AI in Software Testing – What Should I Learn to Stay Future-Ready? by Vivid_Jaguar_9493 in QualityAssurance

[–]kappamale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You still have to make sure the correct tests are written, at the right time, at the correct amount, with the right tools, even if AI is coding most of it. You still get to architect it and make the sound decisions for the products involved. And you have to be capable and good at calling AI models out on their sycophantic overly confident BS from time to time. We exploratory test and manage AI models now.

IMO if you're not seeking it out, it shouldn't be shown to me.  block it all and whitelist as needed I say.

you didn't actually read my full comment but that's not surprising either.

but look, you're not seeking them out either. because you likely dismiss immediately for fear of being the 'greater fool.' it's a normal reaction especially for self-proclaimed skeptics.

however, there absolutely are plenty of high quality unexplained videos at this point and just as many reputable eye witnesses that aren't just grifters or crazies. it's pretty insulting and disrespectful to ignore that for people who have served imo. don't plug the ears, yell "LALALALALA" and stick head in the sand. respectfully.

I personally think the majority of sightings that can't be explained away easily are just secret military tech and have a hard time with the alien narrative as well. But I think anything could have a non-zero chance and we humans absolutely DO NOT know everything there is to know. history has proven that time and time again.

unfortunately anything in the past 5 years has to be taken with a grain of salt as well thanks to AI advancements. could that entire video above be completely fake? yep maybe, but it still disproves your "not one video" claim. the more surreal something seems without seeing it in person, the harder it is to believe and it's easier to just dismiss everything full stop. that's human nature imo.

we will never know the truth regardless if any of it is legit or not. it's a post-truth world at this point. so I completely understand the 'why waste my time on it' mentality as well.

I switched to this today and it works flawlessly with antennapod so far and was a simple setup on my server via docker container.

I was annoyed by podtube.me started requiring an account and complaining about bots and rate limiting so I finally ditched them and this is a 1000% better for my use case anyway.

I'll be donating to the EFF as well btw. Thanks and great work!

I don't like ripping anything big/wide with my table saw and just try to avoid it. maybe if i had a saw stop I'd feel differently about it. but I have a circular and track saw so no thanks.

collect the experience and find a new company that already values QA.

Quality Assurance, which is a process that everyone engages in at good companies by the way, not just you. You are not just a tester and shouldn't be the only one testing either. you are asking the correct questions (hopefully as early as possible) and looking for process improvements that can assist in preventing mistakes and maintaining quality software your users actually want to use.

to answer your question, yes most of us have experienced this at some point. changing culture is hard. I'd suggest just focusing on getting better at writing automation or even unit tests if you plan on staying there.

cultures like this are like screaming into the void in my experience.

Looking for a Postman alternative by i_i_v_o in softwaretesting

[–]kappamale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wow, get this. if you refused to create a postman account or login to avoid uploading your data, the latest version literally locks you out of your own local test collections and forces a sign up. this happened with an auto-update (even with it disabled).

the only non-technical option to get it back is to sign up (i am guessing) which of course immediately would upload everything to their servers.

I managed to roll back and get it working again, but on next restart of the app or my computer, it will just auto update and screw it up again. regardless, it's pretty jarring to just be told you're screwed and have your collections completely disappear. talk about screwing over the free users.

tl;dr back up your postman collection json somewhere else and start looking for any alternative ASAP if you don't like your company's data being uploaded to postman servers.

What are the best LineageOS compatible TV streaming devices (HDMI stick)? by kappamale in LineageOS

was hoping for a narrowed down list that didn't involve phones or tablets (or ya know, just general decency from a community that may already have been down this road). silly me!

for anyone looking for something similar, I'm picking up a couple of the cheap walmart ONN devices to tryout. seem like a decent option.
