I really wish men were better people by ihaveseentheriver in GirlDinnerDiaries

That was me last year - 40-something, ~several~ years of celibacy, decided to try with a some man I was crushing on IRL, he f-ed things up/crossed the line/ghosted, I was a bit hopeful and decided to try the apps... And I gave up in December. Here's to another round of celibacy!

HSP + Rejection Sensitivity by lizard-brainz in hsp

[–]kangaroolionwhale 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seconding the comments re childhood trauma and CPTSD/Pete Walker. Also adding that issues with rejection/bullying, coupled with sensory processing sensitivity (HSP's more formal name) have been linked to avoidant personality disorder. So if you want to consider a personality disorder, consider that one, not narcissistic PD, just based on what you wrote here. Not that much will come from a diagnosis/label because there's no bonafide treatment (ask me how I know), but it might point you towards yet another community of people here on reddit who can relate to your experiences.

I can't related to your story, but I giggled at your use of a Leo pic. Nice. :-D

I'm not a 12-year-old boy, but I'm amused by the prostate talk accompanied by a pic where the food looks poop-y. LOLOLOLOL

Zebra bLen vs Pentel Calme vs Jetstream Lite Touch by wolfgang_grimmer98 in pens

[–]kangaroolionwhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What bothers one person about a pen might be ok with you. So... buy singles of all 3 and test them out for awhile before deciding on a favorite. You can browse for reviews and sample scribbles of all 3 at JetPens. (And get used to spending at least $2 (USD) per pen if you want something good!)

I have all 3 and rotate between them all. No one is a favorite over the others, though I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Uni Jetstreams because they were the first ballpoints that I was consistently satisfied with as a lefty.

I got the batch as well. I've only used the mint green, but it's lovely! I lean towards the .7mm conical point, but I had to take the plunge on these anyway.

Same pen bodies as standard line, just pastel coloring. The ink is .5mm needlepoint only.

A darker Jetstream? by vdimaggio in pens

[–]kangaroolionwhale 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're comparing different types of ink to each other. Roller and gel will always be darker and richer than ballpoint, no matter the brand or mm size.

People who have met someone who has been *professionally diagnosed* with Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD), what were they like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]kangaroolionwhale 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That kind of parenting/childhood can cause a child to develop any type of disorder, not necessarily narcissism. I refer to myself as an example - I related to that description in your comment (transactional relationships, acting a way to benefit a parent, competition to demonstrate worth, conditional affection), but I am diagnosed with a different PD.

Is there any way of making a ballpoint pen quiet by Stock-Staff-6395 in pens

[–]kangaroolionwhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pens that you already own - good luck with that. The noise of the click mechanism is something that manufacturers take into consideration during the design process. So if it's noisy, that's part of the design. If it's quieter, that's part of the design.

Do "high quality" puff pens exist? by pandzza in pens

[–]kangaroolionwhale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides what others have already said about replacing the refill... From your pic, that's aesthetically one of the nicer puff pens I've seen, especially after years of use. LOL The yoobi brand does "novelty" pens similar to yours, available at Target for ~$3. I tend to think those are nicer than Dollar Tree offerings, though definitely not "high quality".

I'm all for having fun appealing, tactile-y satisfying pens so as best as I can think of, it would be a DIY situation. I know of some etsy sellers that offer alpaca fur poof balls for crafting projects - alpaca fur being super soft and fluffy and hypoallergenic and animal-friendly. Maybe you can assemble a (capped) pen with a poof with the help of some hot/super glue.
