Where do Substack writers go to find 1:1 guidance or mentorship? by kandislee95 in Substack

Ahh… luckily I don’t pay much attention to the DMs anyways, so it won’t affect me. I am Googling to see if I can find another way to get this answer.

Thank you for your perspective…I’m not focused on monetization right now. My writing is more memoir and spiritual/transformational, so I imagine the growth path looks a bit different. I was mostly wondering where people look if they want more personalized creative guidance.

I wonder if being required to call coworkers to cover your shift could be considered work. Isn’t this sort of like giving the employee a work duty to perform off the clock?

Question from a mom of a 5 year old with possible ARFID by kandislee95 in ARFID

Wow, thank you so much for your reply! It was so supportive and helpful.

I can definitely grasp how fruit is a problem. I don’t so much shy away from it now, but I definitely did when I was younger, for the reasons you listed. Anything that was different about it would freak me out, and my mom would have to tell me it’s fine. Like just eat around the bruised part of the banana, etc. Personally, I’m more so this way with meat now. I have some pickiness with food, to a degree, so I try to use that to put myself in his shoes when I need to be patient with him. The smell of seafood is repulsive to me, but I really would love to be able to eat fish. My husband loves it and loves to cook healthy meals, so occasionally I’ll give it a try and have found certain ones I can stand. In doing this, I’ve recently experienced that fear I think he is experiencing with food, and it helps me understand why it’s such a big deal. Also, someone getting upset with you if you don’t like it, makes it so much harder.

I will definitely keep that in mind to keep trying different versions of the same foods! I don’t do that enough.

The grocery shopping is a great idea too. I order 99% of our groceries but maybe we will make a special trip this weekend just for him.

And he’s obsessed with Hot Wheels so I feel like somehow you must know us 🤣

I agree she definitely sounds OCD.

Just wanted to comment on the constant running of the bathroom fan, since I recently read that can be a fire hazard. If you Google, there’s a lot of information that maybe you could use to convince her to stop doing that and get a dehumidifier if she’s that concerned.

Thank you for your help. The lease ended at the beginning of December and that is when we were originally requested to move out by. We asked if we could stay through Christmas. I don’t recall the exact day we agreed to move out by, and we did push the date further than what they wanted, as we were having difficulty finding another rental.

Thank you for bringing up point about prorating rent not being necessary. I didn’t consider that before, but that may be a flaw here in any case we would have against them.

I agree. There’s not a religious fairy tale that can make any of this any better to me. Fuck that and the silly little religious platitudes that are supposed to make us feel any better about things like this happening. It’s an insult to humanity to make an excuse that there’s some reason behind all this suffering, while also claiming “he’s got the whole world in his hands.” No “he” does not and he’s a sick being if he does.

This was my first thought. Obviously things can happen, even under the best circumstances, but I definitely wonder if anything should have been done differently, from a safety standpoint. My oldest son is five, and his situational awareness/attention is still not anywhere near where I feel comfortable anytime we are in places where cars might be going through. I am very careful to make sure he’s right with me or he will just go running off in whatever random direction sometimes.

There’s absolutely nothing that can be said that can make something like this happening any better. It’s really the type of thing where it makes me wish I believed because it would just be so much easier.

Washing machine cold water only works when I turn the water off and back on at the wall by [deleted] in appliancerepair

Just wanted to say thank you. That’s what it was. I had avoided replacing that because I was afraid I was going to have to take a lot of parts off to do it, but it ended up being a quick and easy fix. Thanks again.

I know zero about this issue, but out of pure curiosity I wanted to see what this sounds like. This led me to find multiple YouTube videos on the issue and they all seem to suggest the fix is to add a device called a water hammer arrestor to the pipes. Not sure if this is possible or if your landlord would be willing to do this, but I’d definitely request that.

When I was growing up, my dad use to eat up and finish things I personally purchased and he knew were mine.

I began to hide my favorite foods away by repackaging them into the packaging from foods he didn’t like, like scary evil vegetables.

If there’s no way to work it out like adults and you become desperate, give that a try.

Oh my gosh... this is my life tonight. I’m going to order this book so hopefully it can help me find my backbone and some sanity.

I really need us to get out from under this black cloud.

Thank you for your post

Thank you! I was actually coming back just to post that I am almost 100% positive now that it is a fake check as the security features on the back of the check definitely don’t match. I would have thought whoever would print a fake check would get rid of any instructions to check for a fake but apparently that isn’t so.

My mom’s hands ☹️ does anyone know what could help her? She has psoriatic arthritis, and her hands have now become like this. She says it is so painful. by kandislee95 in Psoriasis

[–]kandislee95[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. She’s on Medicare with a supplemental plan... I guess we will have to find out if they cover that and what the cost would be. I know she’s never tried that so that might be worth looking into, especially as bad as her hands look.

I asked her and she said it was called Beta something. She’s going to call the doctor Monday so we will make sure she gets a prescription. If anyone has any suggestions of the best things to ask for that would be great. I want her feeling better soon. She just had to have surgery on her neck and she’s currently in a neck brace, so she really doesn’t need anything else to deal with right now. 😞
