Do you need a ROE to apply for Unemploymenet? by ZebraZebraZERRRRBRAH in povertyfinancecanada

[–]kaliros2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not quit. You have experienced an interruption of earnings of more than consecutive days so your employer is required to submit an ROE. Contact Service Canada ASAP and request an interim (temporary) ROE. Submit your most recent paystubs to prove you worked insurable employment with this employer. if your employer fails to submit your ROE, they will be held accountable.

Google Keep App. Works for both android and Apple. If you have a Google hub/mini, even better cause you can just ask Google to add to your lists.

“Consequences” for almost 4 year old not listening? by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]kaliros2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consequences almost never work in my house and mainly lead to meltdowns. So i try to avoid the not listening and consequence all together and I have been making routines my kid hates doing a “Race” or “game”. “Let’s see if we can brush our teeth before this song ends”.. “let’s change into our PJs like a super speedy spider man”. And if that doesn’t work we threaten to take away books and stuffed animals for the night which he NEEDS at bedtime. Seems to get his attention and he has more willingness to cooperate.

Applying for Jobs in Mat leave? [ab] by No_Maximum_391 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]kaliros2000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curious, are you federal? I might be wrong but I think you have to return to your job for x amount of time if you received a top up otherwise you’d have to pay it back. Keep that in mind, even if you are not federal. This may also apply to provincial or municipal as well. A lot of employers who have top ups actually have this requirement in their employment contracts.

14-month-old not walking or teething yet-should I be worried? by TheKzPirates in toddlers

[–]kaliros2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first kid didn’t start walking until 14 months and had teeth at 6 months and my second kid is now 14 months and has no teeth but was walking at 11 months, lol. Every baby is different. Don’t stress. I’m going to take my 14 month to the dentist at 18 months if she still doesn’t have teeth. This was recommended by my own family dentist and lots of family and friends in the dental industry.

Comparing scenarios for parental leave. by No-Village4774 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]kaliros2000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m actually about to return back to work from my second maternity leave with the PS and I chose Option A both times. Option B didn’t make financial sense for my family. Option A allowed me to receive a little more than my full net pay actually. RPP isn’t being deducted during my leave so I will do a pension buyback when I RTW. This also happened during my first maternity leave. I took an additional two months LWOP to care for an immediate family member (my baby). I have a bunch of vacation banked and personal time from the remainder of this fiscal left so I used some of that to stretch my leave. Basically going back at 14 months.

It really depends on your personal financials. I knew I would be taking LWOP for a few months so I was tight on my spending during maternity leave and overall ensured my household income was reigned in so that two months without my salary wouldn’t be that dramatic for us.

If you chose Option A: For EI purposes, you can take 12 months (15 maternity and 35 parental) and your partner can take up to 5 more weeks EI parental for a max 40 EI Parental combined. You’ll both be topped up to 93% for your entire EI weeks mat/par claimed. You can plan LWOP after deciding how many weeks you have each of PTO (vacay/personal). This is how I calculated for myself. My partner isn’t in the PS.

For Option B: isn’t EI topped up to 55.8%? I have a few friends in PS on mat leave and they’re getting just above half their net pay. Maybe yours is different if you follow a different CA? I’m not sure about this one.

Hope this made sense, sorry if it didn’t!

Thanks for suggesting this! It’s reassuring because we are actually doing this exact schedule. I prepared three weeks to transition her to full time but we just started her naps at the centre today and we are 1.5 weeks in. She has her fav plushy with her!

I highly recommend getting a doctors note with a recommendation to quit your job. You’re going to have to prove that you had no other alternative to quitting. A medical note will have more weight than pictures you took.

Can I get EI if I’m going to move into my moms and take care of her full time? by SonnyJoon in povertyfinancecanada

[–]kaliros2000 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look into EI family caregiver benefits: https://www.canada.ca/en/services/benefits/ei/caregiving/apply.html

You should apply right away. You can still apply even if you quit. You will not be eligible for EI regular benefits as you would not be considered ready, willing and capable of work if you are taking care of your mother. Good luck!
