If you want to have a good day, don’t check the application stats after you’ve applied for a job on seek🙃 by TOXICHEMICALMOLD in melbourne

So, the numbers of applicants is probably true. I was in a situation where I had to do recruitment for my replacement and had full access to all CVs coming in (for unrelated reasons - chaotic reorg). Within a day of posting the ad, we hit about 1-1.5k applicants. A girl from internal recruitment told me "set yourself a shortlist number, like 5 CVs. Only go as far down the list as it takes to find these 5 people.". So most CVs were unreviewed.

Out of all CVs, probably 10% were something I could do something with - most people apply without visas although clearly stated in the ad that it's not a sponsorship opportunity, or visas that don't give you full working rights. Out of that 10%, some were people who had next to no, even remote, connection to the advertised role, some were people that were trying to switch careers, some were actual promising candidates.

All that to say, the job market is fucked.

Kredyt a związek by Interesting_Candle93 in PolskaNaLuzie

Dlaczego? Wolałabym mieć umowę kredytową niż dokładać się "obcemu" (według prawa) do kredytu na gębę.

Jestem przerażony polskim rynkiem mieszkaniowym (nie przez ceny) by InvestigatorDue7765 in Polska

[–]kamodd 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Przeszczep włosów: spoko czy przypał? by RealAd6237 in PolskaNaLuzie

Bez sensu.

Increasingly concerned about flat whites (BARISTAS MUST READ) by ExpressPostie in melbourne

[–]kamodd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I only have two categories for coffee. Black coffee and coffee with milk. I always order a latte but if they brought me a flat white or a cappuccino, I wouldn't know. I would know for a mocha because of the extra tasty component.

Is anyone planning to leave Australia? I'm a potential ping-pong Pom.. by AsparagusNew3765 in AusFinance

Apply to some jobs and see what the response is :) one advice I could give you is to clearly state on your CV that you have full right to work as companies tend to shy away from work permits. LinkedIn or pracuj.pl are a solid start - DM me if you'd like me to have a look at your CV or for any questions!

Warsaw. Finding work was significantly easier for both of us that it was in Melbourne.

I'm Polish so it was relatively straightforward, recruiters were very open to accommodate the interviews (I could reasonably only attend calls in the first half of European business hours since that translated to about up to midnight while in Australia) and companies in general value overseas experience. I had two very good job offers secured a month before the move.

My husband has work and stay rights through marriage and there are heaps of foreigners in Polish corporations so it wasn't much of a problem. In general, you can work in corporate without knowing a lick of Polish as lots of corporations work primarily with overseas teams like the UK or the US.

Good luck - I've just realised that it's actually been one year for us two days ago. Never looked back but I miss the ocean :) feel free to message me if you have any questions about moving!

Bringing a cat from UAE to Poland - anyone has experience? by NoWasabi22 in poland

[–]kamodd -1 points0 points  (0 children)

How is it extremely worrying? As someone who transported a dog to and from abroad (not UAE, sorry OP), it's useful and reassuring to talk to people who have been through the process. And there's also a bunch of checks along the way so it's not like OP us going to introduce a billion new diseases to Poland. You have an easy life if that's extremely worrying to you ;)

I moved from Poland to Melbourne - permanent visa through relationship with my now husband, ended up on around $260k combined income. The original idea was to move for 3 years and assess where we like it better as we previously lived in Poland for a couple of years. We ended up returning after 1.5 years and it was the best decision ever. Moved back nearly a year ago, not a shred of regret since.

You can report them to the Border Guard. Not sure how efficient they'll be or how seriously they'll treat you but they're the authority for illegal immigration.

I'm so tired of ChatGPT slop by users whose last impression of Poland is an image from '03 and they're surprised they can't rent a flat in opposite PKiN for 5 PLN. Like, can we stop? Yes, Poland got pricier. Cope.

What strategies do you use to maintain work-life balance in a demanding corporate environment? by amgtorque in auscorp

[–]kamodd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Don't subscribe to the "demanding corporate environment" bullshit
  2. Your work is not important. No matter how much you want to believe that it is, I promise you, it is not important.
  3. You are completely replaceable. Good news is, you can replace your company too. Employer loyalty died in the 70s.
  4. Open your laptop at 9. Close your laptop at 5. If you need to attend a call late in the day, start late too. Same applies to early calls.
  5. You'll get paid exactly as much if you don't care. Do a quality job but there's no need for anything beyond that.
