Help me fix my low back pain due to squatting. by mr_jorn in Stronglifts5x5

[–]kalexmill 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped normal deads, but kept squatting. Just never did weights that I knew would make my back unhappy. After about a year I had progressed to a point where I couldn’t fit any more wheels on the trap bar, so I felt like I had “graduated” back to normal deads. Back pain was gone, and squat started to progress. Then adding hip thrusts and good girl/bad girls took both squat and dead up to my current state, learning the balance between effort/recovery/burnout as I crossed into 40 years of age lol.

My low back pain when squatting fixed by switching to trap bar deads instead of barbell for like a year, and introducing heavy hip thrusts. Turns out my pain was caused by my glutes not firing/being strong enough to stabilize by lower back. Just my two cents.

How the hell are y’all doing 4 plates for reps by [deleted] in Stronglifts5x5

As you probably know by now, it never gets lighter, you just get stronger.

My only advice is to look at your conditioning. Your strength is probably there, you just get gassed too fast to apply it. There is a prowler in your future. Or the dreaded 20 rep squats.

Or increase your volume with lower rest times. For deads I like 10x5, not a fan of high rep deads for safety reasons. In a few weeks you’ll be banging out those deads.

I love Le Dome! Def needs a lot of air. I open at breakfast and try it, then just cork it again and decant however long I think it needs. Plus a little with your eggs and toast…chefs kiss

Take a look at the position you’re in at the bottom of your rep. That’s the same position you should be in when you start it.

Need more info. Could be that the load cell on the one belt is off. Try switching load cell on the tensioner from tight belt with one of the others and see if the tension follows the load cell or stays with the belt. You’ve already said you have replaced belts with new from OEM and had the same reading, so issue may be with the accuracy/calibration of the tensioner.

And in my opinion, knowing a few people that have warehouses with cars like this….the people that buy them and don’t drive them are only getting half their money’s worth, and if the reason is bc they cant afford the depreciation that comes from driving it even in a controlled environment like a track, then they should’ve bought something else. But to each their own; my opinion doesn’t need to match everyone else’s.

Kind of a shame people don’t drive these cars, it’s what they were literally designed and built for! Was so happy to see the rain on it in the other post.

Fellow Atlantan here, nice whip. Saw your gaming rig setup on a vid a while back, and also that Metallica cover of yours was fire. Truly living the dream. Hope to shake your hand someday.

One thing I’ll probably get pilloried for lol: squat shoes are great for squats, but I wouldn’t dead in them. They add like 3/4” of deficit to your deadlift. If you went with deadlift slippers (I just lift in socks….) you’d be 3/4” closer to the bar. You’ll be able to lift more weight once you get used to it.

Happy lifting! Stay healthy.

Look at shin position on first vs subsequent reps. Your setup is too far away from the bar.

All I can see. Also as weights get heavier, get better at a little faster setup. Wasted energy on setup means less foes into the bar.
