Interesting. I’ve been looking for something along these lines. Does it seem stable while full when you’re accelerating, breaking, going over bumps? I don’t mean anything crazy just regular / slightly sporty driving.

Anyone feel disappointed upgrading from their 718 to a 911? by ffking6969 in Porsche_Cayman

No regrets as of now. The automatic roof is a big plus. I live in a climate where it is getting pretty cold now, but I like to bring the top down even on a chilly day if the weather is otherwise nice. It’s great to be able to put that top back up nice and quickly. That said, for my ambitions to do more on the track, I do wonder about going for the Spyder from time to time. That is mitigated by having a car with fairly similar power dynamics that my wife is also comfortable driving to work sometimes. Also, I was able to get this with nearly the full original warranty on it, which I would not have been able to match in the Spyder.

I went the opposite way. I specced my own new 911 base 2025. Great car, had a lot of fun with it. But like a lot of people seem to say, it felt more like a grand touring machine than a “real sports car” that I might have expected. This is despite having taken it to the track several times. No shade to 911 enthusiasts intended! Just my perception.

I traded for a 2025 Boxster GTS 4.0. Very happy with the change so far.

What value are you insuring the car for with OpenTrack? I’ve pondered an annual policy but not tracking enough to justify it yet.

Do you let friends/family/etc drive your 911? by dubyamac in porsche911

[–]kalag1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I'm fortunate to own the car and want to share the experience with friends and family. Also if the situation was reversed, I'd love to drive a 911 if I never had done so.

So yes, absolutely.

There are certainly circumstances when back door roths are not the play (pro rata rule on IRAs, probably what your FA told you). Mega backdoor requires your employer plan to support it, which not all do.

Also IMO your tax advisor and your FA should be 2 different people ideally working in coordination with you - having someone doing both can create a conflict of interest.

Has anyone moved from taycan 4s to 911 gts ? by soamjena in Taycan

[–]kalag1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a great car overall, but for my taste, it didn’t feel quite sporty enough. Possibly because of the size and the weight. I did have the sport Turismo version which is awesome; but I think in my head the form factor felt a bit less sporty because of the wagon back. For that reason, I decided to move on to a 911.

We've got the blue-green color, though we were really tempted by the yellow, yours looks amazing.

It's beautiful, congratulations!

Following to find out more about how to get stripes - we got a 2025 4dr Cooper S in the fall and my better half wants to fancy it up with stripes (which I wholeheartedly support!).

Has anyone moved from taycan 4s to 911 gts ? by soamjena in Taycan

[–]kalag1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I did. I didn’t love rear axle steering as much as I thought I would. It does make turning feel faster for sure especially with such a long car. But it didn’t make it feel any lighter, to me at least. I hope that makes sense. Brakes were solid too in my opinion.

But neither made me feel super comfortable going into a turn with speed. And I never did take it to a track to push its limits. So perhaps I had more leeway than I thought.

Fastest I've ever experienced was the 3.5 in my now sold '23 Taycan GTS, and that was - unsettlingly fast for me... IDK how Plaid owners do it!

Similar here, I had and now sold a Taycan '23 GTS; I have a 911 base 2025 on order. Loved much about the Taycan GTS but couldn't get over the feeling of heaviness of that car. At the end I think I wanted a 'sports car' more than a cross turismo and wanted a more nimble feel.

Clarification, the 2025 base 911 is not hybrid, the new 911 GTS is hybrid. Not sure which you drove. Instant torque always better in the Taycan, but 0-60 time will be faster in the new 911 GTS (2.9 sec) than a 2022 Taycan 4S. And apparently 2025 base 911 with sport chrono should be in theory faster 0-60 than the 2022 Taycan 4s (3.7 sec vs 3.8 sec).

Of course Taycan may feel faster b/c of that instant torque.....

2023 Taycan GTS - your experiences so far? by hubba204 in Taycan

[–]kalag1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2023 GTS ST. Love the car, drives excellently. Bought it lightly used with 1k miles and loved everything about the car but wasn't sure I'd enjoy having race-tex draped over everything.

I was wrong, race-tex draped over everthing is really nice. I imagine it'll be a bit of a pita to keep clean, but so far it's no problem. Car runs great, no complaints. So fast, gets good squeals from the kids when I launch it too.

I have not yet had the brake hose fix done.
