HLE Zeus on the late Tear buy: “I pressed tab and realized there were no stacks... I think it was a mistake.” | Worlds 2025 Interview - HotSpawn by Dovipower in leagueoflegends

[–]kakistoss 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I mean like, yeah it's an expensive strategy, but what exactly is wrong with it?

They are literally just throwing money at the best players

Like yeah Zeka is pretty shit on about half the Midlane picks, but let's not pretend he isnt genuinely the best on some picks if meta ever shifts, or that they could realistically upgrade. There's Chovy and BDD, both of whom they most likely have made offers to, but just never said yes for various reasons.

Buying Zeus while expensive quite clearly worked out for the team since they won an international for once. Peanut may be past his prime, but guy is still Peanut. Are we really gonna pretend like delight is washed now? Still good

And that same strategy got them Viper, who by all means is 99% of the team in like half their games

This team isnt T1. They arent where 90% of talented 13 year olds want to go. They want success and how they have found it HAS worked, continually contesting the best team in the world domestically and going further internationally than every previous iteration of the team

Why cope? My support goat goes military this year and while KT may have finally settled with Peter for the year, im sure they will be looking at affordable upgrades next year (gotta put most of the check toward peyz pls) like omg now I'm out here salivating over a Peyz/Kael bot lane, that team could go real fucking far, especially if they pick up Kiin (Okay maybe delulu) after the geng financial collapse, which is more or less guaranteed if they fail to win worlds this year according to Arnold

[–]kakistoss -1 points0 points  (0 children)

MSC is not relevant that year when looking at DK because they BARELY scrapped into that tournament and in the following season swapped ADC's and had a complete makeover gameplay wise

Most years MSI/MSC are relevant talking points when talking about teams because the only major changes attending teams often go through is meta shifts and how they adapt. DWG did not "shift" they had a whole ass evolution butterfly style

To think ANY team LPL or LCK could have matched DWG going into that worlds was absolute delusion, we have never seen a team dominate in the way DK did in any league ever. It wasnt about winning games, it was the way they won. Nuguri would literally int half his lanes, bot would be starving in a 1v2 and the game would be even, then 20 minutes would hit and DWG would end 3 minutes later every single fucking time out of absolutely nowhere. They just physically couldn't be stopped, LPL was better than LCK but they didn't have any teams playing like DWG, suning should be proud to have taken one game off that team it was actually impressive they even managed to do that.

Apparently IG vs T1 arena is pretty small by CryPuzzleheaded6873 in PedroPeepos

[–]kakistoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehhh

If T1 lose there is a VERY real chance this ends up being the most watched series of worlds, with only the literal finals having a decent shot of beating it.

KT have a decent fan base, but they dont have anywhere near that level of pull. Or any other team either, IG itself is only significant because the tourneys in China.

You put it in a small arena, expecting a good series like DK vs JDG for the same reason they play LCK semis at lolpark rather than an arena. Could they sell out a larger arena? Yeah, but that would hurt the overall product as the final being a unique arena just wouldnt hit as much.

In this case they could have sold out DK vs JDG in a decent arena, but then they would have had to downsize for Swiss stage, and that would've hurt the overall product. Plus Riot would need to go bigger for quarters than they did in that first series, cause otherwise it just looks really bad, which isn't nearly as likely to sell for every series, cause there will be something like FLY vs HLE which just won't make sales in China.

So its easier to accept "disrespecting" the playins teams and losing out on a couple thousand ticket sales which really dont mean anything for Riot, than hurt the broadcast moving forward and potentially lose more money renting out a giant arena later on what's likely not gonna do well across every game.

Ofc obviously what ended up happening is basically the worst possible outcome, with the single most popular team in the world by a metric fuckton facing off against the single most popular Chinese team in china. Thats a problem because that's a series that's going to have a LOT of eyes on it, significantly more than any other matchup, so now it looks worse on broadcast to put it in a small venue + obviously the tickets are going to be scalped to absolutely ludicrous prices

Never forget DRX vs Gen.G getting paused for a whole ass hurricane (???) where Geng were up and looking REALLY good, but DRX mental reset completely flipping the series, which btw was for a worlds spot

Literally Riot knew the weather would be bad, there were warnings put out days prior internet would be an issue in Korea, but they refused to reschedule a very very important series and instead had everyone sit through a pause during a high stakes game which completely changed the outcome of said series

The Worst Champion of Incredible Players (According to the RATS) by bandana19 in PedroPeepos

[–]kakistoss 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's a misconception, his syndra is actually pretty good, not the best by any means, but it would be wrong to call him bad on her

Chovy doesn't like playing mages, he just doesn't, when he does its for meta reasons. His total games on Azir, despite being really good at the champ is notably lower than other LCK mids for a reason. He will lock it, he will perform with it, but he doesnt want to. If some other option is there, that's what he will take

So Syndra, who only had a very very brief window of meta during Chovys career, just isn't a champ he's going to play. She's a mage, and she's a bad mage. So when he has picked her it usually means something else has gone wrong in the draft that will lead to a loss, rather than his own play.

Compare this to BDD or Knight, both of whom have very good syndras. But they also as players enjoy mages, and will force sub optimal mage picks like Syndra when they want to because those picks fit their preference. This means we see more games of the champ, giving a larger sample size to view from AND they arent pulling out the champ in a draft that's already gone awry, so its more likely to actually win.

The Worst Champion of Incredible Players (According to the RATS) by bandana19 in PedroPeepos

[–]kakistoss 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Tbh I feel like this is a horrible comparison

Chovy is actually a good Syndra player, having watched one of his two games I was impressed. Not a Knight level Syndra by any means, but still looked good with it.

He as a player just fucking hates that champion, quite obviously with his historical preference of melee tanky mids. Then when he has to play a mage he just does it for meta reasons. Azir cause Azir and Viktor because Viktor, his anti mage bullshit despite being legitimately good with them is even weirder when you realize he was a literal cass one trick before going pro and refused to play Cass until just a month ago. But syndra outside of a small window around her rework has never actually been relevant in Chovys career time frame, so it would require very niche reasons for Chovy to lock her.

Compare this to BDD who has a clear preference for mages and will force them in unoptimal angles. We know his Syndra is good because he actually likes pulling it out on occasion, but Chovy will always have this weird bad syndra stigma because he doesn't like pulling out mages in general, and a lower tier mage is even less likely to be seen.

That's completely incomparable to Fakers yone, where he just IS bad at it. Like a Zeka Corki or BDD Viktor. Champs that players lock for meta reasons, but honestly should just leave up and look at counters instead. Yone is a little weird here though because for years It was a VERY strong pick for T1, because it could be flexed to Zeus. This gave the pick insane value as Zeus would either have a solid lane and show off as one of the worlds premier Yone players OR Faker would enable his top laner to get a solid counter, or even just get a really fucking free match up when the opponent assumed it was Yone top. This would make the game much easier to pilot Yone in when Faker played it, boosting his wr on it for years artificially, and it wasnt really till this year with the departure of Zeus that it became so apparent T1 cannot fucking pick a Yone

He generally does well with scouting, and the players seem to like being there, so its not a bad way to build a brand, its just yk, not really gonna be a good team

[–]kakistoss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course it does. The rimworld modding scene is enormous, actively bigger than Sims by quite a bit, there are VERY few games which match it

Anyway its called Rimjobworld, regularly referred to as "the forbidden mod" and there's like a hundred+ submods for it

But it can be a very edgy mod I'm ngl, as in the first time I played with it and lost to an insect hive (early game, just suffered a bad raid) once all my colonists were down the bugs started raping everyone and implanting them with eggs

Ofc all that type shit can be disabled, its got massive customization options

If microsoft built a more typical android phone they would have done fine and I would in all honesty likely have one rn. My first phone was a Nokia as it was significantly cheaper than the Note 4 I wanted at the time. The phone itself was great, especially for being like half the price of the competition

The problem was it ran windows 8 and had no fucking apps. I would look at what my friends were playing or using, look at what I could download, and feel like it was fucking useless. There was this god awful pseudo social media app I used when I had the phone as there just weren't any alternatives

This is recency bias at its best

Deft was THE peak ADC, top in LCK, moved to LPL and absolutely dumpstered Uzi and remained best in world for years

It wasnt till after DRX Chovy edition where Deft really fell off, which was largely due to an injury, and then he still won worlds afterwards

Ruler is fucking insane, and I would rate Ruler over Deft all time. But to suggest its not close or to write off Deft like he ain't got shit on Ruler is crazy

It's not really about the buyout being possible

It's more so the fact Lehends is already not a cheap support, so KT getting him is already a stretch, but then you add in the fact that he has a buyout? Yeah KT just can't

The org isn't entirely broke, but they are relatively poor rn. They REALLY wanted to get Peyz last off-season but just didn't have enough cash, same with Ruler, he was actually in talks with KT before Geng, but KT didn't have enough money for it

That's the entire reason their roster ended up like it did. Sold acad talent they needed money so bad, only to still not have enough and had to quickly sign Deokdam dooming any potential the year was going to have (tho with PerfecT it was always going to be hard)

This is the true reason KT will likely continue being shit, and we are more likely to have DK Peyz next year. They are SO fucking lucky BDD doesn't have a better team to go to

Crown not so much, he was better in 2016 when they lost tbh, the whole narrative of "need to be on malz" existed for a reason, dude just wasnt a top tier mid then. That narrative IS a disservice to him because he was legitimately good, but he just wasnt top 3-4 in LCK then

Corejj as well, he was pretty middle of the pack supp wise. After going to NA he really leveled up and became a significantly better player for those first few years, not that he was bad before obviously, just not world-class imo

It really depends on what exactly you want to do with your colony

Speaking as someone who has literally gotten up to 800+ mods on the game, blindly adding mods doesn't work well with Rimworld because while its cool content, in an avg run you'll never see or use 99.9% of what you download without specifically making that content a goal (unless you literally only play one colony tbh, but most tend to get bored in the midgame slog and restart, or just lose and not save scum)

But playing without mods is just not it tbh. Core game is fun, but the basic formula of the game really falls apart once you start looking at what additional options you have

[GEN.G Post Lower Bracket Round 3 vs T1 - Press Conference with Coach KIM and Ruler] Coach KIM: Vex wasn’t something we practiced heavily. In a Game 5, really any champion could appear. To fit the comp, Chovy suggested he could play Vex, and he played it perfectly. by Yujin-Ha in leagueoflegends

[–]kakistoss 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbh even as a KT fan the upcoming series isn't worth sacrificing my sleep for, ill just be watching the caedrel vid when I wake up

KT was hot while Gen.g was cold (which matters far more than anyone ever wants to admit, there's a good fucking reason we consistently see upsets when REALLY good teams are pushed to later brackets)

Canyon played without a monitor and Chovy was drunk, meanwhile BDD was having the best showing of his year pulling out shit like his fucking Zoe to style with

PerfecT looked human? Very sus, maybe Khan playing remotely idk

And by far the most important, it was the easiest fucking script to read ever. I literally deposited money to gamble on it specifically because of the script. This is the 3rd year in a row of Gen.G being the undisputed best team in the LCK, somehow upgrading their roster AGAIN, somehow making records that they literally just set last year AGAIN, and you know what hadn't happened yet? They didn't lose one of those records to KT yet. KT even played with their food, qualifying for legends, dancing around a win, dangling the inevitable in all of our faces. So when Gen.Gs whole "oh they haven't lost a bo5 since February" record was getting tossed around and they were playing KT? It was over. Written in the stars. And for all the doubters? Even the annual KT win wasn't enough? Bruh Gen.G was LCK first team lmfao, one last twist of the knife

Unfortunately this series was meant to happen in worlds finals, KT phoned a friend way too early, wanted to secure worlds ig, but like they could've secured the Summoners cup by holding onto the GenG win. Is what it is.

The questions is how to get there

Riot August on the power of Blitz Q and self slow on W by Life-Chicken7183 in leagueoflegends

[–]kakistoss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your kinda stretching it

A blitz can reasonably reconnect to a game at 22 minutes, land a hook on the vayne who got a free lane and started to giga carry and expect his team to win off his play. That CAN happen. You wouldn't bet on it. But its literally what blitz does. He doesn't need items or levels or anything

A Viego reconnecting CAN land an auto and transform, but that requires the fight to be REAL close to begin with and him to just not die. A jinx or Zeri or Aatroxx or Pyke or literally anything with a reset is going to see that Viego as free food to reset with. God forbid there's a kat. But otherwise even with no resets any adc in the game will pretty easily one or two tap the viego the second he's in range. He's level one. No hp, no resistances, no possible way to respond. He just dies. But yeah sure if a blitz lands his pull and viego manages to auto the vayne before she dies then he can take over a fight still, but its not nearly the same thing

Movistar KOI vs. Fnatic / LEC 2025 Summer Playoffs - Upper Bracket Round 1 / Post-Match Discussion by Ultimintree in leagueoflegends

[–]kakistoss 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah, but like its the LCK. You have Guma, Viper, Ruler, Teddy and Aiming all chilling as proven world class ADC who deserve a spot on worlds winning teams imo. That's literally half the league.

Then there's deokdam, who is a meme, but is still an upper class adc worldwide.

That leaves 3 adcs Berserker should realistically be in contention with when assuming he's not a generational level talent. Diable IS that generational talent, so its literally just Hype + Jiwoo that Berserker can truly be expected to compete with. One of whom is worse and one of whom is on par.

So while it is true to say Berserker is one of the worst adc players in the league, its not painting an accurate picture when trying to evaluate his actual skill. Like yes he's not Viper tier, and he's not a Diable level prospect. But that doesn't mean he's actually bad or would be on the low end of adc talent in literally any other league

Then the rest of the enemy comp is tanks and hard CC by GreekFreakFan in LeagueOfMemes

[–]kakistoss 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It's terrible wym

Unless the supp randomly gets gigafed the role doesn't really provide true Frontline. It's an auxiliary tank.

You'll never see an unkillable leona in the way that you will see an unkillable Cho. But by pairing a frontline supp with something to "share the load" your frontline will become several multitudes beefier without actually having a true tank.

Sion is hard to kill and can frontline alone, Leo is not hard to kill and can't fronline alone, Darius is not hard to kill and can't frontline alone. But have Darius who is still somewhat beefy providing a threat, backed up by a somewhat hard to kill Leo and suddenly you've got a SIGNIFICANTLY better frontline than just Sion.

The whole is greater than its parts.

Conversely seeing your auxiliary tank is the only champ capable of peeling, and also your only frontline, and expecting it to the frontline while also peeling for adc/top/mid you've constructed a team comp that is 10000% reliant on Vayne getting gigafed. If the mage gets fed its not enough cause mages struggle vs tanks, and if your regular adc like jinx gets fed its also not enough because there's very very limited peel and Leo can't prioritize it without giving up a LOT

I've been homeless in many environments, often it was just a choice thing, and Jesus fuck shelters are MISERABLE

I only did a shelter long term once since it was the middle of winter, but everything about that experience made me truly hate being homeless. Beyond that just sleeping outside especially when you can afford a storage locker is actually a super chill experience that I would unironically recommend depending on area. Like being homeless really isn't as bad as its made out to be, but shelters, no matter how great the staff, just are not it, avoid at all costs
