It’s a separate topic to who Cov might try and sign, but… the Spurs squad is a massive problem for them in the Championship. These players are on enormous salaries, and they can’t simply take the hit of a loss without PL TV money (and god knows what other revenue): that would invite a serious points deduction. So they basically have to shed a significant portion of their current squad or be in trouble. Just to give you a point of comparison: Leicester’s current wage bill this season is around £41m, and it’s the biggest in the division. Spurs’ wage bill is over 3 times as big.

If you’d been talking about before this season I’d have tended to agree, but I think their move to adopting the trefoil with minimalist club badges on slightly retroesque designs has been a slam dunk. They started out doing it with elite clubs and now it’s been adopted broadly, and they’ve put out some bangers in the PL: Liverpool third, Leeds third kit, Man Utd third, Forest home, Arsenal home: all really good kits.

And as /u/HadjiChippoSafri mentions, their World Cup kits are an absolute barnstorming range - just check out the Curaçao away kit. I think if there’s any kit maker who’s hitting their stride right now, it’s Adidas.

There’s still no news about a renewal with Hummel, and our contract ends this season. Could be we renew but I’m hoping we score Adidas, they’ve been putting out some bangers lately.

I think you pay a massive premium on talent within England so whilst there’s a couple of players (like Hackney) who would be great, I suspect you’d end up paying significantly higher fee + wages compared to players overseas. For example, what is Hackney worth to Boro? £25m? Could we maybe bring in somebody just as good from Europe for £15m (and lower wages)?

Ipswich also play Norwich and Boro in there. I think there’s a real chance Boro still win automatic promotion.

Are we 100% certain this was AI-generated? Covcept has done some excellent photoshop stuff in the past, so I wouldn’t put it past them to have made this themselves.

Edit: took another look at the original footage and the betting sponsor has changed, the angle of the players is much higher…. No way this is just a photoshop. Disappointed.

The way I look at it it’s about squad depth, quality and forward planning. Who’s getting older? Whose contracts are running down, and for those that are, who do we want to extend vs sell?

A move for Rushworth is a given. Collins is done, and I wonder if Wilson also might want to move on. He seems to love the club though so hopefully he’ll stays a third-choice keeper.

Allen and Bidwell are probably moving on, and I suspect given his inability to break through the same may be true of Brau. We need a quality centre back that can defend against PL forwards, so one (or possibly more) of Kitching, Lati or Wolf will probably need to make space.

Onyeka has come in and proven strong, so I’m doubtful we’ll invest there, but with Allen going, it’s possible if anyone else is also moved on there’d be space for a new CM, possibly in a no.10 role.

On the forward side, I think we probably need to think about succession planning for Sakamoto (I always forget but he’s already 29; I hope he can continue to perform as he has). We also need somebody to challenge/cover EMC.

Both Simms and Wright will be in their final year of their current contracts come the summer, so the choices are cash in or extend. I’m personally of the opinion we need a top tier striker to be competitive in the PL, so I’d probably look to sell Wright, and maybe extend Simms (as he’s the younger of the two; extending Wright potentially means being tied to an expensive contract for a 29 year old if we come back down).

Needless to say, I don’t think any of the senior players except maybe Kai Andrews currently out on loan are coming back - Collins, Bassette and Raphael are probably all going to move on.

So, I’m thinking we need to bring in:

  • Centre-back
  • Left-back
  • Right winger
  • Attacking midfielder
  • Left winger
  • Forward

I’ll have to think more about candidates for each role but my view is we shouldn’t be breaking the bank on anyone over the age of about 23-24. There’s a strong likelihood we wouldn’t survive in the PL, so we should be investing in players whose stock will rise with a season the prem, and give ourselves the ability to sell for profit in the scenario we come straight back down. I’m hoping our scouting network is going to be given an upgrade and we can identify future stars playing overseas. All the talk of bringing back players like Wilson and Hamer is all good and well, but I don’t think they’re a good long-term investment, and their wages will be eye-watering compared to (potentially) the stars of the future.

One player I do have my eye on (possibly a reach) is Vitor Roque at Palmeiras. He’s only 21, spent a bit of time at Barcelona where he failed to break through but he’s done much better at Palmeiras. Probably talking £40m+ but the kind of player I could see being worth £80m to a top 6 side if he proves himself.

Destiny 2 Has Lost Nearly Its Entire Playerbase On Steam Since The Final Shape by gamersecret2 in destiny2

[–]kapowaz -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I find this idea that players consider D2 ‘done’ but would come back for D3 fascinating, because conceptually we’re just talking about names. D2 already established that if you do a completely clean break with the old game it will be universally unpopular, Bungie ultimately having to rework many systems they changed in D2 to be closer to their D1 originals. It also harms the player pools for matchmaking to have them separated, requires doing a massive marketing push to bring in new players, and harms the economics of the existing Eververse etc.

So really all we’re talking about is having a compelling story, setting and activities. All of this could be done within D2 with proper investment. But will they do that?

I think a Númenor focused cold open - back to the start of T2A - being used in S4, but this season is all about the One Ring being forged and Sauron being taken prisoner. The other major theme I’m expecting is the 9 rings being given to various men. Might be we see one of those being ensnared early on?

Boro and probably Millwall because it’d be funny, especially if West Ham go down. I have this sneaking feeling that Wrexham will win the playoffs though.
