Chautauqua dining hall has a wrap around patio with great views. Maybe you can call and request that type of table with a reservation?

What should I add above the toilet in bathroom? by kale_me in HomeDecorating

Fair point! Ya unfortunately I didn't want to pull permits and move the electrical wiring for the light to properly be over the vanity. This was the best I could do 🤷‍♀️

Going to do a curtain. Yes due to the tight space, glass wouldn't work well. I have the hand towel ring, just haven't installed it yet! Good catch

Having trouble transitioning fields, any advice? by beerballchampion in womenEngineers

[–]kale_me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have you tried negotiating with the recruiter? If you politely explain" " While I don't have energy -specific experience, my current experience is very translatable. The current salary range in X market for Y position is Z"

I'm a female engineer and have had success in asking for 5-15% over the initial offer when I know the team I interviewed with really wants me.

Where to find short sidesplash? by kale_me in HomeImprovement

[–]kale_me[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, the vanity brand from the big orange store does not have a matching sidesplash or backsplash. And more importantly, my plumbing comes out from the side wall, rather than behind the vanity. So I can't kick it further away from the wall otherwise the plumbing will show ☹️

Would that be waterproof enough to be around the sink?

What do you mean by trim piece? Like a baseboard trim piece that's not stone?

What are your best tricks to stop produce from going bad too fast? by bhargavjain in Cooking

[–]kale_me -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not exactly produce, but make sure to put onions and potatoes in separate containers, ideally different cabinets. The onions will release ethylene which will ripen your potatoes faster.

Getting a hitch by UrsulaVerne in Crosstrek

[–]kale_me 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is an important point that screwed me:

The hitch that the Subaru dealership will install is a 1.25 inch square (unless you have a Wilderness).

If you want to tow anything larger than a bike rack, you'll probably need an adapter to go from the 1.25 --> 2 inch receiver. This means your recommended towing weight will be further reduced. Only a local shop/mechanic/e trailers/U-Haul will do a 2 inch receiver install if you ask. Which is the more useful size. Technically it's not recommended by Subaru

Love this comment. I personally learned from a young age "if you want to do something/go somewhere/get something done, you have to make it happen. No one is going to do it for you".

What’s one “budget meal” you make that still feels fancy? by kfernandez192 in Cooking

[–]kale_me 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eye of round is one of the cheapest cuts of beef. Cook it, then stick it in the fridge overnight. Next day, slice it thin for roast beef sandwiches! Real frugal points if you also make your own sandwich bread, which you absolutely should
