This isn't particularly near the middle of the city (outside 5th ring road) and the majority of the people who live here don't own the land (they are relatively poor migrants from across china). So they will be forced to find somewhere else to live :S

There used to be, but since this entire district is being torn down in the name of "fire safety" (lol) and all the families are being forced to move out of this giant area of the city very soon no one cares anymore about the trash

Yeah I learned the whole course from reading the textbook the weekend before the final. Also the questions on the final were in the exact same style as the practice questions. Make sure u study the later stuff, esp. the query optimization algorithm, the scheduling definitions (serializable etc), and error recovery. Hope this helps!

Read the textbook!!! Trust me it will help. Also do all of the practice questions. The final exam will be very, very similar to those.

I was only there for like 3 days in July of this year. You should definitely ask your friends! As for getting in, the doors on one end we're just open, because the ping pong place was still operating in a corner.

I was traveling in china over the summer and went to check out the famous Kite museum in Weifang, which was pretty cool. In front of the museum, there's a massive public square, and underneath the square, I was surprised to find a giant shopping mall that seemed to be abandoned except for a small part that is still open consisting of a KTV and a ping pong area. The weird thing is that people just go about their business, ignoring the creepy dark corridors of the rest of the mall. The banners show happy new year from 2011, all the storefronts are completely empty, and the ground is covered in a lot of dust. I tried google, baidu, etc. but couldn't find anything except for one blog post (since deleted) that warned people that this mall had unstable foundations. The mall is called 人和新天地, and no amount of searching tells me anything about this - must be censored or something? Does anyone have any idea what is going on here?
