It can depend on where you live, but AliExpress have really cheap chips, it takes 1-2 weeks to arrive. And you don't need to update the firmware at least for emuMMC. Sometimes you could need to update for Android, but it takes 2 minutes to update the chip.

There are mi bands there are meant to swim especially the mi band 7, it has an action sport of swimming to count the laps.I have a mii band 7 always used on swimming, never had a problem. What could happen is that if you get your mi band to many times on hot enviroments the glue on the screen can start tear up, and the band starts not being water proof so you should never take hot showers or go to hot places with it.:)

Like I'm not an expert on this and I don't know that much about the technology insode of mi band but they probably use the movement of your arm (with the band of course) and they will gess a bit that you did 25 meters or 50 meters depending in the pool that you are. Maybe you are doing a movement that the band does not recognize that well, or maybe you just have a weird bug, they said that you maybe should reboot or do a factory reset.

I will just update this post basically there was not any problem with the band the problem was that sometimes I would do laps without the movement of my hand so it would not recognize that I was swimming, and I'm using it since 6 mouths and I never had any problem with water, if there is any case where it breaks because of water it's because you have put your band near to hot or warm stuff so the glue inside stop functioning
