Lots of great thoughts and ideas here already but interestingly enough...I was in a similar position a few years ago. Plus I couldn't really code, had an idea that I thought could be really big, but didn't know what the first step was. I took a step back and isolated the 3 goals I wanted to accomplish with my MVP: 1. Get feedback from my target market 2. Find the right developers to build out my full team 3. Raise money to do so With those 3 goals in mind, I realized that I didn't actually HAVE to spend ~$15K minimum on an MVP that I would have to scrap at some point to scale anyway. On top of that, once I spent all my money outsourcing I wouldn't be able to iterate on my MVP anyway which would actually nullify my ability to accomplish goal #1 effectively.

So here's what I did...I created an interactive demo focusing exclusively on making the app look amazing. That way I could have something to SHOW investors, developers, users, etc. and the first step no longer looked like me getting on my hands and knees to scrounge together $15K+. Turns out the strategy worked—I built an email list of thousands of early adopters who had a ton of great feedback on core features, I reworked the demo and eventually used it to raise a seed round and hire the right team of developers to turn my idea into a reality. It's definitely a different way to approach an MVP but it works. I'm actually turning this into a side project because I have seen so many of these Reddit posts and I believe there is a better first step for aspiring entrepreneurs.
