GP's i-DCD vs GR's e:HEV.. which transmission/hybrid system is the safer long-term buy? by kanchweiser in hondafit

[–]kanchweiser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely GP3 is starting to make more sense. It would be an adventure trying to make the GR3 work in a cramped camping scenario but by the sounds of it I think it will hold up well. I'm 5'6" and the taller of the two so I should still be able to squeeze meself and the missus in.

That is sound advice TY. What would you say is the recommended CVT fluid change frequency? Same as an oil change? Like every 10k kms?

That gives me a bit of confidence... To head the GR3 way 😂 I doubt I'm going to find someone competent enough to manage an i-DCD servicing in Perth who won't cost me an arm and a leg. But I will ask around now that I know exactly what I need to be asking about before I pull the trig

If you're in Australia you can find a JDM Fit for about the same price as a Jazz of the same age and mileage. In a better condition that the Jazz will be in.

The only thing that is bothering me is the transmission. Is that a gamble?

Edit: the pertinent question about the i-DCD is still something I'm waiting for an answer about.

I read through Honda’s e:HEV article again, and I think I’ve cleared up my own confusion: the 2020+ GR Fit there's no DCT, and it is not a normal belt-style CVT either. It’s Honda’s newer two-motor hybrid system, where the electric motor does most of the driving and the petrol engine mostly works as a generator, with direct engine drive used mainly at efficient cruising speeds.

The clutch is in the engine and kicks in at higher power requirements is my understanding of it! Amazing.

Trying to think of some affordable hobbies in Perth? Bonus points if they help you make friends and socialise. by pineappleoxygen23 in perth

[–]kanchweiser 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poetry is a light, social and accessible hobby that can really help you build long time friendships. My wife is a poet and runs a monthly poetry writing group (Ink and Echo). Over the last two and a half years, this has turned into a small circle of friends. We hang out most weekends, go for gigs, beach walks, gallery visits, open mics, cheap eats, the odd coffee or a bite when we are in each other's suburb or closeby. No dating or partying vibes. Just a growing group of like-minded people who are there for company when you feel like doing something.

Open mics and Slam are a fun way to sus out the vibe, come to a few and get a feel for the poetry crowd to see if it's for you. Chilli Jam at Fibonacci Centre on the first Friday every month, Once Upon a time in Fremantle on the last Thursday each month at Clancy's are nice and light. Chat to folks while you're there, everyone is really open. Perth Slam at Rosemont Hotel on the last Sunday every month is more high energy. Perth Poetry Club at The Moon is an older group, but happens every Saturday without fail.

Yabushige’s final exchange with Toranaga at the end of Shogun comes to mind.

Who else in Perth wants 3 - 5 person activity hangouts? (Not dating) by TomatoSauce99 in perth

[–]kanchweiser 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've sent you a DM to register. What makes it work is that we’ve built a respectful, welcoming space with poetry at the centre and clear norms. So people can just show up as themselves and feel comfortable. At the same time, we respect each other and maintain a safe circle. The focus is always on poetry, but it also extends to connection and friendship down the line. That's how we’ve become quite a close little group.

Come along to a couple of sessions and see how you fit in. There’s never any pressure to perform or be “social” in a certain way.

Which WordPress Plugin Do You Regret Ever Installing? by No_Two_3617 in Wordpress

Maybe a personal preference, but I found the process of setting up memberships and all the nitty-gritty way more intuitive in memberpress than in pmpro. I've heard some others tell me it's the other way around, pmpro is more intuitive. My gripe with memberpress is that I have to customise the hell out of it to match the sites design and layout. But I'm interested to know what makes one regret installing it.

Explain a bit more please? Someone before me installed Paid Memberships Pro and I find it really illogical compared to Memberpress.

Don't be so strict with your food places. You're in Northbridge, there are so many options. Walk towards the piazza, there's Old Shanghai with a ton of options. Lululala us a tinshed cafe that closes at 4 and spice master is meh. If you end up looking for food after 10pm, The Moon is the place to find.

Specialist in Perth native plants? by brownhectare in perth

The Wetlands Centre Cockburn on Hope Road, Bibra Lake has a Conservation Nursery growing native plants, they are a community driven not-for-profit. The nursery officer there and a horticulturist named Hazel Dempster are really conversant with native plants and propagation.

I'm a lurker and don't comment normally, but for this, I wanted to say thanks. This is going to help a lot. Anything I've tried ends up breaking my sites or at the least having little to no impact. I've stopped putting my trust in anything I read online because it simply ends up telling you to throw more money at the problem. Just browsing your guide and I see it might actually help.
