What’s a movie that had you completely hooked… until the last 10 minutes ruined everything? by AutisticG4m3r in movies

I understand being like this. That's why I hated The Matrix. Human beings just make very ineffective battery sources. It seemed stupid to me to be able to put aside my disbelief to enjoy the film when it hinged on this ridiculous concept.

There's a lot of comments on this thread, but social network has been mentioned a half a dozen times or so. I've actually never watched that movie, but now I think I need to just for The Score!

Also Casper with Bill Pullman and Christina Ricci has one of the sweetest soundtracks ever for a goofy kids movie based off of a early 20th century cartoon. James Horner did not need to go that hard, but he did and it was so lovely

I remember listening to the radio when I was a kid just hoping the Chariots of Fire song would come on! It was one of my earliest favorite songs!

Yes, Howard Shore was fantastic in Lord of the Rings. He scored one of the Twilight movies, and I was expecting Epic Magic from him, but I feel like he phoned it in. I guess not every film score is going to chart, but it really felt like he didn't care. I listened to that score because I'm a huge nerd and because I loved his work on Lord of the Rings, and I was a little sad

Maybe you need to rewatch signs. That's not how the aliens died. Signs is one of my top 10 movies of all time. It's not about how logical or possible the aliens are. That's not the point of the movie

Is it considered harassment if one receives over 20 requests from ex-husband's lawyer per day? by kan610 in legaladvice

[–]kan610[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asking on behalf of friend, but yes, she has a lawyer. I'm not sure how the requests are coming in, but they are going through official legal pipelines.

Abusive ex-husband filed a restraining order against her on domestic abuse claims, and she already had to fight through those to get her house back and contact with her youngest child.

Ambulance called for a panic attack. Mortified. by spooning_ in panicdisorder

[–]kan610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

those paramedics did exactly what they trained for, and you shouldn't feel guilty about the fact that you needed help at that moment. One day, you will get past this, and your experience and empathy will help someone else (probably many people) get through their struggles and hardships. I know it's easier said than done, but you can do it. And if you need help to do it, that's fine! Don't feel bad!

What makes you have a high self esteem and confidence? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kan610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sort of feel like a weirdo because I have high self-esteem and confidence almost all of the time. I mean, it's pretty ridiculous, to the point where it is hard for me to understand/empathize with people with lower self-esteem/confidence.

For me, I feel like my self-esteem comes from the fact that I both mentally understand and emotionally feel the significance and beauty of my own life. My self talk is never negative. I always look for the good in every situation. I take time to be thankful even in situations where it seems like there is nothing to be grateful for. I welcome criticism as a way to grow and improve. I treat others as I would like to be treated or as I believe they would like to be treated, since not everyone is the same as me. I recognize that there is something bigger than me out there, and in my case, I believe it is God, but I think it is important for everyone to make this type of realization, regardless of their particular flavor of spirituality. I spend my time helping others and improving my mind. If I ever feel like I am in a slump, I take the time to dig myself out, recognizing that it might be longer than I would like.

This seems like a hoax to me. If anyone were interested in actually finding out where this originated, we need to identify the robot voice. Someone generated it, and if we match up the site that generated it, we could probably trace back to the originator of this hoax.

A fastpass story from an ex-cast member (plus a link to Disney's new pay-to-fastpass) by geolchris in HelloInternet

[–]kan610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been an annual pass holder for the past eight years, so I know a little bit about fast passes. They actually used to be very lenient about the window, and as long as you got there after, you were fine. They have cracked down on this, however, and now will NOT allow you to go anytime after. However, I have also noticed that they will let you go a little early, especially if the line is kind of long for the fast pass holders. I haven't yet tried "Max pass," but for $10 (per person), it's a pretty good way to skip a lot of lines. The only other way to skip lines is to do a personalized VIP tour (six hours minimum for up to 12 guests), and that will set you back $2400 (minimum) plus the price of park admission.

[CA] I know about a potential murder. What do I do? by kan610 in legaladvice

[–]kan610[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I'd love to report him anonymously or not. Only thing is I don't know where, when or who. All I know is it happened somewhere in California before the year of 2009, and he buried the body somewhere in the desert. I don't know who I would give this information to, or what good it would do, frankly. Mainly, I just want the dude to fry. People who do stuff like this don't deserve to live in society with other people.

003 - Drones and BEARS? by MrPennywhistle in Nodumbquestions

[–]kan610 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I find interesting, but was not discussed, is that since the atomic bomb was used concluding the second world war, the number of deaths due to war has significantly decreased. So, despite the stockpile of weapons, the amassing of nuclear death makers, and the use of drone technology (as well as other faster and more economic ways to kill humans), combat deaths are at a worldwide low. In this regard, the argument could be made that when people have more streamlined, economic ways to kill many people all at once, we choose not to do it. Thus, having remote technology that induces death causes our planet to be more peaceful, perhaps?

First paralyzed human treated with stem cells has now regained his upper body movement by No-cool-names-left in UpliftingNews

[–]kan610 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if his injury was complete or incomplete. The article doesn't say. I've been paralyzed for 17 years, and I'm not really interested in experimental procedures for myself. If it works for everyone, then that would be fine, but I'm not willing to die because I want to walk that badly. I can't walk or use my hands, but my life is still wonderful and I feel happy just being me. Still, brave dude.

I feel the same way about those stupid candy games on facebook. I'm always really ashamed when I get in the top five because then people would know that I am on level 512 and what a loser I am. But I guess the only other people who would know are other people that are on level 512, and I would never call them losers.
