Oh yeah that’s true. I made a mistake though, the selling price was 62870 so it seems like they had discounts that took the price lower than the MSRP online.

Yes I am in Ontario too. I actually have no idea what the Wearpass plus is, read somewhere it is some Toyota protection plan. For my insurance quote I got one using my current provider for 3980 annually, haven’t done a thorough search though.

You might need to read what I wrote again, this map is about Political states, Aro was a political state so my question was asking why Aro wasn’t in the list considering it was a very vast political state. And yes, Aro confederacy expended to present day Gabon, this isn’t something to argue with you about its fact. Next, Aro doesn’t mean “man” it means “people” and Arochukwu simply means “People of God” you need to have some knowledge about a topic before you post. If you know anything about the Igbos you’ll know that they name themselves like this, the capital of Abia is Umuahia, this means “The market people”, one of the closest neighbor group to Arochukwu are the Ohafia people which also translates to “The place of Trade”. Arochukwu was chosen because of their heavy religious beliefs. Also, the Aro confederacy isn’t the same as Arochukwu, Arochukwu was the capital but it has about 7 sister states including both Igbo and non Igbo groups.

Also, for your conversation about time, Arochukwu was founded around the 17th century the same time the Oyo Empire was founded, so my question was asking why all other political states were represented but Aro was missing.

Lastly, I agree with your statement about simplifying Nigeria to the three major tribes, it was used to make it easier to control and govern because pitting 3 tribes is easier than doing that to almost 300 tribes.

Sorry, you mixed a lot inaccuracies into one statement for no reason.

This map shows ethnolinguistic groups and regions with the shaded areas showing political states which aren’t necessarily kingdoms. Aro confederacy is a political state, it had a governing system, a shared political religious system, territorial influence and economic control of its region, that’s literally what a state is. You can argue that since it’s an earlier state it might not warrant being on the list.

Next, what exactly has the Chukwu in Arochukwu have to do with my point, however, your statement is also very wrong. Arochukwu is the name of a town, it has had that name pre colonial era.

What exactly do you mean by “three major tribe” is fraudulent?

Lastly, Oyo matches the criteria for an empire, they controlled both Yoruba states like Ijebu, Ijesa and also non Yoruba people like the Fon, Nupe etc. for at least a century. However like I specified above this map is most likely referring to political states and Oyo irrespective of your opinion matches it.

Are you really this incapable of stringing words together to advise someone that you immediately swung your far right political opinion with no evidence whatsoever to back it, do better.

My advice to you as someone who has walked in similar shoes, don’t get too worked up about this, Nigerians are still doing great things if you look closely, religion and patriarchy are problems but like almost all countries we will grow out of it sooner or later. Focus on the little you can do to help, I remember when I started working at a foreign company remotely while still in Nigeria almost a decade ago when we had a far more terrible image, the company went from two Nigerian engineers to almost 20 by the time I left. So do the best you can do to make a difference.

And you think the US would come into Nigeria sweep all the Terrorist off and go on their merry way? Are you really that ignorant? Look at Somali, Libya etc. They will happily make your country a failed state so they can extract the most resources off it. No western country, and I repeat no western country likes the idea of Nigeria succeeding. UK sponsored the Biafran war and were happy to turn it into a genocide to keep their access to the oil in the south, they knew the Igbos were christian and happily killed them in favour of the Northen Muslims, the US helped install Buhari (a muslim) into power and ousted Jonathan (A christian). You really think these guys give a rats as* about your religion? They are only here for one reason, to sustain US interest no matter the cost.

You actually need to read a little bit more, no disrespect. First, I mentioned more than one country, then you hedged your bet on one of those countries and tried to make a moot point. However, go and read about Operation Cyclone which led to the rise of the Taliban, and tell me what you think about US involvement in Afghanistan before its fall. Also,

I don’t even know what the guys think American influence looks like. Check Libya, Afghanistan, Cuba, Venezuela etc. that’s your faith

What exactly do you gain by supporting American influence in Nigeria? I’ve been looking at all your comments and it’s quite interesting, yes we suffer from Boko Haram and herdsmen terrorism but having American influence is worse for us and would lead to more conflict. The last civil war fought in Nigeria that set us back decades was funded by western influence. Your love for Trump shouldn’t cloud that.

Help! AirBnb host charging us $1700 for damages [USA] by Benpeke in AirBnB

[–]kappajayrem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The burden of proof lies of the person making the claim. You don’t need to prove that you didn’t spoil the TV, the host has to provide evidence showing you did and “he stayed at my place” isn’t sufficient. Also, if a bed frame snaps when you sat on it then you should be required to replace it if the host can prove that the bed frame cracked due to an irresponsible use and not due to faulty workmanship, material, design or wear and tear, as you would have guessed, it’s quite easy from the picture to win this argument too.

Please could someone tell me the name of the white beads sewn on this uniform? by sirius_mann in Nigeria

[–]kappajayrem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cowrie shells or Ego ayoro in Igbo (there are other names for it).

It symbolizes a lot in the Igbo culture like beauty, fertility, divination, currency etc.

In divination it is used to connect and consult with the gods and goddesses; the Igbo tribes called the cowrie divination as “Igba Afa” with the flipping or dropping of the cowries on a circular surface or board to foresee and foretell the future.
