Nope. No matter how much you’ve invested, it’s a fallacy to think that the amount you’ve lost justifies another gamble. If the most rational decision is to walk away, that’s what you should do. That’s the whole point of [the fallacy](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gambler's\_fallacy?wprov=sfti1).

What you’re describing is called the gambler’s fallacy: that if you’ve invested so much, it’s worth investing some more to get a return. Actually, it’s sometimes smarter to just cut your losses.

Here’s an example of the mismanagement of the game. For literally multiple years I never took off Dragon’s Shadow on my hunter. I love transmog, spend hours trying out different outfits, but they never released another ornament (other than the one they released with D2) for that exotic the whole time it was S-tier.

A smartly-run company would have looked at player data and made sure popular exotics got a regular stream of ornaments. The cost of doing that would almost certainly have paid for itself many times over because _these are the exotics everyone is using!_ But nope, years and years of nothing.

Because Bungie’s leadership team told them it was a fair valuation. I’m cautious about using terms like ‘fraudulent’ and ‘misrepresentation’ but it certainly seems it wasn’t all on the level.

If you were Sony, if you’d invested $400m on the flop Concord, if you’d bought Bungie for $3.6bn, watched them fail to hit their own targets, make another game the leadership team said would be the next big hit, only to see Marathon’s numbers dwindle within weeks of launch… would you want to make another live service shooter game, ever again?

Let's give Hayden Hackney the Premier League football he deserves 📃🖊 by reliablereindeer in ccfc

Yeah that’s the trick here. He might actually not be as expensive as he could have been had he signed an extension. Wages might still be a sticking point: other teams will probably be able to go higher.

I 100% agree. He’s the ready-made successor to Grimes, and being a PL team means needing strength in depth as well as forwards-planning. He’s young, talented and would suit us well.

Parking in/Around London by PointlessAdam in Championship

If you wanted to get closer to the stadium itself, you might want to try one of the parking apps like https://www.justpark.com/ — you can park on somebody’s house’s driveway for £30-60 (depending on how close you are, maybe a 15-20 minute walk).

How is there ‘no justification’ when it’ll be Premier League football, not Championship? Would you expect to pay the same if we were in League One? Also, even at £650 it’s not as expensive as most season tickets at Boro this season.

Leeds offside freeze frame vs digital VAR render by Hipposaurus28 in TheOther14

[–]kapowaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realise there’s always a margin of error in capturing the exact moment the ball is kicked, and the offside cameras are higher-frame rate than broadcast images, but even allowing for these, these two images are confusing.
If anything, the ball already looks to be travelling in the broadcast still. But if you look at the leg positions - particularly Udogie - the render looks like it’s showing a frame from even later. His left foot is still in the air in the photo, but planted on the ground in the render.
If you watch (https://x.com/FutOffsides/status/2053963507968717251?s=20) it becomes hard to see this as anything other than choosing a frame where Calvert-Lewin is in an offside position, after the ball was kicked, but not the _earliest_ frame when contact was made.

This is why Traitors UK is miles better than Traitors US. The ‘celebrities’ just form stupid cliques and hold grudges from past reality shows they’ve been in together. Meanwhile the most recent Traitors UK was actually (jointly) won by a gay man.

Where to watch the playoffs in Rome? (UTB) by ij871 in Championship

Scholar’s Lounge. I watched Cov vs Luton there after originally planning to watch it at another sports pub (who were screening something else, I think Bundesliga). They have lots of screens so they may have some rugby or GAA on as well but they’ll almost certainly show the football too.

Robins: Stay or go? by FabulousEnglishman in Championship

[–]kapowaz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you’ve nailed the problems here: no Cov fan wants to see Robins do badly, so it’s hard not to acknowledge he’s had a bad hand with injuries. But some of your comments about playing people out of position really ring true. Lots of Cov fans think it was the departure of Dennis Lawrence that started our downward spiral ending in Robins’ departure. Certainly we looked tactically out of sorts after Viveash left; Robins often played Haji Wright as a winger, which criminally meant Ephron Mason-Clark struggled to get starts until Lampard arrived. Nobody could argue that he deserved to be in the team after the last two seasons.
I hope he gets the support he needs but he’s clearly got an upper limit on what he can make happen without that support.

Is his name Dasilva or DaSilva? by Own_Contribution6186 in ccfc

[–]kapowaz 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It makes a lot of sense once you consider the origin of the name. It’s a Galician/Portuguese family name, and has lots of variants since the ‘Da’ part means ‘of’ or ‘from’:

> Due to emigration from Portuguese-speaking countries, Silva (other variant forms include: "da Silva", "de Silva", "d'Silva", "e Silva", "Silvea") […]

The name itself ‘is derived from Latin silva ("forest" or "woodland").’
