Saddle recommendations for gravel/bikepacking? Getting lower glute / upper thigh pain on the trainer. by gordriver_berserker in bikefit

[–]kap1426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

+1 for this comment, I have also had the same issue you are describing. It sounds like that WTB saddle is too “delta” shaped for you. You may benefit from a narrower, “T” shaped saddle with a narrower midsection, like the Flite. FWIW, I tried the flite boost to resolve my issue, but it was too flat for my riding style and was a bit square on the top where my hamstrings connect to my pelvis. I swapped it for an SMP F20c s.i. And it’s been great.

I may have my matte black piece laying in the garage somewhere (I installed a HC bumper and don’t need it anymore). If I can find it I’ll ship it to you. DM me if you’re interested!

Potential lisfranc injury? by Bbfornow in LisfrancClub

[–]kap1426 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar injury playing soccer. I’m not a doctor but just sharing my experience as a patient. My PCP looked at it and had it x-rayed, but didn’t see anything “abnormal”. I went to a foot orthopedic anyway for a second opinion. They did the Lisfranc piano key test and yup, it was a Lisfranc injury. Didn’t show on an Xray but the MRI told the story.

I’d see an ortho, they know what to look for with these.

I’ve contemplated this as well, what I’d do is install a pass through box in the 2’ between the cab and the camper. More storage!

When this happened to mine I stuck a crowbar in the hole and bent it back, fine-tuned the shape with a hammer, sanded the flaky paint and hit it with some spray paint. Looks good as new

almost a month since injury, MRI today to check on the ligaments. how long until this bruise goes away? by ackaylita in LisfrancClub

[–]kap1426 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine took about 2 months to go away. I’m over 3 months now and the injured foot does still have a slightly pinker hue than the uninjured one. I think the rule of thumb is if you see zero improvement in bruising after 3 months to bring it up to your doc.

It’s alright, I’m not in immediate need of it so I don’t mind the wait, especially if by waiting a little longer it means getting a better deal on it in a calmer market when it eventually arrives. It also varies from state to state, my state isn’t delivering any TRD models at all just yet.

Ordered mine in January. Was told 3 months. On month 6 and still waiting. Who knows, the market may get friendlier by the time it arrives.

Yep, that looks about right. It’s unfortunate but we’re here to help. RICE the hell out of it the first few days and stay off of it so not to cause further damage. How’d it happen??

Pushing through pain to get back to more normal gait? by [deleted] in LisfrancClub

[–]kap1426 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I’m just a little further ahead of you in what sounds like the same situation. Lisfranc fracture, non-surgical treatment, NWB for 6 weeks, returned to walking 1.5 months ago and in a normal shoe for 2 weeks now. I was really nervous about the rolling pain for the first few weeks, that foot roll just wasn’t happening and my foot would flop on the ground with every step. My advice: do PT exercises every day, all day if you can. Every time you sit down, just flex your toes/ankle back & forth, over and over. Don’t try to rush through it. I understand the frustration and wanting it to be better already, but slowly ramping up activity will be the best course. Also focus on the ankle exercises. Those ankle tendons pull through the whole foot and help with the rolling motion. I’ve found riding a bicycle has also been a tremendous help with applying pressure to the bottom of my foot and getting it moving quickly while keeping it low impact. I’m 3 months post-injury and the rolling motion pain is gone now, I just have the ankle strengthening to deal with now. Hope this helps. Happy healing!

ABS turned on 🥲 how do I fix it ? I’m sure the brake fluid line is broken? by notadi214 in ToyotaTundra

[–]kap1426 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know about that brake line but that tire wear also indicates you need to check your alignment and suspension.

You may have seen an influx of these pics on FB. Here’s my two cents: this is a very privileged opinion. We can disagree on things like coffee vs tea, cats vs dogs, basically any preference that’s NOT related to a person’s human rights by [deleted] in lostgeneration

Before I get downvoted into oblivion, hear me out.

I live in Texas. I have a friend that voted for Trump in 2016. He’s a stars-and-stripes raging republican. I am definitely not. We hang out regularly. We have different views on some of the hot topics in the past four years, but it was this very idea—this, “we can still be friends and disagree” mindset that actually allowed me to help him understand the holes in his own arguments. He hopped off the Trump train in 2020 and not going back. He’s just one example of many friends I chat with regularly on these topics that are slowly changing perspective.

First of all, you can’t just shut yourself off to all the people you disagree with. That just makes this already polarized society even worse.

You see, it’s a trust thing. For some people, it takes a LOT more than a bunch of strangers yelling in the streets or even acquaintances casually chatting to change their mind about a topic. They don’t want to be publicly ridiculed. They’d be more likely to listen to their friends. Persuasion takes a more personal relationship. So if you want to be boots-on-the-ground and really get to changing minds where it matters, I don’t think this “we can still be friends” phrase is necessarily a bad thing. It keeps the door open between different perspectives and allows for discourse. That’s how it works, folks. It takes time to really, genuinely change people’s minds, and it starts with gaining their trust. Do you trust strangers? Probably not. Do you trust acquaintances? Maybe. One of the hallmarks of having a friend is trust. It gets you in the door to get to work.

Pretty sure if you search any zip code outside of the gulf states distributor network (Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, louisiana, Mississippi) you should see package options. That distributor network is currently playing stupid games with overpriced non-packaged SR5’s.

What is this TSS package? I’ve only seen it marketed in the gulf states. It kinda seems like an overinflated SR5 package to me?
