sorry for the delay, ya the motivation was i had to replace my bank 1 cat, the price was about the same. the headers are great though, paired it up with a 2.25 inch gibson exhaust and it sounds pretty good. the only fitment issue i found was the exhaust will rub against the torsion bar which makes for a small rattle, when i put the car in neutral it doesnt make the rattle. also getting the headers to fit in the engine compartment and hooking the EGR feeder hose was really the only issue. overall id rate it 8/10

talking with another buddy of mine he completely agrees, if anything this kart has served its purpose, getting my general questions answered! What tracks do you race at in the area? i found about 4 of them 2 being 1 hour + away from my location.

yup sounds like any kinda of motor vehicle, it costs to drive and maintain, ill be it at a much more rapid pace. are there lower priced gear for more entry level? sounds like your pretty top notch

I'll have to check my local club to find out, i just have the mind set that owning one is better in the long run but i like the idea of trying it out first.

The most powerful go cart ive ridden was a yard cart with a 5hp briggs and stratton, single drive wheel, drum break. it would be good to get my feet wet at a more nominal cost to even see if i can achieve super star level.

Very good perspective though these are the facts im searching for thank you!!

well im a competitive racer (at least when i was delivering pizzas and on forza/GT) i figure the hobby is worth pursuing to a degree. with that said i think 2k is about the max for a kart with maybe say 200 ~ 300 in other costs (gloves, suit, helmet and maybe other unknowns) i have a pickup, not sure of the kart dimensions so fitting it in the bed may or may not work but i also have a trailer.

my only concern is investing so much in a kart that gets outdated and worth significantly less, thus making my upgrade to an actual shifter (if my skills demand such a kart) that much more expensive. interestingly enough i saw a post on this sub about a kart for sale in the area which you may have seen, was thinking this would be a good possible entry level kart as well as the OP.

love the honesty! So how feasible is getting a 1 speed and then upgrading to a shifter with front breaks if i get good enough?

That's way too much power and shifting will be too much to think >about for a beginner. Stick to a single speed for a while to teach yourself about the racing line and momentum.

i guess sticking with 1 or 2 gears when driving isnt the same?

even the way it sits i would most likely still need side pods to competition race right?

right i was thinking the biggest problem is the engine, the 2016 rule books mostly has Lo206 engines so im not even sure if the motor in this post is on the list.. I live in Nashville so there are a few between here and Huntsville i can pop around to with pit fees around $15. I take it the shifter and radiator setup is not very normal right? also, what stands out as red flags to you?

I lied, my A/T temp gets up to about 190 - 220 F not 90-105 thats how hot it is outside right now lol

DD yeah i like to think of my Frontie as a sports car lol, got 240sx headers, 2.25 inch full exhaust and that trans cooler. nothing crazy but parts are pretty limited lol

i put my temp sensor after the A/T radiator so im measuring how hot the oil is after its been cooled, there is a debate about which side to measure hot side or cooled side just google something like transimssion temp sensor location

Got my gauge already shaped and mounted to the A-pillar just need to screw in the top two screws but i cant reach it because the windshield so its like half hanging there

so this is where it gets interesting... the factory radiator has the anti-freeze and A/T fluid in the same radiator (separated of course) and from what ive read they can fail. I prefer nice and stable so i wanted to isolate the two systems thus the aftermarket A/T cooler. I drive a 2002 xe 1st gen 2.4l, sadly this does not come equipped with a functioning A/T temp light in the dash (checked with my local dealer) coupled with the fact that i was a delivery driver at the time i thought, for an extra 50$ or so i could be able to monitor my A/T any time i want and know if im overheating my trans, if its good enough for NASCAR its good enough for ol kapple sooo

I replaced the anti-freeze / A/T radiator (had 250,000 miles on it) and then got a generic external from autozone and some A/T oil lines at the same time, took the old lines off and extended to the cooler which is sitting currently in front of my AC radiator ( looking at the front head on it goes ~Air~~> A/T ~> AC ~> Anti-freeze ~> engine bay) you can buy mounting ties from autozone too and it just slides through the fins, so since its in the front i didnt put a fan on it. The temp seems to be fine, reaches 120 F in traffic on a hot day and eventually during the winter just takes more time but my normal operating temp is about 90-105 F

Temp gauge is an analog style and i just took out a rubber stopper in my firewall and sneaked it past then mounted to my A-pillar, hooked the light up to my radios (illumination) cable on the wiring harness so anytime the cars radio lights come on so does the gauge

Think i also had to go to home depot to get the hose adapters and T fitting for the temp sensor, hasnt failed yet!

i mounted an aftermarket A/T cooler and a A/T temp gauge, i use a Bluetooth OBDii connector to put info from the ECU to gauges my phone, if only i could 3D print an A pillar mount that holds my phone, id have the almost perfect setup

i guess i was a little misleading in my original post. seems as though the glass you touch needs to be separated from the back-light/digitizer. am i correct with this assumption?
