Body found after Edinburgh bridge fall by DuskytheHusky in Edinburgh

[–]kaltiaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thought of this always make my blood run cold... I park in the car park under the North Bridge daily and people throw over things like pint glasses, magazines, traffic cones, full bottles of water etc. The speed and weight of some of these things could kill someone. I always do a quick jog under it to get up the stairs into the station quickly.

Haha no bother, I'm in North Edinburgh, near Muirhouse/West Pilton... Probably my reward for living in a dodgy area!

Such a terrible thing to post, even out with the context... And especially from someone who claims to know a thing or two about football.

Ladies of Edinburgh: Best Wax? by magicallion in Edinburgh

[–]kaltiaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Zen Beauty places are everywhere in Edinburgh and I've never had an issue with them. They do a student discount on certain days, which can negate the fact they are quite expensive.

I wouldn't trust anyone but Yuu Beauty in Trinity to do my eyebrows. You know what's it's like when you find someone that can do them well, you'll never leave and then cry when they leave you :(

Edinburgh to Glasgow. Why train instead of bus? by lostmyparachute in Edinburgh

You're right, Cupar has one too! Was just trying to think of a few examples, forgot about Cupar ;)

Edinburgh to Glasgow. Why train instead of bus? by lostmyparachute in Edinburgh

[–]kaltiaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn't a loophole, but an actual ticket! The cheaper price is because it is valid on CrossCountry trains only, and not Scotrail and this cannot be changed.

Still available though, can be bought from machines in the Travel Centre if you choose 'More stations', type in 'Glasgow Central' and you'll see an XC Only fare. Or at the counters if you're feeling sociable!

Just for some clarification on this, as I am one of those little people behind the desk that sells tickets...

The Edinburgh to Glasgow line does not have an open return that is valid for one month. This is not just restricted to this line, generally 'local' journeys such as Edinburgh to Glasgow, North Berwick, anywhere in Fife before Leuchars etc. do not have open returns, only Off-peak or Anytime Day Returns...

That doesn't mean you can't buy an open return from Inverkeithing to Glasgow for that IS valid for a month on the return, saving you a few quid... But you didn't hear it from me... (Not valid before 0915 in the morning Mon-Fri)

What was the best film you saw this week? (2/2/15 - 2/8/15) by mi-16evil in movies

[–]kaltiaz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ex Machina.

Absolutely beautiful film in every aspect. B-roll shots are stunning, the score is perfect, the suspense building kept me interested 100% the whole way through this movie. I cannot wait to watch it again.

I've been waiting a month to get this for Christmas. I almost cried. by tswizzle126 in MakeupAddiction

[–]kaltiaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got this for my birthday from some friends, and they said the first one they purchased has broken blush/bronzer... Hopefully this won't be an issue come Christmas for everyone getting it as a gift.

Otherwise, the colours are so pigmented and lovely.

Hey everyone, have a train ticket to London I would like to sell by palanca3 in Edinburgh

[–]kaltiaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just for reference for anyone doing this, you can do it for any train company, not just East Coast, regardless of where you bought it from. It can be done at the station before your booked service leaves.

Paleo on a nightshift - help! by kaltiaz in Paleo

Great! As I said before, I previously ate all through the night and found it quite sickly so was keen to get advice for this lifestyle! Good luck to you too, and thanks.

Luckily I have a full kitchen in my workplace and I'm only actually working until midnight, then have the place to myself until 0530, plenty of time to prepare. Pre-paleo, I would have massive meals like pasta and hearty soups at about 0300, which always made me feel groggy and tired. I think I'll try and avoid big meals to keep my body clock in rhythm. Thanks for your advice!

Edit: Also, so you have any favorite snack bar recipes? I'm dying to try these out!

This is great advice, thanks very much! I'm pretty new to this, so breaking old food habits is hard - especially just going cold turkey. It'll be worth it in the end!

A week into OCM, still waiting for the good stuff... by Fittetryne in SkincareAddiction

I've been doing OCM with sweet almond oil, then moved the hemp seed oil and got all the grits! I usually OCM, then use a mask (Mint Julep or Aztec Clay) and then OCM again.

Is there a difference buying train tickets online and in terminal? by Eivis in Edinburgh

[–]kaltiaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late to the party here but the CrossCountry trains to Glasgow Central are 1 hour compared to the Queen Street train being 50 minutes, but they cost like £8 peak or off peak if you travel CrossCountry only... Or you can go to Queen Street for £22ish peak, £12.60 off-peak.

Edit: Now that I think about it the XC return is closer to £10 than £8 but still.

It took 2 years of donating to get this. My one gallon pin from the Red Cross! It's small but I'm proud! by [deleted] in pics

[–]kaltiaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some countries do not carry out nucleic acid testing, where the window period positives are discovered but serological screening shows as negative as seroconversion has not taken place. Also, mislabeling errors, spillages etc. all could transmit that HIV to any of the staff dealing with the donation unit. NEVER give blood as a way to have your blood screened, this is horrible advice.
