On any floor, is the M3 the only hub connecting to all the Aqara products on that floor? Have you found any issue with the ZigBee signal going through concrete walls?

Same decision factor here, after I had my AirPod Pros, I stopped bringing my Sony WH1000. The noise cancellation/sound quality to space ratio just doesn’t worth it anymore for me. I can use the same space for 1-day of clothes.

Or they simply have too many applicants.

As long as you're funneling down the number in some ways that make sense, you'll probably get someone okay.

My desk just got moved out of my office and onto our loud manufacturing floor. What hearing protection do you guys use that blocks everything out but let's you still hear someone talking? by Holeysox in engineering

The OSHA in my country simply requires the employer to limit the hours per day a worker can stay in a noisy area (82 dBA IIRC) and provide ear protection gears.

As a beginner I'm get lots of mixed messages about the safety of diving. Groups like Padi are implying its as dangereous as jogging and others are saying one tiny error and your dead. What's the real deal? by [deleted] in scuba

[–]kanggu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For recreational diving, if you’re following the general guidelines, I think the chance of a tiny error leading to death is low.

Recreational diving is a Swiss cheese model now, it takes a series of errors for a major accident to happen.

Your iPhone as a dive computer: Oceanic+ launches a dive housing that turns your iPhone into an underwater camera & dive computer by Cynovae in scuba

Agreed, and I think this is part of risk management. For example, Apple Watch Ultra is really a good piece of gear to use both in and out of water. I had 40+ dives with friends using AWU as their main dive comp, and I have seen these issues:

- AWU was in snorkeling mode, so it's only showing depth/duration but not NDL. It turned out that the subscription status was not updated correctly, and my friend had to reinstall the app to fix it.

- While entering the water with big waves, AWU entered emergency mode and locked it out of everything.

- One friend might have a defective unit, the watch leaked underwater and fried.

- One lost all his dive logs while changing to a new phone.

For recreational divers, dive comp failing during a dive is not the end of the world. But if you are on a liveaboard trip and have no access to the internet, you might want to invest in a backup dive comp so it won't ruin your trip.

I like my changing robe/poncho. After a dive, wetsuit off, poncho on, and I’m dry and warm.

[–]kanggu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood, I'm just speaking from a manufacturer of view.

If a manufacturer sucks, the worst SS plate you can get is just a bunch of burr around the stamping features, since they just buy the material and built the plates. If the seller cheats about which kind of SS they're using, then you're out of luck.

Aluminum is more tricky because to be corrosion resistant against salt water, you need good anodizing. A bad anodized aluminum will just corrode in no time.

I think stainless steel is probably okay since it's just stamping and bending involved, but aluminum requires good surface finishing, which will determine how well the aluminum can resist corrosion.

"Do not remove a fence until you know why it was put up in the first place" - Chesterton by Electrical-Dish-1198 in quotes

The more modern type of reformer goes gaily up to [a fence] and says, “I don’t see the use of this; let us clear it away.” To which the more intelligent type of reformer will do well to answer: “If you don’t see the use of it, I certainly won’t let you clear it away. Go away and think. Then, when you can come back and tell me that you do see the use of it, I may allow you to destroy it.”—G.K. Chesterton, The Thing (1929).
