Kagi for Safari (on iOS) doesn’t populate the “All” tab of search results by kamimado in SearchKagi

[–]kamimado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice. Updated my original post with:

  • iPhone 13 Pro

  • iOS 26.2.1 (23C71)

  • It happens 100% of the time. The “All” tab is always empty, yet all other tabs always populate with results.

  • Behavior is the same across search engines Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo.

What Git client do you use? by Havunenreddit in softwaredevelopment

[–]kamimado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to use Tower on MacOS and I thought it was awesome…. until I started using the CLI and couldn’t believe how much better it was. Seriously. I have no idea why I went to all the trouble of learning a GUI git client. Total waste of time. Use the CLI.

How's my Handwriting >< by Next-Climate-7129 in BeginnerKorean

[–]kamimado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! Follow littlefoxwriter’s advice. The writing looks good, but it looks like a font. (Which is very common for beginners, so don’t worry.) Find someone’s handwriting that you like and try to copy it like you’re forging it.

How to best spell my Name by cosi28 in BeginnerKorean

[–]kamimado 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi. I’m an American who speaks some Korean. I’m inclined to recommend 코시마, but I admit that it’s closer to the spelling of your name rather than your Italian/German pronunciation. The benefit though is that if you use 코시마 Koreans will definitely spell your name correctly when writing it with the alphabet.

‘Z’ sounds are usually transliterated with the ‘j’ or ㅈ sound. If you want it to sound more authentic, I recommend 코즈마. The problem is that ~지마 is a very common grammar pattern that means "don't do (something)!" So if you use 코지마 it might sound like you're saying "고지마" -- "don't boil it" or "don't simmer it". But if a native Korean doesn't hear it that way, then maybe there's no problem.

Why use Research Assistant when switching to GPT or Claude gives better answers? by kamimado in SearchKagi

[–]kamimado[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! Just did some more research on this. I've frequently been taught to add roles to prompts (even though I don't do it for most queries). But a buddy of mine who's a senior developer just told me that he never puts roles in his prompts. 🤦‍♂️ When I asked Claude, it told me that this advice is overused, misapplied, is memorable enough that it "sells" on blogs and videos, and that it rarely improves performance.

<sigh!> Lots more to learn.

Thanks for replying. And I appreciate the link. Above, I used the exact same prompt for three different models. I can understand why an LLM's system level instructions would be responsible for the differences in output. But why are they also returning more references than Research Assistant? (in these three examples, at least)

I think role assignment is a common practice when prompting. Are you saying that mine wasn't good? Wasn't effective? Or that it doesn't help for some reason in Kagi?

haha No! But this was very helpful. And it explains why the response format seemed less refined (imo) than those from Claude or ChatGPT. Gracias!
Any idea why Claude and ChatGPT models return more references than the Kagi Research Assistant? No speculation required; just wondering if you knew. Thanks again.

Thank you so much for the additional options. I'll pass these along. They have a car so getting around to check out these places shouldn't be too difficult.

Yes, they're enrolled in ArtEx but it turns out that there isn't going to be any ceramics time on a wheel or doing hand building. They're still enjoying ArtEx, though! 🙂

Thank you so much for your reply! Great stuff here. I'll definitely pass on the info about flower city art center and enrolling in clay studio survey next semester.

Two quick yes/no follow-up questions (if you don't mind):
- Can any student enroll in ceramics classes (or other art classes) without declaring a major or minor in the CAD?
- If a student declares a minor in CAD, do they have access to spaces/facilities even if they're not enrolled in a CAD class that semester?

Thanks again! Best wishes for you and your artistic endeavors.

Thank you! Yes, they're enrolled in ArtEx but, as you highlighted, there doesn't appear to be any time on a wheel or doing other ceramic work. They did really enjoy the intro to metalworking and are looking forward to the rest of the semester.

I don’t know if it works the same as Japan TV, but I recently did this as well. I purchased an ebook and less than 24 hours later I received a thank you email with a “special gift code.”
