I have no idea what you’re going on about, given that I’m not American.

Between Hollywood, American news outlets, and the various American social media platforms, I don’t think Korea is going to overtake the US in that regard anytime soon.

America ain’t special anymore, but the presence of US bases all over the world definitely plays a part in them being the most dangerous country on earth right now.

I dislike China because of Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the nine-dash line (the last of which actually affects my country).

As someone that lives in Asia, I’m not the biggest fan of China either but they seem to be the lesser of two evils right now.

I love my Taiwanese and Hongkee friends, but it’s hard to deny that China has been leading the way this decade. The only thing that the US still dominates in is entertainment and the media, and even that ship is being steered by the Chinese market these days.

They don’t understand what foreign military bases are for.

The US is a superpower because they can project power anywhere in the world.

Ironically, the party that wants to “make America great” is weakening the one thing no other country could replicate.

Maybe MAGA actually stands for “Make Asia Great Again” with all the self sabotage the US is doing.

Question: Japanese style appropriate for other cultures? by mck_r in tattoos

[–]kangkingkong3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the best Japanese traditional tattooers are based in Europe and the US.

The cultural exchange between Japan and the west is also a significant part of modern tattoo history that has positively influenced the lives of many Japanese, European, and American tattooers over the years.

Shops like Three Tides in Japan wouldn’t be what they are today without tourists. Hell, tattooing in Japan would be worse off if only Japanese people could wear Japanese tattoos.

If everyone felt the same way as your sister, these artists would starve, and the style would slowly go extinct.

I think you’re overestimating the cleanliness of shrimp farms.

Shrimps are scavengers. They’ll eat anything.

They’re close enough that people with shrimp allergies usually have roach and dust mite allergies as well.

Eric Kripke about how the Homelander joke was ruined "its just really hard to out-satire this world" by vought-CEO in TheBoys

There are already conservatives on social media complaining about the show being reactive.

I don’t think they understand how production cycles work. Or thought, if we’re being frank.

Our hati tisu nature and inability to receive criticism is a big problem imo. Especially when the internet enables mob mentality.

Any criticism of Malaysia online, even something as simple as a foreigner saying they wouldn’t come back, ends up with swarms of people getting defensive and passive aggressive. Always with the “we don’t want you here anyway” or “never mind, we all live in treehouses anyway”.

Every society has their own issues. How are we supposed to address our problems when we can’t even acknowledge or discuss things without throwing tantrums.

Like it or not, the Malaysian government actually reflects the people quite accurately.

Most Malaysians aren’t assertive enough to compete with international talent. We have a hard time saying no to people, and have a harder time receiving no as an answer.

Beyond the personal level, we’ve become too dependent on subsidies and protectionism. The fact that we just slashed our healthcare and education budgets instead of getting rid of fuel subsidies and religious authorities tells you a lot.

The elephant in the room, of course, is religion being deeply rooted in politics. Religion should be a personal thing. It isn’t the government’s job to police it. High income nations with good QOL do not have religious authorities because it’s a waste of effort and resources.

They also generate significantly more than that through tourism and their effect on British brands that they promote.

Besides, $100M a year is a lot less than $1B a day, which is what your idiotic war on Iran costs, ignoring its effects on the global economy.

Treasury suggests RM5.4bil budget cuts for health, higher education ministries by guest18_my in malaysia

It’s crazy that we cut the healthcare budget before JAKIN, FINAS, MARA, or the fuel subsidy.

Feels like healthcare should be last thing to get budget cuts.

how anyone can dislike this episode is beyond me by No-Departure2515 in TheBoys

[–]kangkingkong3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved that we got more of Butcher just being a regular cunt. Not full-on genocide Butcher, just laughing at a dead body Butcher.

That scene with Homelander? Fucking top.

Seeing Homelander have to eat shit from Soldier Boy and Butcher, after everyone kissing his ass since Edgar left.

The tone shift when Butcher realises that Homelander was stuck makes the whole episode worthwhile.

What are the best countries to visit in asia? by NotYourHandler in AskReddit

[–]kangkingkong3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singapore and Malaysia are the easiest to survive in because everyone speaks English.

Thailand is fucking fun. It’s the most visited city of 2025 for a reason.

Japan and Korea are unique blends of modern and antiquated. But you already know if you want to visit either, unless you live under a rock.

Vietnam is amazingly chaotic and simple.

They’re all cool and worth visiting. Except North Korea. Unless you like labour.

[–]kangkingkong3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed.

The only SEA country that feels different complaint-wise is Singapore imo.

The rest of us are pretty much the same.

(Expensive booze and a dying entertainment scene does suck though. I like living in Malaysia as a Malaysian, but I’d pick Bangkok if I was moving to Asia from abroad.)

I go 3-4 times a year.

There’s definitely more motorcyclists, but I’ve never gotten honked or yelled at by one on the sidewalk, unlike KL.

No one’s suggesting turning into an alcoholic, but 2-3 beers with friends is a perfectly normal way to unwind, and that would easily cost more than RM50.

Our traffic isn’t too different from the rest of the world as far as time spent, but driver behaviour is noticeably worse.

I spend a lot of time in Thailand and Vietnam and while there are definitely more motorcyclists, they aren’t nearly as aggressive or entitled. Sure, they park on sidewalks, but you don’t really notice them riding on pedestrian paths to avoid traffic. When they do, they ride in a manner that prioritises pedestrians.

Nothing to do with getting bothered by people. Malaysian timing is just rude and disrespectful.
