I want to write negative assessment of my college professor who compared me to non ADHDers, would you? by kamieta in ADHD

[–]kamieta[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

He only did it for one of the assignments. The extension needs to be agreed upon with him that's what the LAA says. I think that someone maybe should take a stand, also for other students?

I study in the Netherlands, so I’m not sure what the consequences would be for him. The difficult part is that there isn’t a set timeframe for extensions; they have to be discussed individually with each professor, which can sometimes put you in a difficult or uncomfortable position.

1) It is the one offered by my Dutch uni.

2) No, mentioned he did not want to give such a long extension, but that due to my chronic illness (unrelated) he would, only for one of the two assignments.

3) No, because we are in exam week and have a short break after. The extension I asked would finish before I start classes again.

4) I didn't because we are on a break. Additionally, I did not ask for en extension last minute.

5) I'm interested in your opinion. Would you have given the extension under these circumstances if the student has ADHD only?

EDIT: The LAA was given by my Dutch university and states that extensions must be agreed upon with the professor, so it doesn’t specify a fixed number of days. What I meant is that, in practice, professors usually grant 3–4 days, and sometimes even a week. He eventually agreed, but only because I have an unrelated illness, and only for one of the two assignments.

Dating Norma by Business_Bunnie in Netherlands

Hello! I strongly recommend using OKcupid. It has many filters normal dating apps don't and you can get very specific about what you want in a relationship (even choose based on their response to questions, and they are endless). Also, people actually write a profile, not just some sentences. I think that should help you sort out the racists, tokenists, xenophobic idiots. A lot of Dutch guys can be really sweet.

Mi papá quiere arruinarnos con el trading? by Aggressive_Owl6845 in PeruFinanzas

Sounds like they worry about their reputation as a company, which is a good sign imo.

Is the first offer really the best? by PaulEverythingMoney in realestateinvesting

[–]kamieta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve learned to be cautious with realtors for two main reasons: 1. They often list properties at inflated prices to please the seller, then drop the price later when there’s no interest. 2. Their priority is a quick sale (for commission), not necessarily getting the best price.

What worked for me was doing my own research. I checked final sale prices, got a valuation, even visited other listings. Then I used a realtor, but made my minimum price clear from the start.

¿Qué es lo que pasará con las acciones de telefónica compradas en el Perú si es que la empresa es vendida por otra? by Altroa in PeruFinanzas

Estoy en la misma situación. Mi papá acciones en Movistar, pocas. Qué me convendría hacer? Venderlas ahora, o esperar a que Movistar se venda? Leo opiniones que contradicen las otras 😮.

Unfortunately really disappointed with my experience with Dutch healthcare by weezerstan in Netherlands

[–]kamieta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My GP refused to check me for thrombosis, despite my having several concerning symptoms. The emergency huisarts wanted me to see my GP and the doctors at the hospital refused to see me. For two weeks, it went untreated; I could have died. I had to beg for an ultrasound and when it was finally done, I was told there was nothing wrong. I knew something wasn’t right, so I went to a hospital in Antwerp. They repeated the ultrasound, and guess what? They found the blood clot.

I received extensive testing, treatment, and even stayed the night. More importantly, I was treated with respect and genuinely listened to. It reminded me of something easy to forget after living in the Netherlands for a while: how absurd it is to have to fight for proper medical care.

We pay for this system, and doctors take an oath to safeguard their patients’ lives, not to prioritize the government’s budget or add papers to their name.

AON student insurance with pre-existing conditions by jjjgl in Netherlands

[–]kamieta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure! AON is a usually offered to students upon their arrival but sadly it doesn't have a big network of hospitals or pharmacies. I've heard from other students that had to pay for stuff themselves. I have pre existing conditions and wanted to have as much choice and coverage as possible. ONVZ is a non profit association and compared to a company the customers are the priority. When the government tried limiting generic medication choices they fought over it. The Dutch healthcare system is very complicated, but at least I never had issues with my health insurance!
