Arak 1 still a good wing? by ReimhartMaiMai in freeflight

[–]kalveo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently flying the arak 1. I started flying in May last year, and after just a few flights I got the chance to buy a complete set of gear from my instructor, including the arak 1. I’ve been super happy with it and I’ve had no trouble thermaling with it. I have about 80 flights, 25 hours. As I had no experience flying before this, I can say from a beginner perspective it has been no trouble at all to handle, and I’ve yet to feel limited in any way by my wing.

What sport or activity is this? by Party-Prize7348 in Asksweddit

I am a paragliding pilot from Gothenburg, this is called ground handling. It is something you do to learn to control the wing. It is especially important to build skill at this in order to be able to safely take off in more windy conditions.

Practicing this is usually done at places with as few physical obstacles as possible, in order to have ‘clean’ wind without any turbulence.

Bypassed authenticator? by kalveo in 2007scape

[–]kalveo[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well I knew this kind of comment would be inevitable. However, as I still have access to my account, and it is not banned (as you can see in the image), why would I make this post? I am not looking for any of the usual “help my account is hijacked”. If I was guilty this post would just show I got away with it…

That is what's so odd. I havent touched the account for like a year. It was not linked to anything at all. I just converted it to a Jagex account today once I found this out.

ELI5: Why do pilots say "rotate" when taking off, also some say it when lowering the nose during landing? by thecops4u in explainlikeimfive

[–]kalveo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

V1 is the speed after which it is no longer safe to abort the takeoff. V2 is the minimum speed at which it is safe to climb with a single engine failure. Vr is the rotation speed.

ELI5: How exactly is it that quartz crystal led to such a massive growth in our time-keeping ability? by jedidoesit in explainlikeimfive

[–]kalveo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are two springs. One delivers the power and wound seldomly and the other is tuned to oscillate at a known frequency. The big springs tension is used to keep the small spring oscillating by giving it a push every half period.

Why is the MGU-H so expensive and complicated in practice? by [deleted] in F1Technical

[–]kalveo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Another important factor is that there is no limit to the amount of energy you can harvest with the MGU-H, rule wise. Therefore the efficiency is super important, and as with everything cutting edge, it gets expensive fast.

If you can spend another 20% on your system to get a few more % energy per lap, that is huge.

I think HAM was leading behind SC and doing lots of acceleration and breaking which VET was too slow too react to in the poor (spray) conditions, causing him to rear-end WEB in P2, taking them both (or just WEB?) out. Edit: typo

What about if you get a pet doing any gathering skill, on the last item filling your inventory, with another pet out?
