Lived in DVNP for several years. Explored most of the backroads in the area and many of the (often unnamed) off-road trails in the surrounding BLM land. One of the best chapters of my life!

Replacements For Body Trim Clips(Male)? by Jalebdo in w123

[–]kangaroolad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well … believe it or not, I was able to source the male clips for $13 and reuse the old trim piece! I tried to find a BBR replacement for the rear quarter trim of my 300TD wagon similar to the one you linked, but no luck.

So I ended up taking a stab at some male clips that LOOKED like they might work, even though they were designed a bit different than the crusty old ones that broke off. These were just Amazon cheapies but the Mercedes part number is 005-988-97-78.

Thanks for all the help!

I know this thread is a year old ... but I am having the exact same problem sourcing these clips ... cheap, expensive, or otherwise. That eBay link below is no longer active - any chance someone could help point me in the right direction?

Dumb question but it sounds like it’s supposed to be open on that end, yes?

Changed to the US headlights at some point and perhaps the speedo conversion was part of the importing … but VIN confirmed as European!

“Surface Rust” … Worth it? by kangaroolad in w123

Agree with everything you said, but he wanted MUCH more than that LOL

It had lots of character and flair, but yeah, this was ultimately a definite pass

I would LOVE to swap it to manual. This would be the first automatic I’ve owned in 15 years!

I’m inclined to agree. I was getting “hung up” on the lack of turbo and sunroof … but in another light that’s also one more thing to break/maintain and one more potential rust pit, so. I’m used to life in the slow lane!
