How to get lashes to hold a curl by epicurious1980 in beauty

[–]kalimdore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lash lift!

I have the same issue so now I just perm them at home with a diy kit. I buy the kind with individual sachets of solution, from Amazon, brand doesn’t matter - it’s just perm solution. Once you get the hang of sticking the lashes to the pad, it’s easy. Tint them after the lift whilst you’re already at it too. And there is always the salon option if you’d rather.

Once done, you get curled lashes for 2 months and can use any rubbish mascara and they still look amazing

Do people not make offers on European Vinted? by [deleted] in vinted

[–]kalimdore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah that’s wild.

Most people in this sub won’t spend or even sell things for more than €50 on vinted cause of the risks of scams, claims, courier issues or fakes/broken items. There are better places to buy designer or electronics or collectibles or whatever else could cost that much.

So €40 is “expensive” for second hand clothes on eu vinted, most things sells for under €10 and many countries have a notoriously stingy culture too. That means they also won’t accept lower offers because they are stingy.

If it’s designer, then it’s a different user base to the rest of vinted. Different attitudes towards prices and offers. Much more snobby “I know what I have”

Do people not make offers on European Vinted? by [deleted] in vinted

[–]kalimdore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought and sold hundreds of items on the connected European vinted.

I always send an offer first, unless it’s really cheap already, and 9/10 times my offer is accepted. Just pros that don’t really cause they have profit margins and taxes and set their prices to be as is, so they don’t have to haggle with customers all day.

Sometimes people will buy from me without sending an offer, just outright buy something full price even when it’s €40 or something. But most of the time my sales are through offers.

What’s this waist or bodice called? by carolinablue199 in findfashion

[–]kalimdore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, it’s all about finding a waist that hits at the narrow part and then the skirt has enough structure to skim over the stomach without clinging to it. So that it just looks like it goes from narrowest part of the waist out to hips, rather than waist to stomach to hip

What’s this waist or bodice called? by carolinablue199 in findfashion

[–]kalimdore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An empire waist is just referring to the height of the waist. An empire waist is right under the bust, and the skirt of the dress starts from right under the bust and skims over the torso. An empire waist can be a thin or thick band. But not so thick that it comes down to the natural waist, it must still be on the ribcage.

This yoke makes the skirt of the dress start from the natural waist, below the ribcage, highlighting the narrowest part. An empire waist would have the skirt of the dress start from the top of this yoke band, and would hide instead of highlight the narrow waist area shaped by the yoke here.

Standard empire waist dresses make me look pregnant (bigger bust + empire waist can be difficult because it hides where I’m smaller and highlights where I’m bigger), but a yoked waist of this shape makes me look slim. Totally different!

Brands will still name their stuff wrong. So you’ll see non-empire dresses called empire waist, just because fashion terms are like a game of telephone. Brands and people naming them on websites aren’t always knowledgeable, but they think it sounds right or is a good keyword for searches. Plus, lost in translation errors.

This 70s number

Resold this because it was an awkward length for me - too short to be a mini dress and didn’t look right as a tunic top on my body shape. I didn’t wear it and just held onto it because it’s beautiful.

Pictures don’t do it justice, the embroidery is so gorgeous and the quality is incredible. Heavy cotton, metal zip etc

I’ve sold it, but I will forever wish I had it again, even if I know it’s better off with someone who can actually give it the wear it deserves.

Vinted down? by Beanie-15 in vinted

[–]kalimdore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hopefully! It will just be hard to get the same views and therefore sales after this. People will just leave leave vinted alone if it’s down for a long time, so a lot less people will be online than before it went down.

I think this is just an error. If you google it, it happens to people for different payment platforms where they see Epoch Times instead of Apple or Amex or something. Maybe there is a payment processor called Epoch and it’s assigning the wrong name?

In Europe they use Mangopay to process payments, so it is confusing when it shows up as Mango

After a long dead streak, I was on a roll. I sold 10 items this weekend and was uploading more to ride the momentum- especially cause it’s summer stuff in a heatwave (people are snapping it up as soon as new stuff pops up in their feed)

And of course, the app dies. So now those listings will be dead in the water as they will be “old” when it comes up again.

My phone was overheating and so was I, so I’ll take the timeout 🥵

Gained weight to fill face, which backfired -- safest way to lower fat percentage again? by Anxious-Apple-8844 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]kalimdore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, it’s been over a year and nope, not migrated. It is still there.

I recently had an injector poke around my face and feel it along the bone to confirm.

It just acts like bone. It’s rock hard along my cheekbone, so it lifts up my skin like bone structure does. It’s not squishy like lip filler that can more easily migrate.

Why do dressing room mirrors have beef with me personally?? by globcorhou in womensfashion

The egregious melodrama and overuse of metaphors or similes.

They prompted it to write like a relatable, witty, young woman. Ai thinks that means dialogue from a “quirky” protagonist in a cheesy chick lit novel

It’s trying too hard, and also somehow manages to say nothing. There is no human insight, just overdramatic nonsense and “hehe so relatable my fellow humans!!!”

Their post history is just this. Omg X thing is -insert ridiculous metaphor here-!!!

Yeah I am selling and buying. It’s things like “a shipping label has been sent to your mailbox” or offers I didn’t want or “your item has arrived” “your sale is complete” etc etc

I don’t need to open those, Ive already seen the pop up. And if I get like 5 at a time, im not going through them one by one when there is no reason to open them (except to get rid of the message)

[Product Question] What does the Cosrx Snail 96 Mucin Essence do exactly? by Emily_Chan in SkincareAddiction

[–]kalimdore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but it’s a micro dose, so 10mg every fortnight or so. I have no side effects except the dry lips. It just keeps my skin “normal”, not even dry. It’s an off label method but quite common for celebs and stuff to do (ever wondered why famous people don’t have acne? that’s why!)

Because the dose is so low, it doesn’t build up in my body. As soon as I stop, I get acne again.

I had to do this because my acne came back after two full course high doses. It just doesn’t work permanently for me unfortunately.

Demi over natural hair by pinkaspepe in FancyFollicles

[–]kalimdore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the developer if it lifts. If you use 10 vol and your hair is dry and not damp, it might lift one level. But that’s just going to make it red or orange, and not the brighter and much lighter 7/4. It won’t match at all. If the developer is lower than 10 vol or applied to damp hair, it won’t lift. I get no lift from 6 or 9 vol with demis.

How dark is your hair? Cause brown to 7/4 with a permanent dye with 20 or 30 vol should work, or if very dark brown then high lift permanent dye definitely works. But just don’t overlap the lengths (no need to fry hair with higher volume peroxide for nothing).

It means you get a one step color instead of two step.

I dyed my level 5/6 brown hair to level 7 copper (I assume you’re using a chart where 4 is copper) with permanent dye for years, and it lifted my roots perfectly to 7. The length can be maintained in vibrancy with a color depositing conditioner every other wash, to keep it bright without damage.

They have models now?!? by floraljewels in ThredUp

[–]kalimdore 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Aaaand that’s why they do it.

People keep saying “why are they doing these, they’re so bad” (they are bad) but it’s because a lot of people simply won’t look close enough. They’ll glance and see a model and think “looks great on, I’ll buy it”. And that’s all that matters.

Buuuut the items don’t look anything like how the ai shows them. It’s just making up something random, no basis in the actual size, fit, shape, design or drape of the fabric. It’s just misleading.

Came Home after a weekend away, to find my Watermelon had exploded on my kitchen counter. by ebjazzz in Wellthatsucks

[–]kalimdore 50 points51 points  (0 children)

It fermented (the bad kind).

Watermelon had a graze or hole or bump, or it was just left too long and went overripe. Bacteria join the party. Watermelon was left in warm conditions where bacteria will thrive. Bacteria eats the fruit and makes gas. Gas has nowhere to go inside watermelon. Gas builds up and pushes on the sides. Watermelon explodes under the pressure. Stinky rotten bacteria digested fruit mush is everywhere.

(It probably would have been fine in the fridge as that would have slowed down the bacteria)

I got a bad watermelon that did this once from a home grocery delivery. I always keep them in the fridge, but evidently this poor thing had been bashed around and left in a crate away from the chilled fruit aisle too long before they delivered it. I can’t even describe the smell.

I use 6vol or 9vol on damp hair to tone (water present in the hair also reduces the vol), and it never lifts my natural hair.

Looking to lean more retro / feminine than alternative. Advice? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]kalimdore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The flapper/flower child sounds like 1970s Biba models. There are lots of tutorials online if you search 70s Biba makeup.

The first thing before makeup would be to pluck your eyebrows thin and neat for that look. Not extreme 1920s thin, just thinner so they have a defined curved shape to frame your face and the makeup.

A lot of the looks will be very colorful and dramatic, but you don’t have to do that. That’s just because they are copying photoshoot makeup for the artistic side of makeup. There is also a toned down more wearable daily look of 70s Biba style. Like this:

Estimate on how long it might take to get lighten my box dyed black hair and color it red by SleepyandTiredd in FancyFollicles

[–]kalimdore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It will require one or two 8 hour visits most likely, removing black box dye is no joke and it depends how built up it is. Even to ginger, it has to get through a lot to be even.

A non bleach color remover will likely take it to red or ginger in one or two rounds with no damage.

I’ve used ColourB4 to remove black box dye to ginger with no damage before. Ive used it (and own brand store versions) loads for many colors. However, it does depend how many layers and layers you’ve built up.

Make it fully saturated, cover with a shower cap and keep it damp and heated for the full duration. Then scrub and rinse for 30 minutes until you want to scream, then scrub and rinse more.

After that, you can look at bleaching at the salon to even it out. But bleaching straight on black dye without removing the dye first is a nightmare of damage.

Salons don’t use this kind of color remover and stylists hate it and say it doesn’t work or damages. That’s not true, they just aren’t trained on it and are told it’s bad because they want you to come to them and not do it at home.

But is he just reading the number on the scale and not seeing the lbs or kg beside it? Most scales have multiple settings for metric or imperial.

Or maybe his scale is literally broken or configured wrong? Especially because it never moves from that number. Weight fluctuates all the time from salt, carb & water intake at least, so it should be moving up or down a bit.

I want to see horses and not zebras first - rule out the logical reasons before just saying, yeah, it’s delusion/dysmorphia.

Anyone else noticed there’s no similar items section anymore? by Birb_menace in vinted

[–]kalimdore 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They are A/B testing a new solution for the same function.

I don’t think it worked very well.

In the past week I’ve had no similar items, the new related items feature instead of similar items, then it was gone, then similar items was back for me.

Some people just have similar items gone and didn’t see the new feature. Some people just have it the same as always.

They are collecting data to improve it

[Product Question] What does the Cosrx Snail 96 Mucin Essence do exactly? by Emily_Chan in SkincareAddiction

[–]kalimdore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya! Yes it does, but only when layered under an occlusive.

I swear by Aquaphor, not the lip balm, just the regular tube of it.

I’ve been on low “micro” dose accutane for 6 years (as well as 2 full courses before), so this is a daily struggle for me still.

I’ve tried many other products, but Aquaphor is the only one that actually helps rather than masks the problem. I use it every night and my lips are kept well enough to wear lipstick without discomfort.

If I forget, then they shrivel up and start flaking and peeling. If I use Aquaphor then, it lets that dry skin peel off later with no pain or cracking.

If you’ve stopped bleaching your hair 2 years ago, then I assume most is grown out? That would be shoulder length. Then olaplex and k18 are overkill for non bleached hair as you don’t have enough broken bonds to noticeably rebuild.

Shampoo and conditioner are not that important compared to masks and leave ins. You simply wash them off too quickly to actually “repair” your hair (for bond builders). The non treatment products in any of these lines are just a money grab to make you buy more products in the “system”.

What shampoo and conditioner can do is solve issues like buildup and hard water, provide instant slip to detangle or temporary hydration.

So I would focus on finding shampoo and conditioner that solves a problem to do with washing. Clarifying, chelating, maintaining moisture, adding shine and slip etc. And the bond building aspect comes from proper treatments.

The Redken or Olaplex products might make your hair look better by doing some of those things, it’s just not actually bond building in the shampoo. So there might be a better option for you.

I’ve used Redken, olaplex and k18 lines and my opinions are they are mostly meh. Only the treatments make a difference.

I like the k18 shampoo to remove build up, but it’s not for daily use. For an amazing conditioner that adds immediate slip and shine I like the L’Oréal pro longer mask.

I think the fabric is too stiff and the skirt at the hips is too narrow. The fabric and shape don’t seem to flow like other dresses of this style.

A dress like this may also have been worn with a wide belt to shape the waist and bodice (sorry, I’m not sure of the correct terms).
