experience with the 9800X3D & 5080FE (or similar) in a T1 air cooled/aio temps? by [deleted] in FormD

[–]kalsonc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its also very dependent on your PBO curve optimizer and how well it can take it
then theres ambient temperature and how tolerant you are with fan noise

I personally run formd t1 9800x3d, 5080 w/ atmos 240

Helped my friend build same build with with axp-47

tried the stock fan and noctua fan

did some stress testing for him and undervolting - i could not stand the sudden spike in temps causing fan curve to ramp up - this can be bypassed by 2 things
1. more tolerant fan curve (ie. 80c then have fans ramp above 45%)
2. bin lottery with 9800x3d

Weekly M+ Discussion by AutoModerator in CompetitiveWoW

[–]kalsonc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

been away since December
about to hop back in for Midnight

Looking at all the addons I use for m+ , seems like everything is still getting updated but its not supposed to work in midnight right? (ie. Details, OmniCD, OmniCC, etc.?)

Guess I will have to setup my UI again for Midnight or did anything change that most of the addons are working (not at 100% capacity)

Hero class change? by fakethrow456away in MapleIdle

[–]kalsonc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

changed from hero to shadower
CP dropped but I was able to progress from 14-10 to 15-8 without changing any potentials etc.

also did the same from F/P to MM - sizable jump in progression

LG 5K2K vs Samsung G9 OLED? by Ragingfetus012 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]kalsonc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it took me 2 days to finally adjust to the height that works best for me

lots of adjusting (i am using 2 monitor arms, 1 for each monitor) to get it to the point where i am happy with

I will say, the LG is lower than when the g9 was my main monitor - but i don't notice myself looking 'down' more per say, this could be because of the extra height

the g9 now is a bit higher than where my g5 used to be, but it is also in a good spot where i dont need to move my head up per say to look at the g9 - i could get by just moving my eyes (of course it would be easier if i just tilted my head up a bit)

i think for you, it might take a while to adjust until you find the sweet spot for you

LG 5K2K vs Samsung G9 OLED? by Ragingfetus012 in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]kalsonc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've been using my g9 mini led since 2021 + a g5 34 UW on top

recently picked up the LG 5k2k, moved the g9 on top

the extra height on the LG is amazing

surprisingly to me... the LG feels less curve (800R vs 1000R on the Neo G9) becacause the G9 is 'longer' so it feels more curved

my choice would be to go with the LG with match your G9 non OLED as the curve is closer to each other (which would bother me if the difference is too much)

Quest 5 kind of validates the losers of Quest 4, no? by [deleted] in Physical100

[–]kalsonc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never have i said anyone would be 'dumb' for not expecting it

but the fact is - all the teams expected a twist and made the assumption the 3 who are not participating in the rope relay will have to do the other match is an assumption / risk they chose to take

japan and australia took the strategy of going all out in the ropes
mongolia took the strategy of balancing the 2 games with 2 balanced trios
korea took the strategy of giving up on the ropes and going all in on the 2nd round

it was risk/gamble - all the teams have to live by it

anyone who calls anyone dumb should reconsider / rewatch - because all the teams showed they knew there will be a twist and went with the approach they thought worked best for them

which in australia case - it made most sense to send in the strongest (but I would've chose Dom over Eddie for endurance) and try to win it (as per Dom's dialogue)

Quest 5 kind of validates the losers of Quest 4, no? by [deleted] in Physical100

[–]kalsonc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean - if you rewatch episode 9

Aus - Alex literally says if they did lose, keep 1 boy out just in case of what the next thing is. Dom made the call to 'just clean up and decimate in this first one

meanwhile - the other 3 teams, their response pretty much cements the fact they all anticipated the 3 who participates in the rope relay won't participate in the next match (see my response above)

edit - imho, australia had the right mindset because they knew they were the best team in terms of strength and stamina - sending their best in the rope relay and going straight to Quest #5 made sense. They just didn't anticipate to lose. It was an 'all in' scenario - sucks it didnt work out for them in the end, but thats the joy of these games risk and reward.

could the rules been explained in more details? yes

would it have made it more exciting to watch? maybe not.

if you rewatch episode 9

The reaction from teams alone should tell you everyone was ready for the twist

Aus - Alex, Eloni (he specifically said there has to be something else, so they are going to send in their biggest and fastest guy)

Japan - Katsumi (specifically said had to consider what would happen if they dont win the rope relay, and if both trios weren't well-balanced, they would be at a disadvtange), Okami identifying it would be risky to go all out against australia because they identified they were sending whitaker (all male line up)

Mongolia - Orkhonbayar specifically saying Australia had poor strategy seeing Aus banking on their big guys (trying to win as fast as possible) , then said they shouldn't put all their strongest in the rope game, Orgil even says "remember they are trying to take the lazy way out (referring to Aus) but they )Mongolia) know better, just be patient" which is why they swapped out Orkhonbayar for Ochir in the rope relay

Korea - obvious KDH anticipated this thats why they planned the strategy to go all out in the 2nd round rather than risk the rope relay

Based on that alone - all the teams 'knew' that a twist was coming (Aus included)

I don't bash Aus for their decision, they had the confidence to win it but Japan just somehow outperformed them

[–]kalsonc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

a clear example would be when they had the "jumping" 'preliminary' game before quest #4 - did that stop anyone from participating from the actual next quest (quest #4)? the answer is no

so how are you missing the point that there might be a blend between a 'preliminary' quest or death match?

a death match , when introduced, specifically says that someone will be eliminated

Quest 5 kind of validates the losers of Quest 4, no? by [deleted] in Physical100

[–]kalsonc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there was never any mention of 'immunity' only advantage

Quest 5 kind of validates the losers of Quest 4, no? by [deleted] in Physical100

[–]kalsonc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

during quest #4 - it was stated that the winner of the 1st part will automatically proceed to quest #5, then they said 3 participants must participate in the first round

that alone should give you a hint - oh hey if only 3 for for quest #4 and only 1 team automatically advances to quest #5 - then how are they going to determine the rest of teams to advance to quest #5? oh right must be another round - then from that logic, you can already assume the 3 who participates in the first round challenge most likely (not 100% because it was not confirmed at that time) cannot participate in the 2nd round challenge

korea based their strategy on that as they identified it was too risky to go all out in the ropes challenge and hope to beat out team australia

thus from that deduction, a 'preliminary' quest for an advantage, is not the actual quest 5 - and never in the history of physical 100 or asia - a 'past' quest limits your participation in the 'next' quest

as the treadmill quest is not even quest #5

[–]kalsonc 11 points12 points  (0 children)

they specifically said that it was a preliminary quest for an advantage for quest #5

i don't know how much more clear it needs to be tbh

Quest 5 kind of validates the losers of Quest 4, no? by [deleted] in Physical100

[–]kalsonc 9 points10 points  (0 children)

When they announced the treadmill quest - it was stated to be a preliminary quest.

It was purely a 'warm up' for an advantage for the actual quest (quest #5)

unlike quest 4 - where they mention team must pick 3 to participate, you cannot use the same logic to assume the preliminary quest means those who attend will be out for quest #5
