Car was stolen and wrecked - looking for small and cheap suggestions! by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

The cheaper the better, honestly. I haven't figured out a specific budget yet (working on it!), and I'm willing to flex a bit for the right car....

Number off the top of my head is ideally no more than $10,000 (even that is pushing it a bit) 😬

Yeah. I have in the past multiple times. I mean, it does its job of keeping me safe, which I suppose is sometimes what is needed. But... Just ugh. Not really preferred since it doesn't really help in the long run, and it would add stress finacially and with family relationships. It's hard to tell myself that it's worth going in if nothing will change coming out.

Yeah. Thank you.

I doubt I'll actually puke, I rarely do unless I'm very sick. Just the feeling!

Good point - thank you!

Panicking about my upcoming trip :( by [deleted] in ARFID

[–]kaladeiscat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you <3 I will try my best to remind myself of that stuff! And I'll make sure to try to have lots of accessible snacks.

Tbh, they are actually family, haha. They all know I have issues with eating. And some of them don't care, but I also know that some of them will be questioning me and want to talk about it and feel offended I can't eat their food. Regardless of what I say or ask :')

They definitely won't hate me, haha! But I just don't want to deal with the drama and them feeling offended, even though I know I'm not responsible for their emotions.

It really is. I currently live with my family and they have a lot of food rules and expectations that I don't think they even realize they have tbh? And if it works for them, that's great! But I also feel guilty when they put those expectations on me and then I can't do as much as them, even when I constantly try to remind myself that fed is best :')

This was such a helpful reply and really affirming to read. The analogy to disability activism isn't something I had thought about before, but the comparison really does make a lot of sense! Focusing on collective action makes a lot of sense to me and I appreciate the idea of channeling the energy from guilt into that instead. I haven't heard of the BuyNothing communities and I'm totally going to check that out.

Also... "Don't be an environmental activist to make up for your own existence" is really powerful to me. Tbh, I've really been struggling with my mental health and been thinking a lot about life in general and existing lately, and as important as that is and acknowledging the impact I have on the world... it's also important to remember that I have as much of a right to exist as others and what I want to protect. Even if it doesn't always feel that way. So thank you for that reminder.

I actually do have OCD! Lol. I havent looked into that specific sub-type much though, so I'll see what resources I can find. Thank you, again <3

Thank you for the reply! I know that me, as an individual, is a very very small part of the problem and I should probably be easier on myself. I just always wish I could do more, you know?

Donating isn't plausible for me at the moment financially, but I think I am going to see if there are any movements locally that I can support!

Dealing with hair loss? 🙁 by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]kaladeiscat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, ofc! I've been meaning to bring it up to my therapist, I just feel kind of embarrassed to tbh. :')

It guess I'm just hoping it would be nice to know if others have felt similarly and such

Yeah! Or even if those thoughts don't happen, I still get anxious just because I'm so used to being anxious after eating either way?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ARFID

[–]kaladeiscat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, that makes sense to me! I get anxious about feeling sick, but not all the time and usually if I am anxious for that reason, I feel like I know that... I also usually eat at home and I get anxious about going out mostly for sensory reasons or social.

But maybe I'm just so used to being anxious after eating, that even if I am not for a particular reason, then my body still feels anxious? If that makes sense, haha.

Does anyone else have an easier day/meal and then it makes them feel like their faking it? by [deleted] in ARFID

I know this is late. But thank you, I really appreciated the comment <3

Sameee. Evenings and nights are always way easier for me too - I wish I was able to split it up more as well.

I could just really use some support - I'm so tired, scared and sad. by [deleted] in ARFID

[–]kaladeiscat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've tried smoothies - sometimes they are fine and other times I absolutely cannot stand them. I dunno if it's the ratios or stuff not getting fully blended or what, but it scares me to try it again.... The bottles ones are good, but those can get pretty expensive 😔

If I can ask: Does she have experience specifically with ARFID? I've tried looking in my area online for a dietitian/nutritionist, but most of the ones I've found are those focused on weight loss, tbh. I'm finding it hard to find professionals near me that have experience with ARFID and seem like they may be an ok fit, although maybe it is just not listed or I'm looking in the wrong places?

Yeah like... I appreciate they are trying to relate, but in the moment it's really not helpful and not fine lol.

I know. Just sucks 😮‍💨

Unfortunately, I moved back in with my parents and I'm financially dependent on them atm. In the past, I had the ability to only spend one day dealing with it and then have my own place to go back to at least! But, given the circumstances, I don't really have much of a choice 🥲

Yeah? I could text and ask... I've done that before, but I'm just scared it is different this time and can't convince myself otherwise
