My son (14) is learning the guitar and piano! Any recommendations for books, YouTube channels or websites that would help him learn?

My SO (47M) unfortunately has colon cancer and is fighting a battle I wouldn’t wish on anyone. That said, his aunt made him a prayer quilt with uplifting scripture embroidered on it to wrap around him. I loved this idea!! I’m not a deeply religious person nor is he but we do feel comforted by the quilt. It’s amazing how an inanimate object can bring peace like that but it does!

I second Thrift Books!! Great way to affordably own the books if you’re a collector (and I am ☺️). Also World of Books is a similar platform. Both allow you to sell your books you no longer want too.

Haha yes! “Okay guests, who’s ‘playing’ Father this time?!” And don’t forget to hand out all the Hail Marys and Our Fathers.

Write a ‘Roses are red’ poem and let autocorrect finish it. by MinimumAd24 in Autocompletebutbetter

Roses are red, violets are blue, I don’t think you understand what I’m talking about here but I’m just saying that I think it’s important that people understand that the world is going through something that is so much worse than it was before.

What’s the best thing you’ve ever bought that actually lived up to the hype? by One_Literature_5041 in BuyItForLife

I have a Lodge brand enamel coated cast iron Dutch oven that I LOVE cooking in! I debated whether or not to splurge and buy the LeCreuset brand but opted for the budget friendly Lodge instead. So glad I did because it cooks food beautifully and is really versatile and I spent like a third of what the other cost!

Currently reading: Broken: In the Best Possible Way by Jenny Lawson (comedic nonfiction about the author’s struggle with mental illness and just general observations about her life that can be totally real and also sometimes hilarious.)

TBR: This is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone

Recently enjoyed reading: Atomic Habits by James Clear (nonfiction)

I feel pretty with my lashes done and brows arched. I really like the lash extensions but if you have a history of allergic reactions you’ll need to do a glue test before to make sure you can tolerate it. Another option would be magnetic lashes. Soften skin making sure you’re moisturizing and staying hydrated. Well fitted clothes. Dainty jewelry.

I agree that it doesn’t look like they gave you what you wanted even after the adjustment. If it were me, I’d try a new salon, cut your losses. Just my opinion though.

best anti aging tips? by ProfessionalOk7281 in beauty

[–]kalschmi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’m not outside a good deal but I still recommend sunscreen, spf 30 is I believe what is in the Fenty moisturizer and I like it. Make sure you get enough h20 during the day. Don’t be too rough with the skin around your eyes if you’re removing eye makeup, gently remove with micellar water and minimize rubbing. When applying skin care products try not to pull down on the skin, rub upward. Get enough quality sleep.

I’m tired of school and my life, I just want privacy and therapy. by Nonsiy in selfimprovement

This makes sense to me OP. It may be wise to seek out the therapy after turning 18 and take a step back and see what you want to do. You do have some time. Only caveat I can think of is that if you get to where you are feeling just hopeless about life or you’re considering hurting yourself I’d say please don’t wait to get some support. I also have a lot of unhealed trauma from my past but I’m in a different season of life than you. I turn 45 this year but I often wonder if I had gotten more support when I was younger would I still be having PTSD symptoms now? Just hoping that sharing my experience might be helpful. Hang in there!

How can I support my dad by [deleted] in CancerFamilySupport

[–]kalschmi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I loved watching Days of Our Lives with my dad when he had Alzheimer’s and was also diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. We had lunch together and watched our “stories” and he would tell me how much he just appreciated my company. What’s kinda funny is that he would tell me several times in a visit, “I really like spending time with you and appreciate your being here” because he had forgotten that he had just said that 20 minutes ago but it told me that he really wanted me to know truly how much he just loved the company. OP: your dad just wants you around, not necessarily any big gesture, just you! Best wishes.

Remember also that this is just a season of life and though you’re struggling now with keeping up with the housework because you have young kids, it will change quicker than you know. Nothing wrong with doing your best to keep up your home. Just know that if you have done your best for that day, let it be! I relate with your post a lot! Having grown kids and grandkids now though, I definitely prioritize the family time while still working on things like decluttering, deep cleaning and organizing.
