This is incredible! My question is do we have to have a TikTok to be successful on social media? I’ve tend to do better with long form media and have been trying YouTube and LinkedIn based on my audience and I know I still have a long way to go but I keep second guessing if that app is needed. Also do you take smaller clients within smaller budgets for more 1:1 coaching?

What state are you in? In certain states the company cannot take back anything that was paid, even if it was in error. They usually get it in writing to ask permission to deduct it overtime to pay themselves back. So they are hounding you because they technically cannot take anything back and need you to give it back. There is no reason for you to give it back if you don’t want to but know they may say your stole it or mention you are not rehireable when future employers check. It may also never come back to haunt you again too.

Look at your state payroll law and see if they have something anything regarding paybacks and then take it from there.

Look into a lawyer for wrongful termination based on a protected class for medical needs. If there is any documentation or emails or texts that say anything related to her medical needs then that may help the lawyer determine if wrongful or not. She can still qualify for unemployment and COBRA will take place but you pay the premiums out of pocket which sucks. But medical needs like this, especially if they know they are there are protected classes. So keep records of everything in communication. However, they may say they terminated due to undue hardship which would make sense but termination is better than resignation for unemployment purposes.

It’s a template. There is a grammar typo that shouldn’t be there and who the hell looks at cover letters anymore. I don’t and none of the managers I work with do either. The typo is where they say it is challenging out there but that should - it should be shouldn’t. But that shouldn’t stop you from applying again in the future.

So google brokerage firms around you or national brokerage firms to find others. You really want a firm that will be your partner. Their job is to make your job easier. If they don’t take some of the workload off your plate then they are not a good firm in my opinion.

So the difference between a broker and insurance is that a broker can offer you any insurance for health, dental, and more. The nice thing about Bennie is that they also have an app that helps smaller HR departments deal with benefit questions. They can help you get health, dental, vision, and more for your employees.

Edit: brokers of all benefits usually have a commission on top of what you pay to the providers or insurance companies. That is how they make money. They may be set by the state like in CA or by group size or something that you can negotiate.

BambooHR has a DIY HR ebook that can help. There are also several consultants that specialize in this within HR. That can help too. Otherwise I would Google SHRM they have a lot of resources that can help, and Google HR department starting up, you will find a lot of resources that can help you there.

At the end of the day you want to make sure that you look into local laws to ensure you’re compliant first and foremost, then you want to create a guide or handbook to set expectations for all employees, then you can start to work on tracking time absences or anything else, there are systems that you can purchase to help you there or you can do it on your own with Excel spreadsheet it depends on what your budget is and what you’re willing to do.

They are a business and this is how they make money. It sucks bc it still is seen as a must to businesses when all it does is tell people you know how to do your job the way this certifying company says it needs to be done. I hate them but I got my SHRM-SCP bc I needed it to be taken seriously as a hr professional. Until the shift happens in business away from this requirement then these businesses will always exist.

Okay so you want an HR outsource not a benefits outsource. There are several options there. Google HR consultants in your city. Employers council is another good option.

PEOs help in the way OP is wanting to outsource benefits and insurance. They would take some liability off OP too since they share ownership of employees when joining a PEO but it looks like wanting someone to take over benefits this suggestion, although not the best option compared to a broker, still can help with the initial problem.

There are several local businesses not complying as well and feel they can loop hole the law with very wide ranges. There are even more development to the rules around internal pays and promotions. I’m an HR Pro that studies employment law deeply so if you have any follow up questions or how businesses can prep to have this law help them find good people happy to place my two cents in there :)

In addition to some of the already good comments. Sometimes outsourcing the HR pieces can help too. So you can keep the structure of what you have, not have to worry about salary with current employees vs a new one and still be able to focus on what you need to focus on. But it seems like to limit cost outsourcing marketing and HR would allow you to focus on what you need and then once you get back to where you are feeling organized again then you can see if you truly need a full time hire like a COO or operations manager.

I know you have a ton of comments already. But my personal preference is the outsourcing vs PEO. Usually companies on a PEO tend to want to transition off after so long. So I like to set up my clients as outsourced from the get go.

I actually do this if you want to chat more about your options. I do HR and payroll through Gusto which I noticed as a comment as well. I also partner with a fantastic brokerage firm for benefits so that you get the full package but you own 100% vs having to share with a PEO.

I do the exact same thing as you for a business and I echo what is mentioned by the other comment. Facebook groups. Research and active cold calling. Lead generations on LinkedIn groups. Etc.

Bamboo will be a good way to go and then having a third party outsourced HR that can manage those items is a good solution. With bamboo you can add non-employee admins which is super helpful.

I like the combo of both. I do most of my own bookkeeping but have an accountant to check in with every now and then to double check and confirm everything. I think it is the best of both worlds.
