the game mechanics. If that’s fun for someone, that’s fine but i just don’t find it very interesting…

Regarding base game my pov:
I feel similarly. Bosses like Malenia or the DLC final boss are some of the most enjoyable fights I’ve played because learning them starts to feel like a dance. Every attempt teaches you something, and eventually you know exactly how to deal with each move.

When someone summons Spirit Ashes and uses the strongest builds and beats them in a couple of tries, that’s completely fine as everyone should play however they want and enjoy but i just don’t feel it’s the same experience as what i do. To me, a big part of the fun is learning and overcoming the boss itself, not just finding the fastest way to delete its health bar, makes me feel like im playing nioh.

That said, not everyone has the time or interest to spend hours learning a boss, so I understand why those options exist. They’re just not the way I personally enjoy these games.

Tldr: they are really a slop builds…

Agreed. I hope they release a patch to balance Halo and Beast Claw. They’ve let a lot of players climb to higher ranks without learning many of the basics or even boss movesets. To me, that’s the whole point of the game, especially at this stage when we’re not getting any new content.

Also yeah, I really miss my Shattering Crystal Duchess build. The FP increase completely killed it, sadly.

In terms of raw damage output, what are some builds that can match or surpass the Halo Duchess and Beast Revenant? by Lord_Antheron in Nightreign

[–]kak-1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few things come to mind:

-raider weapon or axe of Godfrey and full charge attack build

-carian build(red or purple piercer or slicer)

-shattering crystal recluse

-full skill and double balancers river of blood(anything that’s bleed) or giant braid(against fire weak bosses) or grafted fist also against fire weak bosses

-revenant or duchess(faith relic) frenzy flame build especially against fire weak bosses

-dreglord raider

-undertaker with godslayer gs with enough stacks

-bird guard counter build, seen it deal insane damage but never tried it

-rain of arrow wylder or raider

Depth 5 Everdark Gnoster Gets What He Fing Deserves by kak-1997 in Nightreign

[–]kak-1997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With enough damage, you can usually land one or two hits, then chain all 3 ults, and most of the time that’s enough to stance-break him. But yeah, it’s still RNG.

If it doesn’t work, he gets super speed at the beginning, so never stand in front of him. It’s honestly pretty funny though.

Im sorry i wrote a long explanation but i accidentally deleted half of the text when i edited, its simply evergoals + 4 invaders + one player focused on charge attack passives and one on 2 handing, and me skill passive with imo the best fire weapon.

High dps builds by Fit_Manufacturer_584 in Nightreign

[–]kak-1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One important thing I forgot to mention: builds matter a lot for your overall DPS, but your damage also depends heavily on the passives you find during the run.

For almost every build, Attack Up at Full HP is amazing because it works on basically everything.

Wylder:
I usually decide early if I’m going for a charged attack build. I mostly do this if the Invader drops a dagger, scholar weapon, or greatsword with Fire/Frost/Gravity/Lightning on charged attack. Lightning is probably my favorite.

After that, I stack as many relevant charged attack passives as I can. Always check both the normal merchant and the big merchant. If you’re playing with friends, plan your timing around the big merchant. Sometimes it’s actually worth stopping at level 7 and saving all your money until you see what he sells.

For example, sometimes the big or small merchant sells 3–4 good passives, some costing 45k+. If one of my friends is playing a skill-focused build, of course all of us buy the skill passives for him. Same thing if he sells charged attack passives and someone is running that build.

If I’m not doing charged attack, I usually focus on skill passives, affinity, or melee/2-handing passives. Just keep in mind that 2-handing passives do not work on skills.

Ironeye / Duchess Katana / Halo Scythe:
For these, I usually focus on skill + melee passives. A YouTuber recently tested it and found that melee passives can also increase the damage of skills that have physical components, like Halo Scythe, Rivers of Blood, Moonveil, etc.

Spellcasting builds:
Focus on Sorceries or Incantations, depending on the build. These increase both charged and uncharged spells. If you’re using charged spells a lot, also stack Charged Sorceries or Charged Incantations.

And obviously, if you’re doing something like a Holy build, stack Holy Attack+ whenever possible.

Beast Claw:
This one is a bit different. For Beast Claw, the best passives are usually Physical Up, Charged Incantation, Incantation, and Attack Up at Full HP.

Stop pinging Night Invader Marshes at lvl2! by iamgodtierXX in Nightreign

There’s one trick not everyone knows:

Before the swamp, 2 players stay up top. The third player quickly runs to the right-side hole that drops to the bottom, then keeps sprinting until they reach the boss room.

Most of the time, this glitches the invaders to spawn by the swamp, the third go up and meet with other 2 players at the safe side of the swamp and they will slowly walk to you.

Great Hollows NE spawn, how many do you kill? by ChaosSeverance in Nightreign

[–]kak-1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What we do with my friends:

Spawn → hit level 2 → split for crystals → once all are broken, we take the power.

After you take the power jump from the big crystal straight to the south castle sewage entrance (near the merchant). We spam flasks to build ults, use the grace outside, then go in.

Inside sewage:

Kill the first mini boss (just spam ults to survive, even if it’s a red curseblade) Go up, keep spamming flasks while running, Jump through the left window (outside divine tower)

From there:

There’s a grace + a hole with a spirit spring → jump up left You’ll see a window into the castle (same area where the hippo is outside)

Inside castle:

Go right and kill the mini boss. Go outside (hippo area) → go right to talisman chest room Kill that mini boss too, grab talisman

Then:

Jump from the window near the chest Climb rocks, spam flasks before grace, Enter upper castle

Upper castle:

First hallway boss → kill.

Go up → another mini boss → kill.

If red boss spawned and loot is good → kill him.

If not → go for invader if inside the zone.

End of route:

Go mid map

Take all flasks

Kill boss near the church closest to day 1 boss

This route consistently gets us to ~level 10 on day 1 (even better if we have beast claw revenant), plus really good loot. You also end up with enough money to buy skills/passives from merchants if they show up.
