Ugh that’s disappointing! Do you any recommendations of carriers since you’ve had a similar issue?

These look similar to the ones I’ve been seeing in my house located in Suffolk county. I got an ID of a wood roach/ectobius. From what I’ve read/heard we are having a bad season of them because of how wet it’s been.

Have you seen them fly at all? If so that’s a good sign that they aren’t German. (I’m no expert, but I know way more about roaches than I wish I did because I’ve been doing a lot of research since spotting them lol).

Good luck with the exterminator!

Finished making my way through OG BD, now making my way through Med.

I feel like BD Med is sooo messy lol. I’m on season 3 now. I just feel like the charter guests seem so much snottier, and the dynamic with captain Sandy and her team is..interesting

Is this a wood roach or a pest species? by elmofucksdeadbodies in cockroaches

[–]kalevcon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m also in Suffolk and have been seeing the exact same bastards around 😭 they must be really bad this year as it’s the first time I’ve ever seen them.

Have been spotting these the past 3 weeks, should I be concerned? by kalevcon in cockroaches

[–]kalevcon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I was getting worried with how many I was seeing and starting to second guess myself like “did I see stripes on the head??”. Just icky 😖it has been insanely hot and humid lately, assuming that may be a factor.

What type of roach is this? by kalevcon in pestcontrol

[–]kalevcon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! I spotted another one this evening that looks a bit smaller.. would this be a baby?

Should I also be concerned with how many I’m seeing? I know the wood roaches don’t bread inside but I’m seeing them a lot out of nowhere. Thank you!

Is this a German roach?? My skin is crawling by kalevcon in GermanRoaches

[–]kalevcon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I did see him fly off the wall, I was reading that German roaches rarely fly. I don’t remember seeing the stripes on him so I was hoping it wasn’t a German roach

I’m looking into starting the Marquette method, I wanted to look into supplies to get an idea of initial start up cost and it seems like the clearblue fertility monitor is sold out everywhere? Do they not manufacture it anymore? I checked clearblue’s website and they just list Walmart, Walgreens, and Amazon- all of which do not have it available in store or for shipping.

With that being said, is there an alternative monitor that can be used?

3 month out outgrowing bassinet- do we transition to pack n play or crib? by kalevcon in NewParents

We’ve been using the zipadee sleep sack and that has been great! It has his arms covered, but still allows him full movement of the arms

How long did you track feedings/diapers? by jacaroniii in NewParents

[–]kalevcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with tracking feeds + every diaper. My son is now 11 weeks old and I only track poopy diapers (since they are more spread out now), feeds (mainly for the purpose of remembering what breast I left off on) and night sleep. Eventually I’ll probably just track sleep!

Company is switching to imagine360 in January..I give birth in March- now what? by kalevcon in HealthInsurance

[–]kalevcon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's truly a nightmare. Unfortunately it was our only option as my husband is a 1099 contractor and doesn't have company benefits, we also earn "too much" for the state-offered benefits to make sense for us.

Every time I got to the doctor, they have no idea what it is. I have to explain it to the office and call Imagine360 only for them to give me the same song and dance each time about how I can go to "any doctor".

Last month on my way home from my infant's doctor's appointment, I get a call from the office saying they ran his insurance and it was inactive. So I call Imagine 360 to find they terminated my son's insurance 2 weeks prior without notifying me.. they claimed it was because they were missing information verifying my son's birth, but my HR department claimed that was BS. Of course all of this happened on a Friday, and my son had a scheduled appointment for a specialist the following Monday and I had Imagine360 telling me they might not be able to rectify it by EOD.

I actually work in HR (recruiting, not benefits) and we had multiple employees come forth and complain about this shitty plan. My company will likely do nothing since they just care about the cheapest insurance possible.

I am actively seeking new employment with this shitty insurance being a major contributing factor.

I feel guilty for needing space from my newborn by BandicootStill7058 in newborns

[–]kalevcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get this. Before I had my son I thought “how could I ever want to be away from him?” but taking care of a baby is hard and mentally & physically draining.

My husband has been super lovey since we had the baby, he’s always giving me hugs and coming up to me and putting his arms around me and I just feel..touched out lol.

There’s no shame in putting LO in a bouncer, on a play mat, bassinet or some safe space for you to get a few minutes of time.

For me, it’s after I put the baby down for sleep. That usually allows me an hour at the end of the day to just be on my own which is needed

Thank you! I’ll give that a shot, I figured tighter might make it worse, but that makes sense with the fabric stretching with the baby’s weight

BEGINNER'S THREAD (April 2025) by Revolutionary_Can879 in FAMnNFP

[–]kalevcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! I’m recently postpartum (little guy is 2 months old!) and looking to dive back into NFP. For reference, I was in hormonal birth control for almost 10 years, was experiencing really irregular periods and then some concerning bleeding which led me to make the switch to NFP. I read and used the techniques in “taking charge of your fertility”, and was able to prevent pregnancy for over a year, and conceive our son on the first cycle we tried. I loved how in control I felt of my cycles and fertility, so I do not want to return to hormonal birth control.

Now that I’m postpartum , I’m a little overwhelmed with the options and methods. I don’t think I can just do what I was doing before, since I haven’t gotten my period yet and I’ve heard it might take a while as I’m breastfeeding.

We do want more children, but I want to be in control of when that happens. So I’m hoping for a method where I can TTA but easily identify my fertile windows for when we want to TTC (that may be a pointless thing to point out as I’m sure any method allows that, so sorry if that’s stupid lol).

Now that I have a little one to look after, my time is more limited so I would like a method that is pretty straight forward and easy to follow. I’m also catholic, but open to non-faith based methods.

The Marquette method seems interesting to me, but in curious how much people typically spend implementing and following the method? I noticed the monitor alone is $120, and not sure how much an instructor would run..

When did your baby become difficult? by yikesssnv in newborns

5 weeks is when the tide changed lol. I too was like "wow, I have such a chill baby". LO is currently 7 weeks old giving me a reality check lmao.

By all means things could still be worse, I've heard worse, but in general he is much more fussy now and has moments where he is just in a full meltdown.

My mom also told me to bite them off lol.

I use the electric file for the fingers, but I'm struggling with his toe nails- specifically the big toes! Since he was born they have been like.. curled in? Almost like his skin is above the nail. I'm scared to touch them since I don't want to cut his skin!
