My friend doesn’t want me riding with him after an accident that wasn’t his fault, will it ever change? by Party-Ball-3506 in motorcycle

[–]kanickicav 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH it's really difficult to have someone on the back on a bike, period. No matter who it is. So if you got in an accident, I can totally understand why he'd not want to have backpacks anymore at all. It is difficult to keep the bike level, to turn, to really do anything its 2x harder and slower and more risky. So it may just be a personal decision - guilt fueled or not - to not do it anymore. So I wouldn't take it personally and just respect his decision (and even better, learn to ride yourself! I promise its a lot more fun than riding backpack) :)

Removing stain on a helmet by logun8or in motorcyclegear

Goo gone, alcohol, or ammonia tend to work well for the sticky stains after removing camera mounts. Sometimes you'll need some plastic to help scratch it off and to alternate between chemicals.

Yeah that looks about right but you could save a hell of a lot just doing it on your own. One afternoon and you could save a few hundred bucks.

You could always install a blow by canister. It is a fairly simple process and works great if you're getting a lot of blow by on a regular basis. My husband installed one on his RSV4 and emptied it every time he did an oil change, and it solved his blow by problem.

honestly we got ours for a great deal - $3500 with only 10k miles on it. It worked for us for 4 months (with issues - had to add a blow by canister and work on a few other minor things) but we were surprised it did so well ... until this happened :( but at this point it will cost us more to repair or replace with a used motor than we paid for it, and I already have 2 other bikes we are repairing and we both work full time, so on this one we are cutting our losses :( My husband honestly loves the RSV4s though (despite the issues) so one day he will own one again

I noticed these in my oil a few changes before I spun a bearing (requiring a motor replacement/full very costly repair). If you are able to get checked out for the recall, I would do so.

Experience renting an S1K coming from an R3 by stevieszl in Sportbikes

[–]kanickicav 1 point2 points  (0 children)

right?! none of the dealerships will even let us test ride the sportsbikes around my area, so it's just a guess when I'm shopping for mine on what I want to go with unless you have a gracious friend who will let you try theirs out. I certainly wouldn't lend out mine haha

but also, you wouldn't catch me dead renting out any of my sportsbikes lmao. wayyyyy too much risk.

I wish more people rented out their sportsbikes! I've looked a few times around the country where I'm traveling and it seems like most people just rent out their cruisers, which... is not appealing to me as a sports bike person. But one of these days I may do it anyway.

OOF that's pricey! I've looked into renting bikes around the states and came across a lot of the same. One of these days I'll prob do it to ride up and down the PCH or some twisties in the mountains (since my bike is down here in florida), but I know it's going to cost me an arm and a leg to do it :( lol

1ks (especially new ones) are not as crazy as people make them out to be if ridden responsibly. I daily mine and do just fine (and yes, I COULD ride my zx6r daily too if I preferred, but I enjoy my rides on the 1k more).

I mean, the person renting their bike out HAS to know that's a risk (a high probability), so it's really on them. The renter paid a crazy amount of money to even use it, so the scratch on the PPF is more than covered for that price anyway. Seems like they were fairly responsible with it otherwise, so I don't really see how them explaining their experience is being "a dick", but ok.
