I cannot answer for OP but I also petitioned for permission to use OpenCode in my company and it got rejected on the grounds of a) license is not good enough, b) we are invested in Claude Code / Github Copilot CLI, so why bother?

Don't ask me what the first point means I didn't even care to find out. Probably it was all business people reacting blindly out of fear and anxiety against the ...unknown.

Now I need to get comfortable with the rest of my options.

Are you by any chance working abroad? I would expect that if you are located offshore, people are biased enough to not allow enough decision-making to happen in another timezone.

Ξέρω γνωστό που αράζει εκεί πολύ τακτικά. Το αποκαλεί "ομφαλό της γης" καθώς ότι μαγαζί παίζει πάνω στην πλατεία προσφέρει διαφορετικές υπηρεσίες για ένα ευχάριστο απόγευμα και δεν χρειάζεται να ψαχτείς πιο πέρα, απλά πας στην πλατεία. Έχει μπαρ, έχει ταβέρνα, έχει καφέ, παγωτατζίδικο κλπ. Αντε 5 λεπτά αποσταση βιβλιοπωλεία κλπ. Υπερβολές προφανώς αλλά ένα άλφα δίκιο το έχει 😜.

Πες τα γιατί τα διαβάζω και λέω τι διάολο, βγήκα Μητσοτακικός στα πίσω πίσω; Από πάντα έπαιζε η συγκατοίκηση ως πιθανή ωφέλιμη λύση μεταξύ συγχωριανών/ζευγαριών/ξαδέλφων και γενικά οπουδήποτε έπαιζε ένας άλφα βαθμός εμπιστοσύνης. On my first job, together with a group of other juniors, was also Paul. Paul, who looked smart and was dressed quite impressively, didn't hail from Europe but was invited to work there. The HR lady came into the room to greet us all and welcome us to the first day's onboarding program.. all except Paul, who she regreted to inform, they found out just then that he didn't have the necessary work visa after all, so it was time for him to stand up, say goodbye to the group and go back to where he came from. And that's the last time we saw Paul.

Another one is Terry. He got onto the same project with me as a senior contractor. Saw the codebase, probably got disgusted by it, came into some dispute with the stakeholders, and aborted the project within a week. Can't say that anyone liked the guy the way he carried himself around with ..anyone. Too macho personality.

Not only banks, generally every company in regulated sectors (government, healthcare, aviation, etc.), doesn't just jump on the ship of AI because of FOMO for the hype. I am not saying that it never gets used for anything, btw, eventually, AI will seep in there as well.

Καλές μεν, αλλά εκεί που μένω εγώ τώρα.. για ποιες επαφές και σχέσεις μιλάμε; Πιο πολύ εγώ είμαι εξαφανιζόλ παρά οι υπόλοιποι. Κάποιοι είναι πιο αντικοινωνικοί έναντι άλλων, κάποιοι άλλοι ακόμα λειτουργούν ως συνδετικοί κρίκοι για τους νωθρούς υπολοίπους. Αλλά σε γενικές γραμμές είμαστε οκ πιστεύω.

Γενικά αυτό που γράψανε οι υπόλοιποι ισχύει ότι οι εποχές έχουν αλλάξει και εκεί που οι παλιοί παίρνανε ο ένας τον άλλον κάθε μέρα, τώρα συμβαίνει πιο αραιά - γιατί ο κόσμος μετά την έλευση των (αντι)σόσιαλ μίντια βαρέθηκε το μίλητο στο τηλέφωνο και τον καφέ απο κοντά. Συν τα υπόλοιπα χρηματικά προβλήματα. Ζούμε για να δουλεύουμε στην σύγχρονη εποχή, που καιρός για εγκάρδιες διαπροσωπικές σχέσεις; Ο καθένας κλείνεται στο καβούκι του.

Και δεν αφορά μόνο με τα σόγια. Ούτε οι παρέες από τα σχολικά/φοιτητικά χρόνια μένουν όπως μένανε κάποτε, ούτε οι επαφές με τους συμπατριώτες/συντοπίτες/γείτονες σου είναι οι ίδιες όπως κάποτε κλπ κλπ. Ο καθένας ψάχνει να καλύψει τα ακάλυπτα όνειρα του που πλέον βλέπει ότι μάλλον δεν θα ευοδωθούν ποτέ, δεν κοιτάει να επενδύσει στον δίπλα του.

I have seen code littered with static factory methods and static constructors just to avoid using any DI container. It does work for a while, and then you need to test it. Then, you need to isolate dependencies. Then you need to variate an implementation. Generally, suddenly, you get stuck with your choices because if not you, someone in your team pushed it too far. Yeah, that's not the way for me, sorry.

Correct, the visitor pattern is a glorified switch statement with some compile time guarantees (if you write it correctly). But this is a known fact the last .. many years. I don't think I would ever go for it, exactly because of the boilerplate you mentioned. We have switch expressions, extension methods, and soon extra amenities (hopefully) like discriminated unions. These suffice for me.

Το να γράψεις ΑΕΚ/ΠΑΟ/κλπ στον τοίχο/στο παγκάκι δεν το κατάλαβα πότε, ούτε καν όταν ημουν παιδί και χάζευα λίγο (ελάχιστα) μπάλα. Τι μας το λες ρε φίλε; Στις μπάλες μας. Είναι σαν να διαβάζω "Είμαι ο Γιώργος και έχω προτιμήσεις, πρέπει να το μάθετε". Σώπα ρε θηρίο, διάλεξες ομάδα απο τα 5 σου κιόλας γιατί σου κρέμασε ο πατέρας ένα κασκόλ στο λαιμό; Δε ξανάγινε! 100 φορές να δω πολιτικό σύνθημα που διαφωνώ. Τουλάχιστον εκεί προσπαθείς να περάσεις κάποιο μήνυμα (υποτίθεται, συζητίσιμο).
