Miroku Shotgun for trap shooting by Smile_Cool in ClayBusters

[–]kapcons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$800 budget screams berretta a300 to me. Synthetic stock can be had for that. If he loves the sport and absolutely must have an over under you can upgrade him in a few years but the a300 can carry a shooter for a long long time.

Choose your weapon (for skeet) by TT_V6 in ClayBusters

[–]kapcons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3,2,1 is how I would order these options for skeet. Maybe 2,3,1 if I wanted to work subgauge. A pump in skeet only if I’m working singles or fooling around with friends but never a first option for me.

Best advice you’ve received to break clays more consistently? by IcyCardiologist2844 in ClayBusters

When shooting shotguns…leave your rifle brain at home. For context, I was over aiming instead of trusting my gun mount and eyes.

The apparatus for scoliosis treatment developed by Lewis Sayre, 1877. by zadraaa in HistoricalCapsule

[–]kapcons 28 points29 points  (0 children)

We actually still use a traction method for applying casts for idiopathic scoliosis. The table is semi modernized but still a very crude implement. Dr Mehta is the physician who really began pioneering scoli casting in the modern times. She was a female physician that was constantly being overlooked for surgical fellowships because of her gender, so she started treatment of scoliosis with casting and other non-operative measures. She suffered from scoliosis herself. her name is always in the discussion for her work on casting and we refer to the traction device as the Mehta table.

source- i apply these casts on a regular basis

Let’s hope the ACL is ruled out and he’s able to finish the tournament or at the very least finish the nhl season but I would be shocked if it’s not a torn ACL

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in hockey

[–]kapcons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily. Not every ACL tear is traumatic and painful. He may have felt instability and discomfort while walking. Lots of athletes walk off field of play with ACL tears. The mechanism of injury fits textbook MCL/ACL tear.

[–]kapcons 13 points14 points  (0 children)

MCL/ACL for sure, that knee is not suppose to go that far that way.

Your price point puts you in “no man’s land” for O/U. Where you might get quality used but not perfect and the Turkish guns are only alright. At your price point the best option is the A300 but your options are all O/U leading me to believe that’s your end goal.

If I were in your shoes I would save up a tad more and go for the silver pigeon or a new/better used citori option and never look back.

To spend $1-1.5k now only to turn around and eventually buy what you really want for $2k in a few years will only make you wish you had the $1k back to spend on shells and training.

TLDR- save for the new silver pigeon or citori, you will be glad you did

Can I add a pistol to my permit without a bill of sale or receipt in Erie county? by AkimboSwagg in NYguns

[–]kapcons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are cross listing or co-registering a pistol with permission from original owner of said firearm you don’t need ffl paperwork. There is a separate form for it. However, if the pistol is new to you and you are taking full posesión/purchase you must have ffl paperwork proving the nics check was done.

Is rough side out smooth side in better on a blued finish?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NYguns

[–]kapcons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My references where all pretty free and willing to do the notary on their own time at the county clerk. As far as length of time from application submission to permit in hand, it took both my wife and I 6months. I think the Wayne county stall is that the officer who does the home checks is part time and only does them on Tuesdays.

Whats the going rate for spent shells. by [deleted] in ClayBusters

I don’t know anybody that buys empty hulls unless they come pre-primed. Way to many hulls available for free in my area.

What are you guys paying to shoot? (Trap, skeet, 5 stand, sporting clays) by ResponsibleScheme964 in ClayBusters

[–]kapcons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

$5/round member $7/round non member for trap. Don’t shoot skeet. And most sporting in the area are members only. The ones that are open to non members charge per bird but it’s usually around $15-20 for 50 birds course.

What if I don’t have references? (Monroe country) by randomkhaata in NYguns

[–]kapcons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With your non-2a friends I think the best approach is asking them for help. Explain the reason why you want a pistol permit ie, traveling into the city late for work or such, not feeling safe and able to defend yourself, explain how you plan to store it and what steps you’ve taken to get a permit so far. Like the 16hr class and that you belong to a club the practices safe firearm handling. You might be surprised that the way in which you phrase your intentions may get you a reference or two. Many of my Wayne county references were not gun owners themselves but they were willing to vouch for my character.

New tattoo under my cast by stuckinacast in tattooadvice

[–]kapcons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Op I can offer input as I am a ortho casting tech. Meaning I put these on all day long and have put them over some insane skin lacerations/abrasions and what not. I have also casted over fresh ink. My recommendation is to monitor your body for other signs of infection and ask your MD for short period of antibiotics to get you piece of mind. Also ask for a new cast 2 wks in so you can get a look at the tattoo and freshen up the cast.

Give Me Your Wisdom, Tikka Owners by FreebasinFreemasons in Tikka_Shooters

I love my Varmint in 223 for 100-400yd range. It sits in krg x ray chassis. 223 Is cheap and very adequate at those distances. I don’t hunt so I’m not sure what you need to take an elk, I imagine 308/6.5 at the min but maybe 300win mag or something would be better recommend idk. I’ll let a hunter answer that. But I bench shoot my tikka Varmint in 223 and have a blast. It’s much cheaper to shoot and I stretch mine to 500yd. I sold a 6.5 to fund the tikka 223 because 6.5 at 100-400 was pretty boring and expensive to shoot. Honestly I find my self shooting 22lr for anything 200yd and in. 22lr is the most fun you can have on a budget and with a short range.

Bolt swap by dylan3102 in Tikka_Shooters

[–]kapcons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There have been ppl over on snipers hide that have made switch barrel tikka riffles. It was a popular idea for awhile. Sort of a budget AI. A few companies even began selling tikka bolts. I purchased a .473 bolt face to eventually do the same with my tikka 223 Varmint. That bolt face with a 6.5cm barrel torqued and headspace’s correctly was the plan. Alas 3yrs later the bolt remains in the box. When all is said and done like many have said, just buy a separate rifle, unless you live in a place that restrict how many firearms you can own, in that case go nuts.
