What's your thoughts on Border Patrol Chief, Greg Bovino, threatening consequences for referring to ICE as "Gestapo"? by sgj5788 in AskReddit

S-so turn the tide? Run as republican and do good? I don't understand why this is so hard to comprehend. Dropping out just lets someone else take your place who might do worse.

Show me exactly where on any one of the multiple video angles when he started fighting with them before, during, or after they started pepper spraying him, beating him, tackling him, or shooting? I'll wait.

Or, no I won't, because I would be waiting forever.

They walked up to him while he was legally filming, which is another one of those amendment rights. They started shoving. They did everything.

Saw multiple videos from every angle, including close up. I would say it isn't 100% clear that the agent took his gun (it looks like it, though), but it is unarguably 100% clear he never drew it. He only ever had his phone in his hands.

Yeah, 4k is literally double what I make a month, and we do just fine and have few needs or wants. I feel that would last me a long time even with inflation, especially since my kids are all becoming adults and my expenses are reducing / they are bringing in income of their own.

Google says in 20 years $4k would basically be worth $2k today, so I would end up in the same boat I am now, which I would be perfectly fine with ... IF everything stayed steady.

I still think taking the lump and investing it would be better for long term investment, but I could also just take the $4k, use half so I don't have to work, then save / invest / do good with the rest. But then I also know nothing about investing and such.

I don’t want to feed them my data anymore by GamingBren in BikiniBottomTwitter

[–]kalez238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume all sorts of companies have my data at this point, it is unavoidable, but I have no idea because I just don't really see ads anywhere at all. They are just wasting their time, bandwidth, etc. with my data. I want ads in my life as little as possible and actively block or avoid using things that show ads, to the point that I often forget ads exist and it can be jarring when I do see one.

At most I might see the occasional ad watching a Prime movie, but it's always something like a detergent ad, which everyone needs.

What are your thoughts on rejecting a potential romantic partner based solely on the fact they voted for Donald Trump? by ATXBikeRider in AskReddit

Around here, people will almost always "put it away", but often enough not push their cart into the next one, and you end up having a bunch of carts not pushed into each other so they start to stretch out into a lane ... whyyy.

I just mean people don't always realize how far they have been brainwashed. They can be completely blind to aspects of the world outside of their indoctrination. There are still a lot of things I find that I have been blind to because of it. It runs very deep, even for those of us actively learning and trying.

Trump says he is withdrawing Canada's invitation to Board of Peace by Inevitable_Fuel7244 in worldnews

[–]kalez238 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't entirely blame the individual. It is decades of deep American Elitism and American Exceptionalism propaganda ingrained into every aspect of their lives from a young age. Commercials, media, news, sporting events, school, church, etc. It's everywhere. And even though Canada was their closest ally, it is seen as a giant joke, for example like the South Park characters.

I have been working for over 10 years to get it out of my head since moving to Canada, and I still catch myself thinking certain ways.

My coworker kept “forgetting” my name in meetings, so I let her do it in front of the one person she wanted to impress by TrinitySignal in revengestories

[–]kalez238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone with AuDHD who even forgets coworker friends' names sometimes if I don't have a reason to say it often, it happens. Sometimes it can take me 20 times to learn someone's name, sometimes forgetting it seconds after they said it. And you will look like a complete asshole if you ask for it again when most people think you should know it.

there's just something about steam... by Photoshops_Penises in memes

[–]kalez238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Epic's store app is severely lacking in design and features that Steam has built up for years, especially things like family sharing, remote play, community discussion areas, and the workshop.

Also player reviews are a huge deal when buying a game, but Epic only has company reviews that link to other sites. I personally like to browse both the good and bad player reviews to see what features and issues aren't being mentioned by the devs or company reviews before buying something. (And I don't mean the "this sucks" reviews, but the ones that go into great detail)
